Madden, why do you hate Victor Cruz

Alright we all know that Victor Cruz is doing work right now and I am beyond happy and glad that we picked up this undrafted kid from Zoo Mass, but why the hell does Madden 12 seem to hate him.

New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz currently has an overall player rating of 73. This is ridiculous, he deserves to be about anywhere from 10 to 13 points more. As I write this before Sunday's game Cruz currently ties the Giants number one wide receiver, Hakeem Nicks, with touchdowns at two apiece. Cruz is averaging more yards per reception than any other player on the Giants, with 20.5 yards per reception. Cruz is second to Nicks in receiving yards this season at 225 yards, which is equivalent to 56.25 yards per game.

Already this season Cruz has had a 100 yard receiving game, against the fearsome Philadelphia Eagles secondary, and last week against the Arizona Cardinals he was a mere two yards shy of having another 100 yard receiving game. And remember the Eagles did not lose their number one cornerback this offseason, like some people, but they went out and bought a guy who is supposed to be the either the best cornerback in the league or second to Revis. And lets be real Cruz made Nnamdi look stupid that game.

he needs to do this for a couple more weeks to justify a bigger upgrade

right now it could just be considered luck. Anyway, he had the biggest upgrade in the league after the philly game. I dont know how they changed him last week.

Madden ratings dont usually change from week to week

so 73 sounds about right. I expect him to be about 80 by the end of the year

madden pulled the ratings curve down last year

80+ players are solid starters who would pretty much start on any team.

70-80 players are spot starters and role players, or young players on the way to establishing themselves as reliable front line players.

Cruz has flashes but he’s not established as 80+ yet.

Breaking down Madden rating, especially after the Seahawks game, he should probably get higher spectacular catch ratings, medium awareness rating (which really pull down the overall rating), good catch in traffic ratings and medium route running ratings. All that should net with the other ratings to be low to mid 70’s at this point. And since Madden 12 has ratings for consistency, he should be at the lowest end of that, as he can make you or break you from one play to the next.

Still a pretty high upside player. In Madden he should have high B or even A potential in franchise mode.
