Good morning, New York Giants fans! Here are your New York Giants news and notes for today.
First, a quick promotional announcement. I have been asked to write a series of five posts for the New York Times The Fifth Down football blog in advance of the Giants-New York Jets game on Saturday. The first of those can be found here. Brian Bassett of SNY's 'The Jets Blog' is handling the Jets perspective this week for The Fifth Down.
Now, on to our notes for today.
The Giants will likely be without Jake Ballard Saturday, and could be without the surprising tight end for the final two games. Giants head coach Tom Coughlin said Ballard has a PCL injury and the Giants "expect that he will" miss Saturday's game.
Bear Pascoe has a rib injury and his status in unknown. Considering that Travis Beckum missed Sunday's game against Washington with a chest injury it's anyone's guess at this point who lines up at tight end Saturday.
As you might expect, Coughlin wouldn't bite when asked about Rex Ryan's trash talk.
"I don't usually get involved in the rhetoric part of this thing. I think what's important is that the game is an important game to both teams. And the game will be settled on Saturday afternoon at one," Coughlin said.
The Giants coach gave an interesting answer when asked if he had ever trash-talked, either as a player or coach. "Not that I would admit to," he said.
