Giant Streakbusters - Lets beat the Packers!

Ok, it does not look like the Giants are going to win the Super Bowl, and the playoffs are a longshot. Although I still believe that the Cowboys can be had, our injuries are catching up to us and unless we get our killer Bs back ( Bradshaw and Boley - no, Blackburn does not count) we may not have enough. At this point, who cares?

The highlight of our season is looming right in front of us. Beat the Packers. The Giants have an amazing history of ending historic winning streaks. In fact, they have ended 18 game winning streaks THREE times. I know you remember the last one...

I am referring, of course, to Super Bowl 42, when the Giants beat the 18-0 New England Patriots. Still feels so sweet! Beat the Packers!

But did you know that the other two Giant teams that beat 18-0 teams beat teams that had won the championship the year before and carried long winning streaks into the next season, just like this year's Packers. Beat the Packers!

On December 13, 1998, the Kent Graham powered Giants beat the defending Super Bowl Denver Broncos 20-13, who were 13-0 on the season and had an 18-0 streak that stretched back to the previous season. The Giants were 5-8 coming in and did not make the playoffs. The Broncos lost to Miami the following week and didn't lose again, dusting the Dolphins 35-3 in the first round of the playoffs in the process. The loss to the Giants was their only unavenged loss. Beat the Packers!

On December 9, 1933, the Giants beat the defending NFL Champion Chicago Bears 30-13. The Bears were also 13-0 on the season and had an 18-0 streak that stretched back to the previous season. This was the famous "Sneakers Game," "Trailing 13-3 in the third quarter, some of the Giants players changed into basketball shoes to increase traction on the icy Polo Grounds turf. The Giants responded with a 27-point fourth quarter to capture the championship." Beat the Packers!

I still am hopeful for a turnaround. But to start the turnaround the Giants need to go for the jugular. Rogers will get his points. Lets go for big plays. Jump routes, take chances. All out blitzes. Physical play. Flea flickers. Halfback options. Hell, I am fine with Hook and Ladder plays. Go for it on EVERY fourth down in Packer territory. The Packers defense can be had, we just need to turn them over a couple of times and score when we have the ball.

BEAT THE PACKERS, we are the STREAKBUSTERS!!!
