Newsflash. The Giants defense has been abysmal. It is hard to believe that given our disastrous D, hideous running game and middling special teams that we actually have destiny in our own hands going into week 16.
For the Giants to win this week something needs to change. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. For our defense to pull together 2 MEDIOCRE games something needs to change. I expect them to miss tackles. I expect them to make mistakes in coverage. I've been seeing it for too long to even hope that won't change.
What I believe can change, especially against the Jets is our pass rush. A couple of weeks ago Ed begged Perry Fuel to "Release the Kraken!" namely Jason Pierre Paul which is the one thing he has done over the last 2 weeks. Problem is this defense is a few Kraken short of NFL caliber.
In order for us to get a pass rush and knock Sanchez silly we need to make one change. A simple change that could give us an edge come Saturday. It is time for Matthias Kiwinuka to go back to DE.
This isn't a big change. The guy knows the D and would know his assignments. Start him at DE, spot Tuck (who played with some fire Sunday but is really dinged up) and get a bookend rush on the QB. Kiwi taking the high edge and JPP coming in hard and low. If we can blow up Sanchez then we have a chance to win the game. He is a QB that is either hot or cold and his confidence is not high right now. The Giants need to keep him down and force him to make quick decisions. Kiwi rushing on all 3 downs could be the difference in letting them do just that.
