My Top 8 Best Games In Coughlin/Eli Era
#8 2004, Jan. 2
NYG 28 DAL 24 - Tiki ends Eli's nightmarish first season (9 games) with a storybook ending to a record setting night for him. Tiki scores on a 3 yard run with 11 seconds to go to help give Eli his first win as a pro. Eli contributes 3 TD passes to go along with Tiki's Giants record 1,518 yards rushing for the season. Tiki also led the league with yards from scrimmage that year.
#7 2008, Oct. 26
NYG 21 PIT 14 - Two days after my birthday I got to go to this awesome heaveyweight fight of a game in Pit where the Giants D sacked Big Ben 4 (?) times as Draft Class of '04's Eli beats Ben with a fourth quarter TD pass to seal the game. This game had everything; big plays, big hits, goaline stands, and LB Harrisons snap over the head of Pit's punter and out of the end zone for a safety stands out for me.
#6 2005, Dec. 4
NYG 17 DAL 10 - In a defensive struggle for the top spot in the NFC East, Antonio Pierce's fumble recovery and 12 yard strut into the endzone to the roar of the Meadowlands crowd is what I remember most from this one. This game helped propel TC and Eli to their first division title.
#5 2006, Sept. 17
NYG 30 PHI 24 - The Eagles dominated this game after giving up a 37 yard TD pass from Eli to Amani on the Giants first drive. The Eagles entered the 4th quarter with a 24-7 lead before the Giants erupt for 23 points in the 4th quarter and OT, capped by Eli's 31 yard "walk-off" TD pass to Eagle killer Plax.
#4 2005, Oct. 30
NYG 36 WAS 0
Giants honor "The Duke's" passing by crushing Skins at home behind Tiki's 206 yards rushing and 1 TD. I recall something to the effect of Tiki taking himself out of the game after scoring that late TD and giving the ball to Wellington's grandson, despite being mere yards from the Giants single game rushing record.
#3 2008, Jan 13
NYG 21 Dal 17 - In the first ever playoff meeting between the big rivals, Giants beating the 13-3 Cowgirls was a great day. The Giants D-line outlasting and outperforming the Dal O-line, as well as RW's last second INT is memorable for me in this one. Also that quick drive right before the half to tie it when Eli hit Amani for his second TD of the first half was oh so huge. Loved this game.
#2 2008, Jan. 20
NYG 23 GB 20
Soooo much to remember from this game. Both on the field play and off. Like Strahan's speech to his teamates; "The past is the past", etc., or TC's face, or 0 degrees with -23 windchill. How about the INT-turned-fumble by RW? But who can forget Eli to Plax to the tune of 11 catches, 151 yards, or 27 demolishing Woodson on that first run. My favorite Giants game ever. But....
#1 2008, Feb 3
NYG 17 NE 14
What a Super Bowl to be a part of. 18 and 0.... nuff said

I had trouble coming up with 10,
hence the list of 8. Your 2 bring back great memories too. Especially when Bradshaw ran us into the playoffs with that 80+ yard run in Buffalo as the snowflakes seemed to get bigger as he ran… lol

hells yeah
I was there, such a crazy game. I missed the Bradshaw run… I was in the restroom…. I’m still mad about that.

Forgive me for my ignorance,
im new to the site, but, what is a “fanpost”… its obviously not a good thing. I get the impression that its a post that does not meet certain…ahem, standards, perhaps?
"Just when I thought you could'nt be any dumber, you go and do this... AND TOTALLY REDEEM YOURSELF!!
it's the exact opposite of how you are interpreting it!!!
what you just made was a fanpost. It’s exactly what it sounds like…a fan…making a post.
and this was a good one.
I get it now
I guess I was tooooo sensitive and got the wrong idea. Thank you very much for the clarification, I feel better now :-)…. and being 2-0 in jerry’s palace is awesome… AKA Eli’s world
"Just when I thought you could'nt be any dumber, you go and do this... AND TOTALLY REDEEM YOURSELF!!
Some people put posts in here
That are of poor quality and rather crummy to read.

Wow,
had’nt thought of that…. cut our turnovers in half and we might very well had been playing tomorow to see if it would be an all NY SB in Big D.
"Just when I thought you could'nt be any dumber, you go and do this... AND TOTALLY REDEEM YOURSELF!!
great post
brought back some good memories.
"Oh sir, the Giants of New York took on the Packers of Green Bay. And in the end, the Giants triumphed by kicking an oblong ball made of pigskin through a big "H". It was a most ripping victory."
Wish that happened this year....oh well.
thats what I needed myself,

Cannot believe the TB play-off win is
not there. play-off wins are too hard to come by. Sorry but I love the tiki 200 yd domination games. Washington into the play-offs and KC and oakland.
Playoff wins are hard to come by
cant argue that, but these games all meant something a little more for me. Not to discount TC and Eli’s first playoff win together, but the 3 games that followed that TB win really over-shadow beating that weak 9-7 NFC South Champ. And that Oak win to get in the playoffs was a good one too, but losing the next week and being one and done in the playoffs makes that win hollow for me. That comeback win against KC is a great addition.
"Just when I thought you could'nt be any dumber, you go and do this... AND TOTALLY REDEEM YOURSELF!!
Call me crazy
But the loss to New England week 17 in 07 is one of my favorite games.
7-9 gets a home playoff game. Ugh.

