This is one of those numbers I am just not sure what to do with.
The most famous player to wear 71 as a New York Giant is defensive lineman Bob Lurtsema, who was with the team from 1967-71. Unfortunately, Lurtsema is best known as 'Benchwarmer Bob' who was part of two Minnesota Vikings teams in 1974 and '75.
Stacey Dillard a defensive lineman for the Giants from 1992-95, and started all 16 games in 1993. He finished his Giants' career with 78 tackles and 5.5 sacks.
Casey Merrill was a defensive tackle for 21/2 seasons (1983-85) and compiled 14.5 sacks.
