New York Giants' Wednesday Night Programming Notes

Here are a couple of New York Giants-related TV programming notes to help you plot your Wednesday evening. I usually don't pass these along, but maybe I should.

For starters, Giants quarterback Eli Manning will be appearing on 'Inside The NFL' with Cris Collinsworth, Phil Simms, Warren Sapp and James Brown. That airs on Showtime at 9 p.m. ET.

'NFL Turning Point,' which is on Versus at 10 p.m. E.T., will feature the Giants-New England Patriots game -- specifically Jake Ballard's game-winning touchdown catch. That show is hosted by Dan Patrick, Tony Dungy and Rodney Harrison.

I would watch inside the NFL but Lag Warner screwed me

they told me i could have free showtime for a year but never gave it to me….typical bait and switch

I called them and told them i’m cancelling my service…the lady said we can give it to you for 5 bucks a month.

I said “hi I’m earth, have we met?”….either way i’m calling RCN…and watching Versus tonight.

Rodney Harrison is gonna be PISSED

to have to discuss that tape.

Especially after he bluntly said there was “no way” the Giants could handle the Pats the way the Pats got handled by Pitt.

And then if they make the #85 connection and show this, he’ll need a straight jacket. . .

Now everyone will say Eli is in Bradys class. F*ck me

Andy Reid apparently thinks that the Eagles are a good football team minus the penalty’s and turnovers. If we used his analogy the 2010 NY Giants would be one of the best teams in league history.

Eli fan here.

I’ve defended him many times on Jets blogs. But jokes aside, As a Jets fan I fear about two teams in the league (Packers/Ravens). I hold the Giants to the, same standard, a game against the 9ers should not be anything to fear.

I’m telling you, lose this game & the wheels will come off fast. I don’t believe in destiny or any of that stuff, but IMO the Eagles are one game away (the Giants game in two weeks) grime turning into some NFL cinderlla story. A win against the the 9ers is beyond important as far as I’m concerned.

by The_Jets_Way on Nov 9, 2011 9:22 PM EST via mobile up reply actions

Agree

We have to win this game and we want it more than the 49ers. In fact it looks oike a trap game for them. They think they will just win the game automatically. We have to score early with two scores and keep adding points as we can while we keep their offense off as long as we can.

Like sexy Rexy said..The Jets owe us..We just put you guys in a three-way tie..

Now it’s up to them to take off and win it..We proved the ‘vaunted’ Patriots ain’t so great afterall..and Buffalo has no depth..So the ball’s in your court..

McCoy is getting real cocky..He better watch out..

Vick is vulnerable..He had a great year last year, but his bubble is about to burst..He’s getting pounded..They are trying to keep him in the pocket..GONG!! He can’t be that type of QB..

I noticed something else today.

Before the season started Eagles fans couldn’t stop themselves from screaming that as long as they had Vick they could beat anyone. Now that he isn’t playing like he did last year (which everyone predicted before they gave him the money) it’s McCoy. Now, McCoy is all they need to beat anyone. I wonder who it will be next week…

I agree...

people always say that the Super Bowl champs get the best out of their opponents each week. The same thing goes for teams that crown themselves before the 1st snap of the season. Look at the Cowboys last year and us the year before that. All were heavy favorites until the games were played.

That's right..you can't Crown your team anything..(Got it Rex?)

Before the games begin..Now that we have reached the halfway point I’m very confident..But only because I see our guys either healthy or near healthy..Last year we were losing too many players to injury..and we could ill afford it..this year is different..Our biggest weakness is the O-line..but they can work through that..

you take it one week at a time

no one cares about GB or NO right now, nto even the Eagles. Its one week at a time. No one can tell me that the Giants can’t beat the Packers or Saints, not after they beat a team that never loses in the situation they were in last week.

The Giants lose against SF, they’re 6-3. They win, 7-2. And then we play Philly, and that is all.

Anybody see that Clark got fined for the hit against the Ravens?

It was a great hit but the league is so vague on this policy. He didn’t launch. No helmet to helmet. No arm to the head. No flag but a $40000 fine. Sometimes they get fined for the “defenseless receiver” hit which baffles me. If I were coaching I would train all my guys to stare up in the sky while running backwards after they get the ball…be defenseless all the way to the endzone, right? Maybe with their eyes closed.

If that is an illegal hit then Ballard got whacked a few times last week that were, too.

I am a PSU alum

And against my better judgement, I’m gonna address this situation here. And I know I’m gonna get killed for much of what I say but I stand by my opinion. It’s my alma mater & I’m very distraught about the entire topic so I’ll just say my piece & try not get out of hand.

