Game Ball of the Week: You Decide Again

I'm sorry guys, but I have to cop out on this again because I couldn't decide between two guys--Victor Cruz and Mathias Kiwanuka.  So I'm putting up a poll.  On the one hand, Cruz had six catches for 128 yards and a TD Sunday night against the Eagles, but he dropped a critical pass, as he frequently does.  Also, hindsight is 20/20, but it sure would have been nice had Cruz stayed in bounds and found the end zone on that final drive, right before Eli Manning fumbled.  Kiwi did not have a sack, but he had six tackles and an assist, and stuffed LeSean McCoy for losses several times.  I don't have the stats, but I'm pretty sure Kiwanuka accounted for about 20 negative rushing yards for McCoy.  So, you decide.  Does the game ball go to Cruz or Kiwi?

Not sure if this is a sponsored post or not. But I abstain from voting.

The only thing related to balls this team deserves after that loss is a swift kick to ’em.

I support the Giants like bras support Kim Kardashian's boobs. It can be a struggle, we've had some jiggles, but we're still firm.

When did it start that you give out a game-ball on a losing game

Are we going to start not keeping score and say who won on ‘effort’?

It should go to Kiwi. He did a phenomenal job on shutting down McCoy. That ain’t easy. Plus I hate Victor Cruz. He’s starting to become an “Eagle Killer”

I think we have to give Derek Landri special credit. He was going to scoop and score with the fumble late in the game, but then it occurred to him that Shady hadn’t run for 100 yards yet. Landri selflessly went down so that Shady could pad his stats. Derek Landri is the Mother Teresa of DTs.

i have some more options

1.Canty
2.Anvil
3.our fine punter (minus 1 return on 47 of his punts that fine day.)

I may not be the most noble of men but in a town of lepers, im the one with the most fingers.

The Anvil

gets a game ball for being trapped by the right tackle the most times I can recall in recent memory
a defensive tackle being trapped in one game? If game balls are given out for that, by all means,
give him one, LOL!

I was critical of Cruz for stepping out and not cutting it back...

then I acknowledged that if he would have done that and fumbled during the process I would have demanded his head on a platter (for Thanksgiving obviously). I was confident, and I’m sure he was as well, that the Giants would be “occupying the endzone” shortly.

51.9 yard average, 4 inside the 20, tackle of DeSean Jackson

Weatherford had one of the best games by a punter, maybe the best game, that I have ever seen. The tackle of DeSean Jackson was psychologically huge for the future confidence of the team when playing the Eagles. A second game winning Jackson punt return TD would have had many of us packing up the tent.

I am a fan of Kevin Gilbride and I don't care what you say

by Spider Lockhart on Nov 23, 2011 7:14 AM EST up reply actions

I agree 100%

This game reminds me of the Dave Jennings (former Giants Punter) era of Giants football. Bad offense, decent defense, excellent (solid) punting that prevents a blowout by keeping field position viable. I really hope the Giants can get their OL back in order. I want to root for a team that has a chance and is skillfully battling for 60 minutes. No other player has earned a game ball this week.

Persistence is Omnipotent.

I don't think he actually got him out of bounds

Replays made it look like he stayed in, but either way, it was the 2nd quarter, it wasn’t game-winning. He also punted it right at him, which was what got Dodge fired…

by phi7 on Nov 24, 2011 11:59 AM EST up reply actions

Kiwi without a doubt

Was a monster everywhere. The defense played well most of the game and they weren’t the reason we lost.

Cruz did look pissed off when he got the TD and flip spiked the ball. I enjoyed that part

Self-praise is for losers. Be a winner. Stand for something. Always have class, and be humble.

Yep

The D was not why we lost though some changes are needed.

Now in section 133.

i was bored and looked something up.

so much for this brutal schedule, its gonna become a reoccurring thing.next season i believe (correct me if Im wrong) we will play AFC North, NFC South and (Det/Chi and Seatle/Arizona). Cant split those games up to much so a bunch will be back to back.

As for now, this upcoming sched will test the teams will man If we cant start winning some of these games theres gonna be a different look to this team, and I think a drastic move will be made which is not Giant-like. x

Game Balls go to

Eli
Canty
Cruz
Kiwi
Prince
Ross
Rolle

I Voted for Cruz simply because he was the only consistent offensive player all night………Kiwi was part of an extremely good defensive unit that played excellent almost the whole game and even on the 80 yard drive it was 18 plays not 3, and they still only put up 17 so defensively there were alot of good things.

Offense was God awful except for Cruz

No one gets a game ball

after that putrid performance. Let’s give one to the intern that Boley hit with his misguided
throw earlier this season, works for me!

Quite frankly, I'd give it to....

the cornerback formerly known as Prince

Gets a pick on the first throw his way. Generally played pretty solid for his first pro game. Showed great promise.

Also, our two kickers did quite well. Weatherford should get a game ball, just for kicking 47 punts in one game…

It would be Canty, but he's not on the field enough

poor guy. In Dallass when they had 3 down lineman it was their base. Now its their DC being an idiot.
