Mara said that
but the caveat is that Coughlin better not let the debacle of 2009 seep into 2010. If there’s a problem, fix it immediately. Don’t sit around waiting for it to fix itself. I’m referring to not firing Sheridan during the season.
This sort of thing always makes me scratch my head....
if you just look at it, it seems Coughlin’s status is fine and basically up to him whether he wants to end his career as the Giants HC.
Or its the ‘vote of confidence’ that usually means he really is on the hot seat.
Either way…..he’s gonna have to have more then a back to back 8-8 to get himself fired. IF he did, definitely, 2011 I’d think he’d be on the “hot seat”. Everyone knows the Giants gotta do better then last year, they’re a lot better then that.
Tough to iron out, but there’s really no reason he’s on a hot seat right now…like, if they come out of the game 0-3, he’s gone. Can’t see that.
He’s definitely got at least 16 games to show what he’s got and unless its a complete disaster (double digit loses), he’ll be back for 2011
Go New York Go!
Well timed article....
….after our little discussion from yesterday.
Defintely agree with John Mara and the Giants organization for letting Tom (at the very least) ride out the rest of his contract. He’s earned it.
Also agree with everything my dude FreeBradshaw said.
Kid’s got a lot of talent, and he’s definitely proven himself on these blogs over the last couple of years. He should be posied for another big year.
Prediction: I’m thinking 5,000 comments and 10 posts for the season.

Thank God he said that
so that all these idiots in the media and antonio pierce with his idiotic hot seat statement can shut up, Coughlin and Reese are a dream tandem, you dont find GM’s who draft and run and organization like he does every day! you also dont find many people who can lead men the way Coughlin does, their jobs are theirs to keep as long as they want it, of course there is a standard to up keep but who really thinks they cant do it year in year out, last year was an experience that they all probably needed, i expect us to be just fine, you fools who think coughlin is in jeopardy are ridiculous, his record and influence go along way to the Tisch’s and Mara’s, Wellington would roll over in his grave if either one of them lost their jobs because trust me, we can do much woooorst, everyone thinks cowher is an improvement over TC how????, TC runs a tight ship and i hope he is there as long as he wants.
