Sage Rosenfels the new Giants backup QB
Just read the news on NFL.com, snagged him for conditional picks in 2011. Also part of the deal is Darius Reynaud, WR/KR. Couple of good moves in my opinion, this solidifies the backup QB spot and also gives the Giants another option in the return game. This most likely marks a return to the practice squad for Rhett Bomar and the end of D.J. Ware's tenure as a Giant. Your thoughts?

Ware's probably gonna stay as teh #3 back
Bomar’s probably gone cuz he’s not making it to the PS (he does I’ll be surprised and thrilled).
Reynaud is the real deal as a returner, but I dunno if Devin Hester could do anything with this blocking on returns.
i would like to see ware stay on the team
but i think andre brown is going to supplant him as the number 3 back. i agree that no one, no matter how special of a return man, could do anything with this special teams unit, for whatever reason they are just so bad. as for bomar, i dont think he’s turned that many heads around the league and should make it to the PS.

I agree folks...
I think Ware is done. I do think he’ll catch on elsewhere. If Bomar is demoted he most certainly would be gone, too. BTW GiantsReignSupreme, you beat me to the punch!

Not really great on this move
I agree that the Giants are a bit vulnerable at QB with Sorgi going down. However, I would have been happy to take a risk and keep Bomar as the backup. Sorgi and Rosenfels are short-term options. I think Bonar could develop as the backup, he has shown that he has ability. If he clears waiver and moves to the PS we can breath a sigh of relief, if not I think we have (a) lost a player that could be very useful in the future, and (b) are back in this same position next year. If Eli goes down with an injury that takes him out for more than 1-2 games then I would be no happier with Rosenfels than I would have been with Bonar.

Bomar can be our ST wedge
we need blockers!

In reality
Bomar could serve as our entire ST. I have no doubt in his ability to kickoff, smash the KR, force a fumble, recover that fumble mid-stride, and takeoff from the goal line to score a TD while slam dunking the goalpost. I’ve seen him do this in practice…

no wonder they want to put him back on the Practice Squad
he can be the whole scout team our first teamers play against

Bomar and Ware stay
No shot of either one of them leaving the 53 man roster. It is WAY too late for any QB to come in and run the Giants offense. If the Giants need somebody to play for Eli in the first 4-6 weeks, it will be Bomar. After that, he probably won’t dress.
Ware has to stay because Brown’s turf toe makes him questionable. Besides, he’s good enough to play if Bradshaw or Jacobs gets hurt.
Since Reynaud was expendable to the Vikings because he wasn’t good enough at either WR or then at RB, we need to evaluate where he fits on this roster in the place he’s least likely to play. That seems to be as the 6th WR and not the 4th RB.
So here’s your question: If the Giants don’t trade one away, which WR ends up getting cut? It’s not a pretty thought, but it seems like the likely one.
No who has potential is getting cut for Reynaud
Reynaud’s position is irrelevant. they can call him another DT for all it matters, he’s not playing any position on the field.
They ain’t gonna cut someone like Cruz just cuz Reynaud is technically a WR
And to answer my own question
The answer is: Hagan. That kind of sucks, but it’s the only thing that made any sense.
I agree about Bomar
I like the kid. I think he played better than any practice squad QB given the situation he was in. He may have been rough but overall he really didn’t make that many mental mistakes. His mechanics need work and he needs playing time but I think there are probably more than a few teams where he could be a #2 right now.
He should be traded instead of cut.

I think a 5trh rounder is WAYY too much for a QB that is unlikely to play at all

The 5th rounder was for Reynaud
If Sage doesn’t play at all, he will have been dealt for a 7th rounder.
