Giants Inactives: Tuck, Jacobs Won't Play

Prince Amukamara, Brandon Jacobs, Mitch Petrus, David Baas, James Brewer, Michael Clayton and Justin Tuck will be inactive today for the New York Giants.

Pat Traina points out that Tuck will be missing his first back-to-back games since 2006. With Jacobs (knee) inactive that means rookie Da'Rel Scott will be suiting up for the first time.

For me, the other surprise here is that Petrus is inactive. I figured Jim Cordle, a backup center just added to the roster this week, would be active. I figured the Giants would also try to keep Petrus active, though, possibly dropping a linebacker like Mark Herzlich.

For Seattle, scratch WR Mike Williams, G Robert Gallery, CB MarcusTrufant, QB J.Portis, CB B.Maxwell, LB M.Smith, and T J.King. The loss of Trufant wil be significant for Seattle's secondary.

Other than the inactives, I'm really curious to see what -- if any -- adjustments the Giants make in run defense today.

It sucks to see Jacobs out, but...

Today might be the day where Da’Rel Scott shows what he’s really made out of.

Has Petrus been activated at all this year

I thought he was hurt ,after seeing so much of him last year he has been invisible so far this year

Giants only activate 7 O-linemen every week. Petrus can’t crack activated lineup yet.

Yes

he simply is not versatile enough yet, almost all the other Linemen can play multiple positions and have before so i just think its a trust thing right now.

All these injuries just expose how talented we really are

Reese and staff have done a great job with the depth…..also Kudos to the coaching.

To be honest our inactive list is not the news here, theirs is…… They are missing their best CB, a good interior lineman and their best possession receiver.

Eli should have a big day through the air….i say we try to run but dont really force it, that front plays the run well but the pass will be there.

The thing about that is you cant inactivate Herzlich this game

He is inadvertently tied to Tuck, with Tuck down and Osi just coming back, Kiwi might see some time at end in Base so Herzlich kind of has to be up just in case.

Also Herz plays ST very well and we need all hands on deck for Leon Washington.

Petrus is an interior lineman, seattle is solid on the edges, thats why we will see Andrews so much this game as well as ALL OF THE TE’s, Bear will help on Clemons and Ballard and Andrews will help on the 323lb LE Red Bryant.

Not happy it may happen at the expense of Jacobs. But id rather jacob 100% running downhill, then tip toeing it at the line.

id rather deactivate beckum and use Petrus or andrews as the extra TE.
Petrus played great last year vs. seattle.

I glad Tuck and Jacobs won't play today..We need them healthy..

It’ll be fun to see Da’rel play..and I think Ware will have a great day..I don’t think this game is a pushover, they never are but with Eli playing with a QB rating of 139.5 in the fourth quarter, we should beat a team we’re supposed to beat..this is a good litmus test..Somebody here stated that they were surprised at how much talent we have after all the injuries…so am I..Nice

We have a deep team

everybody who’s been called on to step up has ( with the exception of Beckum, he has tp step up ). I like the fact that the rooks are getting their feet wet with playing time being that there were no OTA’s or minicamps they have done extremely well. Going into next year we should be stacked. The offensive line play however has been a little bit of a concern, Baas has’nt looked as good as we hoped so far ( maybe communication is the issue ) McKenzie and Diehl have’nt looked as dominant as they used to. This needs to be fixed by the time we get to the difficult part of our schedule; as we will need to have the running game in full gear for the upper echelon teams to make the seriuos run I know we can make.
