Well, certainly we were the better team in the first two years. We made the playoffs, went to the championship game. To say a team's better than you that never went to the playoffs is ridiculous. Clearly, we were the better team my first two years here and we get to prove on Saturday who the best team is this year.

Can't argue
Though the Jets and their fans clearly have an inferiority complex, Rex’s statement is 100% accurate.
I guess but not by much
They are 2 games better over the past 2 seasons. They were extremely lucky to make the playoffs at 9-7 in 2009 while the Giants were unlucky to make it at 10-6 in 2010.
"Sometimes you make a mistake and you get hit in the head." - Eli Manning
Lucky?
I do not believe in luck just shining down on an NFL team- Teams that play together make their own luck.
And the Giants were not Unlucky- they played like garbage down the stretch last season.
Well the Jets
played 2 teams that rested their starters to win 2 games to get to 9-7 (Indy was winning until they pulled their starters out). And that was the first time a 10-6 record didn’t make the playoffs in the NFC in about 10 years.

The Cardinals
made it to the Super Bowl at 9-7 I believe?

How were the Giants unlucky...
when they gagged? It is flawed logic right there.

Statistically speaking they were
9 times out of 10 a 10-6 record will get you into the playoffs. And the Jets got to play two teams that had bascially packed up their regular season in order to go 9-7 and squeak in. You going to tell the Pats their weren’t unlucky when they went 11-5 a few years ago and missed the playoffs.
Just trying to show that the Jets have been “barely” better than the Giants and have had some good luck along the way too. But I know you want to hate the Giants so I won’t stop you.

This is flawed logic
the Giants “gag” still made them 3 games better than a team who got to go to the playoffs. That “gagged” team was still 10-6…and didn’t go to the playoffs because their zip code was further east than a team that couldn’t even finish .500 in a garbage division.
This is a sig.

Playing better than the Giants is not something to brag about
The Gs are not playing good football consistently.
I think the Jets win Sunday although you can never count this team in or out.
Schizoteam.
I am not happy about saying it but I think Rexx is right based on results.
All the Giants should play like Mark Bavaro.
TC, TQ, PF, KG, DD and KMac Must Go!

If the Jets win on Sunday,
who’s winning on Saturday?
I agree that playing better than the Giants hasn’t been something to brag about lately.

Ya got me
At least the Giants won’t be able to eviscerate my little mind on Sunday with more disgusting play.

We would be playing better...
With some creativity on the offense. People at the game yesterday said that when the Giants were in the red zone, Skins defenders weren’t even covering the receivers, they were immediately running to the back corner of the end zone, waiting for the fade pass.
Like the TD pass to Nicks that was called back?

Still, if they were going straight to the corner at the snap...
It means it’s time to retire the SB XLII fade.
Too bad the fans can't run this team
they'd be undefeated

Tom Quinn and Kevin Gilbride wouldn't have jobs.
That’s for sure.

So you lost two AFC championship games so what, come bacl and talk trash once you have won something little brother

Let me be contrarian
I wish we had a few more loudmouths. Ryan is trying to psych his team.
The difference
REX and the Jets run their mouths with positivity, unity, braggadocio and Confidence. Rolle just spews divisive venom at his teammates. Completely different approach.
Talk is cheap play the game
For all the Jet’s talking someone tell me what they have won, any AFC East championships? AFC tittle games? Super Bowls? Anybody can talk trash

I give Rex credit.
His comments always unwavering confidence in his team no matter how often do you get embarrassed. But come it’s not like they dominated their way into the playoffs and into the championship. Rex, have a snack.

his team
takes hi scue. unlike the mess that is the Giants organization were everyone is on completely different pages.
It will be settled on Saturday
one way or the other. Win and we’re still alive…..lose and we’re getting a new coaching staff.
Quinn must go !!

Rex is right. The Jets have been better the previous 2 years.
This year the Jets are 1 game better. They beat bad teams and lose to good teams. The Giants do a little a both. I guess you have to give them credit for being the more consistently average team.
Thanks Rex
Tom Coughlin is having trouble motivating this team to play with fire. So, we appreciate the help you’re giving him.
nygmen123: Again, without Vick or Maclin, or Cromartie. Injuries don't seem to bother them. They just bring in guys to make plays
nygmen123: Stopped the Pats on the first series. Planted Brady twice. Guess what gang? This team isn't quitting. Or making excuses.
Simms-McC: Yeah -- I wish the Giants were more like the Eagles
nygmen123: In intensity and fight? Right now, so do I.

Giants players
hopefully REX restores Giants’ Pride all by himself!
The Giants
can’t motivate themselves, crux of their many issues. It doesn’t matter what Rex says at all.

They have played in a weak division and always let the one good team in their division take the division.
However, no excuse for Giants if they loose on Saturday… Rex will have a field day for the next 10 months.
Next 10 months!?
If the jets win, Rex will talk about it for years to come.

He “didn’t come here to be anybody’s little brother”, yet the guy has the biggest “little brother” complex I’ve ever seen, to match the one Jets fans wear like a hat.
If he can play the “we’re better the last two years” card, then I’ll play this one:
Three Trophies.
Both teams stink this year. Both have crapped the bed when they’ve had chances to take control and put themselves in position to be near the top of the league. This game is becoming nothing more than “The Battle to See Which NY Team Talks the Most Crap and Doesn’t Back It Up”, loser takes all.

Own New York?!?
That’s like the Mets having two good seasons, better than the Yanks and calling it their town. Two AFC title losses doesn’t equate nor surpass the Giants body of work over the last 30 years including a recent Superbowl title…so keep talking Rex while the Giants shine their rings.
It's still GIANTS Stadium
not to get into it on BBV
but New York has always been a national league town. From 84-91 the Mets owned the town.
He's right, though
Despite the Giants having more talent at most positions, the Jets are playing better football. Simply put.
Of course, that also depends on whether Jekyll or Hyde shows up for the game.

Injuries....
Not making excuses…well maybe I am…but….
What if the Jets had to play without their following players:
Defense:
Cromartie
Bart Scott
Calvin Pace
Kyle Wilson
Kyle Wilson’s backup
Kyle Wilson’s backup’s backup
Kyle Wilson’s backup’s backup’s backup
Offense:
D-Brick
Mangold
Dustin Keller
I know some of those players don’t translate (for example, their starting center is 10x better than ours), but still, it shows you some perspective in terms of how depleted our team is.
The Jets have been very, very fortunate these past couple of years with injuries. Aside from Leonard this year, they haven’t been hit at all. Us on the other hand…not so much.
It's unfortunate...
we have to play the Jets this year down so many guys. We only get a shot every 4 years, and I don’t like our chances this year. BUT, if we can somehow beat them, it would be quite glorious!
Agreed
This is my argument as well and hate to make excuses too, but this is our unfortunate reality. Instead of Cro, I would say Revis cause TT was our best corner.
It's still GIANTS Stadium
When Mangold went out their offense went in the tank for 2 weeks
Like you said Mangold is many times better than the Giants center but what if they had 5 to play different offensive line configurations like the Giants?
Rex hasn’t had to deal with the Giants type of injures at all. The total for his 3 seasons is like 4 games worth for the Giants.
"Sometimes you make a mistake and you get hit in the head." - Eli Manning
Grey skies are gonna clear up, sit on Rex's face
The Giants are gonna gear up
And ground the jets post haste
The G-men begin their Superbowl run saturday.
This is such a non-story
why do statements like this rile people up?
