Michael Boley accused of child abuse (physical)
According to Yahoo Sports, Michael Boley has been accused of physically abusing his son. More after the jump.
“During our entire trial on her request for child support, the only thing the mother asked the court to do was to increase the child support to five times what it currently is since Mr. Boley is a highly paid NFL player,” Kessler said. “There was no evidence presented of any increased needs of the child. It was a simply a case of `he makes a lot of money, so he should pay a lot of money.”’
Boley is in the third year of a five-year contract with the Giants worth about $25 million.
Giants spokesman Pat Hanlon said the team is aware of the allegations, but had no further comment.
Kessler said abuse was alleged to have happened between May 30 and June 5.
He said a Georgia woman recently asked for Boley’s contact with their child to be supervised, but didn’t an file emergency request. He said no hearing has been scheduled.
Boley was also arrested in May 2008 on battery charges after his wife, Chantelle, told police he “became physical” with her during an argument. He was suspended for one game by the NFL for violation of the league’s personal conduct policy, but the case didn’t go to court.
Michael is, of course, innocent until proven guilty

Didn't want to put my own commentary in the story, but this reads awfully fishy to me.
His ex wants a lot more money from him. Gets denied. Says nothing about child abuse. Now stories of alleged abuse pop up? Something does not sound right, here.

sounds to me like the ex
isnt getting the money she wants, so its blackmail time. could be wrong of course, but this doesnt seem very legit.

That is the first thing I thought of as I read through this
Just sounds absurd.

both things can be true
he can be an abusive batterer and she can be out for more money.
It would not be in any way surprising. Happens every day in every town.

I am reserving any judgement
One way or the other.
I don't think it's going out on a limb believing that the man is innocent
Especially with how the facts read.

what facts?
you’re telling me that his baby’s mom asking for more child support means that he’s innocent?
or that she’s a liar?

shes a liar
Boley is a 250 lb lineman, i would say “show me the abuse.”
if the kid didn’t have a scratch on him, i would throw her request for more money in the trash. i cant stand people who marry for money, get divorced and think they are entitled to live like their spouse men or woman

I wish boley was 250...maybe we could stop the run
but in all seriousness…..your opinion is pure speculation.
Fire Fewell
that's basically how these cases go
without any kind of documented evidence of abuse, it comes down to the difference in sworn testimony from boley and the mother.
if there is documented abuse, (i.e. hospital records of broken bones, bruising, injuries) then its a fairly cut and dry case.
THANK YOU
i’m not going to sit here and act like I know what’s going on after reading an article.
ill just hope for the best and leave it at that.

Erm, as Americans, we are supposed to be innocent until proven guilty.
So, why would you be against thinking the man is innocent?

I think all of you guys are make good points.
Quick question jonathan: Is your post written the same way that it was presented in the original article or did you present only the pieces of information that you considered to be the most important?

I just copy pasted from the article.
For some reason, the quote thing broke it up in different colors like that.

No that wasn't it.
I am just curious as to why the writer presented the information in the way they did. the way in which the writer juxtaposed the specified events would give the reader the impression that the ex is out for money but andi is right. we don’t know all of the fax so we can say if he is innocent or guilty.

Probably because the writer thinks it's a crock and portrayed it as such.
Writers are never really bias-free, ya know?
