Giants' Roster Moves: Brian Williams Released
When the New York Giants added center Jim Cordle and cornerback Justin Tryon to the active roster on Tuesday, the only player they removed was wide receiver Brandon Stokley. Another roster move was promised today, and that has come to pass as the Giants have terminated the contract of veteran cornerback Brian Williams.
A 10-year veteran, Williams was signed when Terrell Thomas was lost for the season. He played very little, however.
Pre-Practice Injury Update
The Giants don't always send me this stuff on Wednesdays, but since I have it this week here it is.
David Baas, Justin Tuck and Brandon Jacobs won't practice, Osi Umenyiora and Rocky Bernard will and Michael Boley might. And Prince Amukamara is not expected to return to the field until after the Giants' Oct. 23 bye.
Baas, who has a burner, is day-to-day, Coughlin said. Kevin Boothe, who played center the entire second half of the Giants' victory Sunday at Arizona, will again step in for Baas.
Tuck has neck and groin injuries which kept him out of the Cardinals game. Regarding Boley and Jacobs, Coughlin said, "Their knees are a little bit swollen. Boley may try to go today. Both are scheduled to go to tomorrow."
Umenyiora (knee) and Bernard (ribs) are on the early injury report, but Coughlin said they will practice.

Seattle's DTs
Who are their DTs? Are they any good?
We will need to establish the run and the starting Center will be important for that.
No offence to Mr. Boothe, but I’m glad we’re not playing Baltimore or Detroit in this particular game.
i think
you are being a bit unfair to him, he had one bad play on his first snap. he doesnt really play center, but as you can see he is a quick learner and played well in the rest of the game. Secondly he will have a whole week to prepare to play center not just any spot somebody goes down so i think he should be just fine not matter who we play.
He is no baas of course though
Giants Mets, JPP is a MONSTER
Certainly not trying to Bash Him
I just think it is true that he’s a Utility OLman, and not a Center by trade. Making adjustments and putting the ball between his legs consistently is a skill. I think it is fair to say that he’s not been doing it that long, and I’m just curious to know if he is going to face a large challenge on Sunday, or if he’ll be less challenged by the SEA DTs.
understandable
i mean if he was really great he would be starting. so obviously you are correct. and about the SEA DTs im not too sure but i dont think they are that talented that is just a guess. have no idea who they are. i think the biggest adjustment as you said would be the snapping, and the angles he has to take as a center when blocking
Giants Mets, JPP is a MONSTER
I think the offense should be able to do whatever it wants vs. the Seattle defense.
Seattle is 18th in ppg allowed, 14th in yards allowed, 14th in rushing yards allowed and 16th vs. the pass. Gotta believe after they watch game tape of the Giants, they are going to try to stop the pass, should open up the run game. They also have 5 sacks all season, 31st in the league. They also have 2 interceptions, not very good. They have a below average defense, Giants should be able to take advantage of it.

these team rankings are stupid if you ask me
every game is different in the nfl…. period.

esp after 4 games
some teams got creampuffs, others got nothing but playoff teams, too early to say anything definitively.
That's scary
because isn’t this suppose to be the creampuff portion of our schedule?
Quinn must go !!
Um, no they don't. we're 12th in ppg, that's better. Also, the first two games for the Giants scew the passing ypg.
We only give up 8 more passing yards per game than them, and the first two were way high.

I wasn't suggesting
their defense is actually better, just funny that you (and I) think we should have our way with their D, and yet, we’re giving up more yards. I’d say the fewer points are in direct correlation to us having more picks and sacks.
Possibly. We'd be statiscally better than them if the secondary was playing at all the first 2 games.

Solid statistical analysis right there
it’s like saying if jeter went 2-10 for the series but we take out a 0-4 day he’s hitting .300. Come on
not really.
Giants pass defense has let up an AVERAGE of 100 yards LESS passing in the last two games. Their overall average is skewed from the first 2 games. With that stat, they are still only letting up 8 yards passing more p/game than the Seahawks. Had the secondary been even average the first two games, we’d be giving up less than them. Troll somebody else.

After you just watched us barely beat the Cardinals
Do you really think we are going to have that easy of a time with the Hawks D. We might not have our starting Center playing, wich is usually the kiss of Death to our running game. While I agree we should win this one most likely it will be ugly.

A win is a win is a win, ugly or not I'll take it!
We should be able to generate a run game this week, but Seattle shouldn’t be taken lightly at all.

I still don't think we have
Much of a running game, I am more concerned with the snaps making it into Eli’s hands.
You can see a lot just by observing-Yogi Berra
I don't think this game is a pushover at all...
If the team does we’re screwed..I hate fighting wounded animals..

Married and lives with wife and kids… Also, I believe his fans absolutely adore him….

ups and downs
no Brian Williams – no sweat
starting Boothe at center? that’s where i’m nervous.
Shaun O'Hara is around a 90 in Madden, so we should sign him back to the squad
"Oh sir, the Giants of New York took on the Packers of Green Bay. And in the end, the Giants triumphed by kicking an oblong ball made of pigskin through a big "H". It was a most ripping victory."
Not too worried about Center
Thought Boothe played well once he settled in after a few plays vs ‘Zona. Key to Sunday’s game is our passing game to open up our running game. And Eli has to try to get MM into the game early.

Last Year's Debacle
We blew them out last year mostly b/c our Dline and blitzes left them helpless with a QB who was clueless.

2-0 actually
well 2-.5 because he was injured last year and didn’t finish the game. And one game was vs backups were they only won because Carney lost a last second fg.

lol, true
what concerns me is that Rice is looking like his 2009 form, Leon having some big returns and Lynch going into “beast mode”

lynch does have that Beast mode
doesnt he… running over the entire Saints Defense… This seahawks team is a solid team. With decent QB play, they could very well beat us.
Giants are young, and injured... Most importantly they are winning.
One game at a time
It’s a game they should win but the OL is still a scramble and the D hasn’t had a dominating performance just yet
So I say no game is a gimme
It’s already a wrap… might as well not show up tomorrow.

Why is Tom Quinn still here? I loves me some Coach Clawfin.
I dont sleep on any team in the NFL
Every team has a chance to win. Especially with the right scheme. I believe we have a better team than the seahawks and that should equate to a win… but, never ever sleep on them…
I remembered the most feared team in the league a couple years back was the 0-16 Lions… no one wanted to play them for fear of being the team that lost to them… Lions lost 6-8 games by 3 points or less, if I remember correctly. So much for walking over any team.
Giants are young, and injured... Most importantly they are winning.
I'm not going to get over-confident until after week 16 with these guys..

Not expecting any cakewalk. All the usual maxims apply: Win the turnover battle, avoid stupid penalties and giving up big plays, SUaMBP, pound the rock, etc.
I think we can win.
Details of the operations of an interstate dog fighting ring were revealed, with some portions involving drugs and gambling. Gruesome details involving abuse, torture and execution of under-performing dogs ... He admitted to being involved in the destruction of 6–8 dogs, by hanging or drowning...
