Perry Fewell, I BEG of you...
To PLEASE consider being more agressive in your defensive schemes. I know we are banged up in the secondary and LBs, and I know you want to protect our LBs, but this soft zone coverage with a 3 man rush is detrimental to this team. Someone else mentioned before that when we blitzed young he either threw an interception or an incompletion. When you rush three, especially with a VERY underachieving Justin Tuck, a one trick pony pass rusher Osi against one of the best LTs in the league, and a supremely talented DEFENSIVE END (YES FEWELL, JPP IS A DEFENSIVE END) at nose tackle, you have an ineffective pass rush that allows VINCE YOUNG (yes, THAT vince young who was benched last season in Tennessee and then proceeded to cry on the sidelines) to pick apart our defense as he comfortably sits in the pocket, pulls up a chair, reads a book, and finds an open receiver for a first down. It is infuriating to watch because we all giants fan know what this team is capable of. Our corners are good at man coverage, im not saying we have three Darelle Revises on our team, but they can hold their own in man to man. Our LBs looked very weak in zone coverage last week as well as most of the season. Send them on a blitz from time to time, blitz Kiwi and williams, they are fast and athletic and can get to the quarterback quickly. With 5 people rushing and every blocker occupied, someone will win their one on one matchup and get through, thats what we HAVE TO DO against Drew Brees and Aaron Rodgers, because if we continue this pathetic zone coverage with 3 man rushes, it will be as ugly as the expensive reality check the Saints served us two years ago. If we lose this game and the packers game, we are dead in the water unless we beat the cowboys twice (not happening if we continue to find new ways to suck).

Perry's bend but do not break defense will be tested against GB and NO
And hopefully it will show him that you have to go out and beat good teams. Not let teams dictate what they are going to do on offense. Quit sitting back in this cover zone bullshit and start mixing it up. Release the hounds, play more man. Quit letting teams pick up 17 yards on 3rd down because they are picking the holes in the defense. Eliminate those holes by playing man and blitzing so the QB doesn’t have all week to pick apart the zone coverage. And start doing this when the game is on the line. Quit playing to not lose and start playing to win.

If they do not go after the ball throught the next 2 games, we are in very serious trouble.
We have got only ONE defensive TD in two years and that was this year. They need to strip the ball at least. But how can they? They line up so far away from the plays that all the other team needs is first down and our guys are still trying to run towards them. Grrrrrrr

Brees and Rodgers can't pick us apart if they're on their backs
Pressure is key to any defense, and with all the talent along our D-line, it’s maddening to watch the 3 man rush. I’m scared about these next games because we’ve let the likes of Young/Grossman/Moore/Jackson look like great QB’s, Brees and Rodgers actually are great Qb’s.

I wasn't saying that he's actually reading the post
I was saying that Fewell doesn’t care to change his scheme.

ESPN's NFC South blogger
even said a few days ago that you’re asking for huge trouble if you play Cover 2 against the Saints’ offense. They have way too many guys who can hurt you underneath and get YAC. You simply can’t give them that space to work with, or else they’ll eat you alive.
Sheridan made that mistake in New Orleans in 2009. For Fewell’s sake, he better learn from that.

problem is were are going to play cover 2 all day

If we lose
I’d rather lose being aggressive, knocking the QB on his ass, and having him know he was in a football game when its over. Rushing 3, getting picked apart, and watching the QB go back to the locker room with a clean uniform when its over is aggravating.
Rec’d.
"Mr. Madison, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul."
LET'S GO RANGERS!!!
...
We beat Philly this year by not blitzing.
Last week, Philly scored one touchdown off of a legitimate drive. The other touchdown was scored on a drive that started at the Giants’ 14.
Prevent defense is terrible, but this is equally as aggravating. Stats for the Giants offense:
Time of possession: under 24:00
Punts: 9 (6 three-and-outs)
Turnovers: 2
Defense:
Turnovers: 3
Forced punts: 6
Points Allowed 17 (keep in mind, 7 of that comes off of a drive that started at the Giants’ 14 after a 51 yard DeSean Jackson punt return)
Bad day? No, when your offense keeps stalling and giving the other team chances, they are going to put something together eventually. What about that is so hard to grasp?
We had 12 first downs and a 36% third down conversion rate. Not going to win many games like that.
Really, our defense was the only reason we didn’t get blown out. We had five three-and-outs in the first half on offense. Punted on another drive. Intercepted on another. That’s the type of shit that loses games, when you get 8 drives and do absolutely nothing.

Fewell has a bunch of rookie LBs...
and a DE playing LB
he’s gotta blitz w/ these guys…especially Kiwi
and get rid of this zone D. enough is enough.
Prince is coming along, Ross is competent. Webster is solid
Rolle ain’t great in the slot but try to get more Prince in there and Rolle at S and you’re going tob e ok.
w/ the amount of pressure you bring at the QB things will even out. I have faith in that.
TeamJPP
Amen to that
only, it’s time to forget Kiwi’s days at DE, those aren’t here anymore. He’s a very good linebacker, and yes, they should blitz him in passing situations when the situation calls for it.

Ditto. Exactly.
This post says what I have been thinking. Well done.
I agree
with most of this….but teams usually will be protecting with more then 5 btw…also even if we dont send the blitz i want atleast 4 rushing at pretty much all times…The problem i see mostly with out zone is LB depth…the LB are getting caught up in real short crossing routes especially on 3rd down.. They have to ingore those and get deep to get in that moderate-deep mid passing lane. I believe its because the young Lbs in college where everyone was slower could get a good jam on those short crossing routes then drop to the deeeper mid lanes but its to fast int he nfl and they just have to get early depth to stop that deep mid pass

young LBs
gotta learn the system and learn to recognize offenses.
We have a ton of LBs signed and the competition should be interesting next year, because most of these guys are considered run-stuffers (Goff if he comes back, Jones) or pass rushers (Kiwi and Sintim under contract). It will be interesting to see if the Giants put an emphasis on speed & coverage at the position for what looks like 1 open spot and a lot of guys competing for it
