I remember hating the pick, so I'm relieved to see I wasn't hysterical about it. Here was my reaction:

JPP, whatever

may be good, may never start a game.

The reason I’m disappointed here is because we really could have used a bolstering of the O-Line with clear, safe bets like Bulaga or Iupati.

Our offense started turning good this year, but this O-Line is getting old and isn’t going to make it through this year uninjured again. The value was absolutely there — I can’t BELIEVE the Pack got Bulaga in the late 20s! — and it was an area of need.

I think the Giants really dropped the ball here by going project at an overstocked position when there is clear value and low bust potential in an area of need. Behind a stronger, younger O-Line, this offense could really start to open up — and the run game would improve, too.

I generously give this pick a D. Even if JPP turns into an all-pro, it can’t get better than a B. Because we really passed up a clear, obvious opportunity to improve the O-Line, which really needs it.

So, I was right about the O-line but wrong about the grade. If only I had shut up sooner!
