Giants Vs. Redskins, Open Thread

Washington Redskins at New York Giants, Dec 18, 2011 1:00 PM EST

NEW YORK GIANTS (7-6) Game 14
WASHINGTON REDSKINS (4-9)
Giants_icon_medium
VS. Redskins_icon_medium

Date: 12/18/2011
Location: MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford, N.J.
Time: 1 p.m. EST
Line: Giants by 7
TV: FOX
Radio: WFAN 660 AM, Sports USA

BY THE NUMBERS: The Giants defense has at least one takeaway in 25 of its last 26 games ... Eli Manning has passed for at least 3,000 yards and 20 touchdowns in seven consecutive seasons. He is the fifth quarterback in NFL history to do so. The other four quarterbacks to accomplish the feat are Peyton Manning, Brett Favre, Dan Marino and Drew Brees ... Victor Cruz has 1,150 receiving yards and needs just 194 more to top Amani Toomer's franchise record 1,343.

Great work by the New York Giants last week to beat the Dallas Cowboys and take control of the NFC East. They can't afford to slip up Sunday against the Washington Redskins and give it back, so winning today is critical for New York.

Use this as your open thread, and please remember to keep it as civil as possible. Let everyone enjoy participating in the thread. Enjoy the game!

I had no idea Cruz was THAT impressive this year

Lets hope he can keep it up. Giants need to shut down Helu today, and score early. Put 7 on the board and get the crowd into it.

Time to put the Skins out of their misery.

x-factor of this game (and I can't believe I'm saying this.) is Justin Tuck.

You can bet JPP will be double and triple-teamed….which will allow Tuck to get some single protection looks. Time for the “leader” of this defense to lead the sack party this afternoon.

I'm going to the bar.

The only thing I care about today is defense.

The offense has been getting it done all year, and I don’t care if they only put up 20 points today, the defense needs to show up.

I believe Perry CAN turn his unit around, it’s just a matter of if he will.

Win ugly.

I know that doesn’t make sense but strong Belgian beer(s) kicked in a bit too early this Sunday.

coming off a sack you should be trying to rattle the qb, not let him set up shop and make a comfortable throw.

they're 4-9

This is their Super Bowl. We haven’t stopped them on 3rd and short. Might as well go for the knockout blow. If anything, the mistake was passing rather than just running for the first down.

no

they got greedy trying to put us away early, they are not that type of team. and they just lost the game. Giants get the ball back to start the half, it will be 10-17 and all of a sudden Redskins will start panicking and loose.

This half will define this season. Either the players wake up and we blow them out or they hang it up for the year.

Don't expect much to change in the second half

the defense still sucks, and the O is discombobulated. Somebody please punch Antrel in the mouth, I’m sick of this big mouthed dude. If he played as good as he talked, he’d be a first ballot Hall of Famer. i know MR Mara must be seething now, would’nt be suprised if he’s in the locker room.

With the exception of JPP

Only Bobby Bushae would be able to help this pathetic excuse of a defense out. Now the crappy play of the defense has caught up with the offense. Lord help us

I hate games like this...

because there a select group of people here that ONLY come out in full force when things go wrong. And when we play well, they STFU.

devin thomas

cannot down the ball ever inside the 20 even if they gave him glue for his gloves.

this defense gives up more 3rd down conversions then any team I have ever seem

nicks with 3 drops, including 1 td.

It's kinda funny

the Giants defense is offensive, and the offense looks defensive.