1st & foremost, my heart goes out to the victims. It’s a horrific & deplorible offense & there is NEVER a defense for taking a child’s innocence. But I have & always will be a JoePa fan & I want more than anything to believe that he didnt know the details of this issue. The only people that really know that truth are Joe & McQueary. Joe reported to the proper officials (one of which was the head of campus police). So I take Joe’s side in thinking that when the investigation never amounted to anything, he’d want to believe his friend was innocent. He (nor anyone of us) would go out of our way to destroy a friends life if the authorites came back with nothing.

I also feel for the student athletes that are having their season’s stolen from them. And I know this isnt about football but these players werent involved in the scandal but everything theyve worked so hard for is being thrown away prematurely. No files were being charged against Joe. We have no idea what he knew & when he knew it, but his entire legacy is tarnished forever. And these student athletes (on the verge of a great season) are having it taken away from them before the courts have due process.

In all honestly, I would have prefferred a booster scandal. There is nothing worse than this being tied to ur alma mater. But the University does ALOT of good. ALOT OF GOOD. And to kill the entire university for the actions of a few is foolhardy.

I think the simple fact that JoePa

spoke w/ the Grand Jury and told them what happened and they basically said he’s in the clear means he did what he was “required”.

I think judgement ultimately should be reserved for him in that regard.

but the others….the higher ups who had full knoweldge but passed the buck as “oh i thought it was horsing around”….that’s horrible

first off, SPanier is the guy that called off the presser. & they were doing it to protect their reputation (which is an unacceptable excuse). But I’m betting Joe’s lawyer is damn good & right now he has no legal obligation to speak to the press. I presonally feel he has a moral obligation to the PSU community to tell us the truth but who knows when/if that happens.

I have no connection with Penn State....

but largely agree with your comments. From my distant vantage point it looks like a board of bureaucrats were willing to sacrifice anyone and everyone to cover their butts and make it appear that they were doing the right thing. I had more respect for Penn State before this blight came up, than today, but I also had more respect for Penn State this morning than this evening, after the sordid affair had become the subject of national discussion. How the bureauracts have chosen to handle the problem just doesn’t pass the smell test in my book.

If Sandusky faded away into the sunset I could possibly agree with your statement. That’s not what happened. Sandusky was still a common fixture on campus. Not only was he a fixture on campus but as reported today, long after the reported event players from Joe Pa’s team volunteered at Sandusky’s youth program.

if you hear about a kid being molested

And you don’t know the truth, you don’t just tell some guy in a suit.

You tell child protective services. You tell a cop.

I mean, c’mon man. Does anyone here have kids or little brothers?

You take responsibility to ensure a kid is protected. That’s your responsibility as a human beingN key word being “responsibility.”. What you don’t do is pass the buck and sit passively while it fades away, trusting that someone else will sort it out or do the right thing.

At the time Joe Pa first heard about this stuff the program and his support as leader of it was under a lot of pressure just for football reasons. Joe chose to let it all get swept under the rug rather than risk more pressure that could fall on him or his job.

I don’t need more information. I’m sorry, I get the emotional and sentimental attachment to him. But he was very wrong, very morally wrong, and in spite of whatever good he has done, he flinched when the big test came and he had to be fired.

These kids out there rioting tonight are adding to the damage to the school’s rep and that damages the overwhelmingly vast majority of students who should not be blamed at all.

and we are not all respsonsible for the actions of a few. Its unfair to minimize all the good this university has done over the deplore acts of a few people. Are all Giants fans morons b/c one player shot himself in the leg?

I would never come down on your school...

I went to SUNY Corltand…it sucked. and I’m not making light of the situation

by no means does the actions of a few justify you or your fellow alums, athletes, current students, etc.

but I think in this case….the “we” stuff (not from you) needs to just chill out, and Joe Pa should probably just deal with his punishment….as unfair as it may be….but how do you stop this train?

That's our chant

We Are! Penn State! it’s more than just a diploma to many of us. It’s a family and as a family we’re trying to support each other. We’re in no way trying to support the criminals.

I know and understand it...

and like I said, i’m not accusing you of anything but I think it down plays what’s really significant here. (I’m talking about the posts I get on my Facebook feed…from random girls and stuff…you know, looking for their own attention and what not)

it’s not a “University” issue…it’s an “issue” that involved a Universities employees.

and while a lot of people are saying “oh leave Penn State alone”….really, it’s the Ex-Penn Staters who are talking. I’m not really seeing the ignorant comments out there just condemning anyone just b/c they went to school there….shit, it’s a good school.

