That’s how it always is. However I’m glad and relieved to know eli is ok the rest of the injuries bother me but not as much as elis did

Eli is fine

They just don’t know whether he should be wearing a helmet while his cut heals. They don’t want it to reopen.

Eli will play Saturday

Even if the next game was now he’d be in pads ready to go. Imagine if that happened to romo, though? People magazine and the View would be going crazy. He’d be out for 4-6 weeks of recovery and another 2-3 after that for the plastic surgery to heal.

I heard they broke 12 needles trying to put the stitches in...

something like they couldnt break the skin of steel, finally Eli had to stitch himself

Gerris just made the team

Unless – or until – he gets hurt.

I know it was against marginal player but he really looked good last night. Maybe he finally feels some pressure.

And I am not sure if activity = productivity but Dillard was all over the place.

by MSP Giant on Aug 17, 2010 6:26 PM EDT reply actions

I agree...

I feel really encouraged by our draft so far, even though it’s really early. Dillard was all over the place, and looked really comfortable at MLB. He made a great shoestring tackle right at the line while filling the hole. Linval looked like he’s going to be a problem for opposing OLs. Actually, I’d might even start him. JPP looked so raw, but man, he’s got some serious potential. He made the Jets RT look like he was in cement on that sack. He overpersues quite a bit, but we can work on that. Imagine where JPP is going to be in 2-3 years. He’s going to fit in nicely.

by WideRight! on Aug 17, 2010 8:51 PM EDT up reply actions

I liked what Dillard was doing pre snap

I liked how he would approach the line…than drop back….and vice versa. You could tell that at times the Giants were definitely conscious of doing just that. But I thought after the first couple of drives they got pretty stationary until Dillard came in.

by andiamo708 on Aug 17, 2010 9:01 PM EDT up reply actions

I thought

Dillard had some nice moments, but he didn’t look very good in coverage. He reminded me of Pierce on a catch by one of the Jets second or third team running backs. He’s definitely got some work to do.

I agree on Linval, the sooner they feel comfortable getting him in there the happier I’ll feel.

by Tucker Fredrickson on Aug 17, 2010 11:17 PM EDT up reply actions

Yeah

but the back that burned him was a smallish “scat back” so while that was not a great example of coverage I am not sure too many MLBs cover that guy well

by MSP Giant on Aug 18, 2010 8:15 AM EDT up reply actions

I was not impressed with Dillard

He was all over the place, but that isn’t always a good thing. He seemed more frantic than flying to the play. He looked very poor in coverage with an Antonio Pierce style play against a scrub RB. He didn’t do so hot against the run either. He looked undersized out there and played like it getting manhandled. I can’t be sure it is the same play, but what you call a shoestring might have been a play where I call him getting smacked down. He came up to the hole and got laid out and just managed to trip up the RB. As the MLB he should be going in there and stuffing that RB. Just tripping him up is giving an extra 3 to 4 yards.

Barden ????

Barden!

yeah that came from out of nowhere. I hope the Pharoh’s reign is not short lived.

by The Always Well Dressed... on Aug 17, 2010 6:48 PM EDT reply actions

Well

All said and done we got out of there without anything major..Shame about Blackburn..That really screws up our special teams which already stinks..Barden was a surprise injury to me..As for Eli, they’ll have to chain him to the bench to keep him out, but I agree that the helmet may very well influence his playing for a week until it heals up.

I just listened to AB's interview over at Giants.com

He really sounds like he wants help from his Oline…in fact…he’s flat out saying it….and I don’t blame him.

it shows that OL players are so anonymous

that even teammates don’t realize when 2 All-Pro (HOFers?…one possibly is) don’t play.

Are you playing the Pick em game this year?

by G Fan in England on Aug 18, 2010 6:56 AM EDT up reply actions

+1

I don’t think RBs ever don’t know who is blocking for them, especially when the blocking isn’t very good.

That is cool..your a good fan..and as I said earlier, the Jets are going to be a team to be reckoned with this year..

If they stay healthy I think they’ll win their division..The hit Pace put on Manning was not intentional to hurt him..He was simply hard charging..Eli blew the checkoff and Pace had no idea other than to get to the QB..that is his job. Fortunately, Eli will be fine..We all hate to see our star players get hurt in pre-season…and it is usually due to stupid mistakes at high speed that causes them.

Anyone know status of Alford?

If it comes down to Tollfson, Alford and Bernard, keep two, that is an easy one – bye bye Rocky. He showed me little Mon night.

Good/Bad

As good as the defense looked at times is as bad as the offense looked all the time. Take out the improvised shovel pass run by Bradshaw & the circus catches by Cruz & they were flat awful. O-line is a disaster & the waiver wire should be required reading.
Special teams? Weren’t they watching last year?
Coughlin already has his completely- befuddled-Mouth-Open gape in mid-season form.
If I had to predict now I’d say 6-10.

6-10

Dude it was one preseason game take a chill pill. I thought the defense played pretty well for it being so vanilla. The offense had alot of starters not playing which we covered at nauseum. The bottom line here is the Jets were only up 13-10 when our starters left the field and gave way to the 2nd stringers. Not to mention our 2nd stringers played very well. Plenty of time for every one to get healthy.

by costanza! on Aug 18, 2010 8:40 AM EDT up reply actions

Okay...

Take out our 12 man on the field confusion and blocked punt and the Jets might not even put up 10 against our defense…

If if’s and but’s were candies and nuts we’d all have a wonderful christmas.

Glad Eli is Ok.....

and I would prefer him not play the next game. I guess we took his durability over the years for granted and not worry about a decent backup QB. When I saw the blood streaming Monday night I thought the season is over before it even started but so glad he will be OK.

CRAZY GLUE!

Seriously though, they do have that glue for cuts and it might help to keep it covered and closed in case the helmet hits against it. They glued my little daughter’s cut a few years ago. Stuff is a wonder!

by ronjohnson on Aug 18, 2010 11:19 AM EDT reply actions

Id start Eli this weekend anyway

give him one series and have a talk w/ your o line stating if eli gets touched one time.. they all gotta take him out for dinner. One lineman footing the bill at a time.

Id do this only to hype the “eli is tougher than yall think” to ESPN and the rest of the world.
