Options to consider for Backing up Eli
Quarterback options??
I'm not absolutely sold on the ability of Rhett Bomar to carry the team in case Eli gets hurt this season and I personally do not like the Rumors of Matt Leinart being a NY giant at all. I recently read That Chris Simms is still uncertain if he will make the Titans 53-man team roster. So what if Chris gets cut by the Titans?? Just my opionion of course, and obviously i'll admit that I'm also abit bias. But this would be a great move on Jerry Reese's part to bring in a valid backup quarterback with some real game time experience. Chris Simms would definitely fill that roll perfect.

Im not sure...
with Chris Simm’s recent run in with the law, if the Giants will look at him
Too bad Kellen Clemens allowed Tannenbaum to strong arm him...
…I wouldn’t mind giving him a shot at back up
Simms is a pothead, doubt Coughlin deals with that, despite the family name meaning something here.

Hey, unproven studies have proven that moderate use of pot improves focus.

How much use is considered moderate?
Just curious…for a friend…of a friend.

Simms (Chris not Phil)
is terrible. He played ok football in TB 5 years ago. He couldnt make the Broncos and he probably wont make the Titans. Tell me again why we would sign him? And he is a lefty, not that i care but a few people felt the need to bring that up about Leinart.
I'd do it.
I like nostalgia.

Bomar
everyone else is a waste.
Bomar may not be the “most ready”, but he’s got the most potential. This is Eli F&*kin Manning we’re talking about.
Lets not go all ESPN and forget that only his brother and Farve have a longer starting streak. He’s had plantar fascitis and seperated shoulders on numerous occasions, as well as the other injuries that partake in having David Diehl as your LT.
Eli is a rock. I’d rather them worry about backup to the backup offensive coordinator then the backup QB.
Lets worry about the dork who carries Gilbride’s son’s head-set chord. He has a better shot of missing important time then Eli.
That's great,
…but you need three guys. (That clipboard gets heavy.) Where’s the Hefty Lefty?
I left my swagger in my other pants.
lefty!
I was just talking to a buddy about him and wondering where he was. According to his wiki page, he is out of football after getting cut by the Colts in 2008 and signed with an arena football 2 team, but they folded. Lorenzen was hired on March, 23, 2010 to become the Quarterbacks coach at his alma mater, Highlands High School, in Fort Thomas, Kentucky. So it sounds like he’s done with the NFL.
thought I saw him in the Nathan’s hot dog eating contest this summer

I'd be all for Simms
The guy was great in TB before exploding his spleen and playing on like an iron man. He has the game experience and abilities to manage a game and not put us completely out of contention if Eli went down. Would he be as good as Eli, no, but he would be better than Bomar (at least at this point in their careers). Simms would know his role and do his job. Of course he didn’t stick in Denver they have two first round picks as backups, but he actually gave Orton a run for his money on the first QB competition go around. The Titans wanted him in case they needed a backup for Collins, but since VY seems to have turned his life/career around and they got old man Collins and a young kid to develop Simms is the odd man out. He’s not someoen to develop at this point, he’s just a solid backup QB. He could be for us what Hostetler was for his dad.
He was ok in tampa
And not even for a full year. He played 11 games for Tampa one year and had an ok qb rating. He has sucked ever since. He wasn’t even great in Texas.

None of the above
well, maybe Bomar. I’ll take Sage or Tavaris, depending on who the Vikes cut, and I do think they’ll cut one of them. Who knows maybe we’ll bring in the fabled Jeff Garcia!
Bomar
Bomar will do just fine. He’s shown flashes, but has also shown he still needs work. That’s kind of expected since he hasn’t had much playing time at all. It’s all growing pains. Eli went through them as well.
On the other hand, if the Giants really feel pressed to bring in a veteran backup, I wouldn’t be opposed to seeing Garcia come in.
Maybe we can lure in Daunte Culpepper (haha….JOKE people…just a joke!)
The next person who suggests Jeff Garcia
will be banished from this site forever. Brisulph told me so.
They will only be allowed to visit bigbomarview.com.

lol
I really don’t see a problem with Garcia, other than his age. The guy has been decent the past several years and doesn’t throw many ints. I still think he’d be a good backup. But we’re going to roll with Bomar anyways…so i guess its a moot point.
actually, it's a moot point because
as has been discussed and declared and explained ad nauseam at this site, Garcia is not in any way eligible to play in the NFL thanks to his existing contract.

I don't care who it is
As long as it doesn’t cost us any draft picks.