Not crazy at all
All the emotion of that game… our NY Giants being the last line of defense against NE’s perfect 16-0 regular season, TC playing all his troops, Eli’s outstanding play, the late lead, that game felt like a HUGE playoff game to me.
"Just when I thought you could'nt be any dumber, you go and do this... AND TOTALLY REDEEM YOURSELF!!
another favorite of mine
October 23, 2005 – Home against DEN – last second TD to Amani for the the win.

Down two 23-10 with like four min to go....
Jason Elam missed a FG that kept it at two scores. Eli was great on those two drives. That’s one of the very few home games in Eli’s career I didn’t attend!!

"The Eagles still have 0 SB wins"-bleedblue12
Down 23-20 too....
Is what that should have read!!!!

I missed watching
that game because I was traveling, thank God for DVR’s…. Amani was an awesome WR for us. When I see SS12 make a sideline catch with his feet inbounds, it reminds me of 81 and I cant help but think Amani must have coached him on how to do that because he was as good as it gets with those sideline grabs.
"Just when I thought you could'nt be any dumber, you go and do this... AND TOTALLY REDEEM YOURSELF!!
Amani was my fav
Him and Ike togther was funny to watch too… not too flashy but they both got the job done. When Plax came in, Toomer was a great 2nd WR and 3rd down target for Eli.

Your screen name
kinda gives away your love for the guy…. even before looking at your profile :-)… I always got a kick outta when Bommer would say “the always well dressed”. For that period when he was a Giant, he was one of my favs too. I have a great picture of him from the GB title game when he made that grab on the sideline and stayed inbounds. SS12 reminds me of him some and there’s some lineage there for me because the two played together.
"Just when I thought you could'nt be any dumber, you go and do this... AND TOTALLY REDEEM YOURSELF!!
that was a great catch in GB
he was one of the best at it

surprised Tomlinson's not sitting on the bench with his cape yet
Last night, a comedian died in New York. Somebody knows why. Somebody knows
was on the field
for #4.
What I remember most was the sun breaking through the clouds and beaming into the stadium about an hour before the game.
Skins simply had no chance, tribute/kate singing natl anthem, once the actual game started. Emotion won this one and my highlight reel looked like I just looped video of Tiki running at me. Best day of work ever
Prove me wrong TC.
thanks for the mental imagery
you just provided me with. I forgot about Kate signing the Anthem. Skins never did have a chance, did they. And that’s the part of the game that fascinates me most, the psychology of the athlete. My jaded Giant fan friend said to me not long ago: “so what exactly am I rooting for each sunday? Motivation? High Energy? A good speech from the coach.” I found that funny but insightful :-).
Flynner, are u a cameramen? Best day of work ever….
"Just when I thought you could'nt be any dumber, you go and do this... AND TOTALLY REDEEM YOURSELF!!
yeah
I’m in the news in Albany, and up until the NFL cracked down on the number of camera’s on the sidelines I used to shoot all the home games. Greatest seats in the house, and gettin paid for it.
And your friend brings up good points. the talent on all of these teams is usually compirable and emotion can get you a long way, too bad it’s few and far between that this team shows up like that
Prove me wrong TC.

good post
a couple others that came to mind:
Dec 11, 2005: Giants 26, Eagles 23. Two weeks after the Giants’ brutal overtime loss in Seattle thanks to three missed Jay Feely field goals, the Eagles played highlights of his misses on the video board as he lined up for the 36 yarder in overtime. But he nailed it, the Giants won and cruised to a division title.
2007 week 3, Giants 24, Redskins 17. I was lucky enough to be at this game in DC. In fact, I sat only a few rows from the endzone where the Giants stoned the skins at the goalline to cap a fantastic comeback after trailing 17-3 at the half. Kawika mitchell made the big hit to save it on third down, and on fourth down the redskins had no chance. Sitting there celebrating with my brother, we had no idea that it would be a turning point in an eventual title run.
2007 week 14, Giants 16, Eagles 13. Another road game I was lucky enough to attend. I remember arriving at my section in my Eli jersey as the entire section pointed and booed at me. I remember seeing the Eagles with no safety help on Plaxico’s side of the field before the snap, and I loudly predicted the 20 yard slant for a touchdown. As my words came true, the Philly crowd groaned and I screamed “I told you! You can’t cover Plaxico one on one like that! no chance!”. That was fun. Akers almost tied it at the buzzer on a 57 yard field goal attempt, but it bounced off the upright and landed in the endzone. Philly groaned again and my brother and I jumped up and down in celebration. Great feeling.
WOW
you went to two great games on the road that year! Im sure you’ll never forget your “prediction” to Plax come true. Thats what is great about being a sports fan, moments like that…
"Just when I thought you could'nt be any dumber, you go and do this... AND TOTALLY REDEEM YOURSELF!!
Great Post!
- is by far my favorite game ever. i laughed outloud for 3 hours after that game out of pure joy.
- is a very close second. I was watching that game with a couple of college buddies who were philly fans. got hammered by them all game long and to come back and win like that in the 4th quarter was magical…. kind of reminds me of something that happened this yea between the Giants and Eagles? Karmas a bitch

Another great game was
at the end of the 08 season against the Panthers fighting for the #1 seed. Derrick Ward 201 yards on 15 carries!
Oh yeah,
when he and Jacobs were both killing the Panthers D. That was a night for the running backs on both teams. Deangelo Williams had 3 or 4 TD’s in that game. When Jacobs got that final TD run in OT, I thought we had “righted the ship” for 2008. That was a dominant-ass Giants team that year. Until….