I don’t think students will be damaged goods moving forward either.

I cant’ see an employer not hiring someone b/c they graduted from Penn State…I honestly can’t. Maybe I’m ignorant though…idk

fair points

Ive seen many comments on the yahoo articles denegrating everyone at the university for this. & i know its not a university issue but not everyone see’s that. They say its a culture issue within the Penn State community & that’s why we’re defensive, b/c I feel like all some people are trying to ostracize all penn staters

Joe Pa

steps outside his house. He ends his impromptu press conference by asking for prayers for the victims. What does he do next? He joins in with the students in a chant. Sorry! You don’t ask for prayers than follow it with a war chant.

Side note

Ahhhh, SUNY Cortland. Went to a few “block parties” there over my years while attending SUNY Oswego. And “Slope Day” at Cornell. Sorry for the derail guys.

by BKiddo on Nov 10, 2011 10:45 AM EST up reply actions

I got there in 1999

that was the same year they decided to cancel the block party

there was a total of 4 maybe 5 bars on main street…that all closed at 2 am mind you

everyone told me what a party school it was….we partied harder in high shcool.

ahhhhh

1997 to 1999 actually. One of my favorite random sites occurred while driving through downtown Cortland…..I look out my window and see a rather portly fellow walking down the sidewalk, coming toward me so I could see the front of him at first and as I passed him, the back obviously.

Anyway, he’s carrying a couple giant 12ers or 18 packs of Ole Mil, and I’m just getting me a nice good look at this guy. Wearing a dirty white t-shirt. And written in large red block letters across the chest and stomach bulge was, “SHUT UP, BITCH!”

Ah just fantastic. I wrote about him in my diary that night.

I pretty much said wht you did..albiet not as eloquently..

We all need to know the truth..and you can’t make a guy like Paterno a scapegoat until you know the truth..How can they just destroy a legacy without the truth?

this is what upsets me the most

he already said he would step down. but thats not good enough for a guy thats given 61 years of his life to the Penn State community. I think he earned enough goodwill to be given the benefit of the doubt.

Agreed, unless or until someone has a smoking gun to produce....

you don’t dump a lifetime of loyalty and leadership because those higher in the organizational chain didn’t do their jobs. At this point, to me anyway, it looks like he was told things weren’t right, he reported to who he was supposed to, and they didn’t do their jobs, and now he’s to blame for it. It still doesn’t smell right, and it wouldn’t if it was at any other college either.

He’s just as complicit as so many others.

This has absolutley nothing to do with your alma mater..

This episode has not tarnished the folks that graduated from there at all..This is a criminal act perpurtrated by a pervert..I grew up in NY..but I was always a Penn State fan..and I still am..but they are pulling some shinnagins in the front office by doing this to Paterno..Those bastards are covering up something..

Ok

Since I do not follow college games etc and do not watch tv unless a NYG game is on. I now will have to google this paterno dude or wikipedia it to figure out what is going on.

I'd take Paterno..can you imagine him and TC stalking up and down the sideline?

What a fucking riot that would be…both of them in those buggy things they sell on the TV late at night…I forget what they call them..Buggy-arounds or something..Most of the time I wake up to some commercial selling the sex toy things..Did you ever see that?..I forget what channel..but after the programs end they have two chicks describing the sex toys..“Oh this vibrator has a Rabbit stimulator”..I’m like..shit wheres the changer I can’t let her see this shit..I’ll be a spectator for life..

Someone is trying to blemish this coach's record

Next they will try to expunge his records. This way some other people can set some records after him or in other schools which makes more stores to write about. Lot of politics happened here it seems

Well..I share your view on this matter..It is unfortunate..and I really hate that they

fired old Joe…That is what really bothers me..the guy is an icon..You can’t do that to that great man without facts and truth..

They kind of have the facts his morals are in question and unfortunately it is done. He hasn’t coached a game in like ten years i bet anyways.

by Giantstep on Nov 10, 2011 12:39 AM EST up reply actions

Well your probably right about him actually coaching..

And yes his morals are in question..but at least get to the truth..before you toss a guy like that under the bus..It’ll come out..and if he did wrong than fuck him too..but until then..

Of course you can....these days you can sacrifice anyone...

on the alter of preceived political correctness. Whose gonna wait around to wade through what happened if we can pretend to take the high ground of political correctness. What’s a mere 61 years of service when it’s making some bureauract look bad? What happened at the start of this chain reaction crash was horrible, and I hope they throw the book at the pervert who started this whole affair, but it wasn’t handled correctly when it first came to light, and it hasn’t been handled correctly in the last few days either.
