Short Term Invis-O-Line Fixes

For the first time in awhile, Giants fans saw this bad a performance in the trenches. This has been a reccuring problem throughout the season but things got really ugly just now. Great line play has been the calling card in the Coughlin era and that needs to continue if we don't want to miss the playoffs for the 3rd consecutive year. There's not a lot the Giants can do but we do have options so check out which one we should do.

Before we see them we have to face the reality that Diehl has to be benched. He's been the worst guard in the entire NFL. That's unacceptable. We love you for your great play but you're killing us, Diehl. Time for your replacement. Thanks for your service.

1. Beatty --- Boothe --- Baas --- Snee --- McKenzie

We take out the worst guard in the NFL for someone else. Boothe is a smart vet who knows what has to be done. He's got versatility and knows our system well. This alone would be a big help. It wouldn't be a drastic change from what we've been doing all season which makes this the most likely.

2. Beatty --- Petrus --- Baas --- Snee --- Boothe/McKenzie

Boothe can play anywhere on the line. The coaches don't think Petrus is ready which may be true but he's got a good shot of being better than Diehl. At this point there's no harm in trying. McKenzie hasn't been Diehl bad but he's still awful in his own right. A drastic fall from his stellar 2010 season.

3. Beatty --- Shawn Andrews --- Baas --- Snee --- Boothe/McKenzie

Shawn was awesome last year. He was versatile playing anywhere while our line was ravaged by injuries. But Eli was one of the least sacked QBs last year still. Andrews has a lot to do with that. If he's not injured there's no reason why the Giants shouldn't pick him up. This line above would boost our line play the best IMO.

People may want to ignore everything bad with the team but the offensive line cannot be ignored anymore for this season and for the next few. As the weeks go on the old guard will tire and tire where their performance agaisnt the Eagles might not even be the worst to see. Nothing here is that far fetched and I hope we see some adjustments soon for not only the fans' sake but the most important one of all: Eli Manning.
