George Blanda dead at 83.....

I feel sorry for anyone who never got to watch the old AFL in the early sixties.  These teams were all offense all the time.  Today we lost one of the greats of the AFL who played well into the seventies.

Many of you guys probably never heard of George Blanda, much less watched him quarterback the Houston Oilers in the old AFL.  I didn't know he had played for the Bears in 1949.  He played for an astonishing 26 years and when he took the field for his last game he was 48!  He held th NFL scoring record for years as a quarterback and a very successful place kicker.  I remember him coming in to play quarterback at age 42 to relieve Jim Plunkett.

Please read the link I have provided and you will gain a measure of respect for a guy who deserves our respect and a tip of our hats.  We loved you man!
