Now it's the middle of July and this is the notorious time of year where nothing happens in the football world. This means that Giants news is minimal and we begin to speculate what our season will look like and maybe even dream of our team making a big move just to shake things up. Well I've been thinking of moves that the Giants have a slim chance of making and decided to post them because we don't have much else to talk about.
The first move I was thinking of is the possibility of trading for Albert Hayensworth. Now I know this isn't likely to happen but it has been in some discussions around BBV. Now I have no idea who or what we would trade for Fat Al but it would be interesting to seehim in a Giants uniform. I know some of you are groaning right now at even the idea of having Albert in our locker room but he is definitely talented (when he wants to be) and he has openly said he would prefer playing in a 4-3. Just a thought.
The next move is probably the most likely to happen, the Giants picking up a veteran CB off cuts or waivers. Ed has pointed out that the Giants currently have only four CB's that are likely to make the 53 man roster. Now we made the mistake of going into the 2009 season with 3 safeties and we really do not want to make the same mistake again with the CB's. I don't know who we would pick up since the cuts haven't really been happening lately, but I would like to see the Giants pick up a solid veteran who could cover better than CC Brown (Sorry had to take a shot at CC for his comments that Ed told us about in another post.) I was thinking a guy like Deon Grant, a solid guy who is preferably a backup but could be a serviceable starter too.
Another move that has a good possibility of happening is us picking up a guy to be a KR/PR. Maybe adding a UDFA who returned kicks in college or maybe a speedy WR who isn't a great receiverbut has the ability to return kicks. All I know is that I don't want one of our starters like Bradshaw or Ross (ugh #31) returning punts or kickoffs and getting seriously injured. And while I don't want anyone getting seriously injured, the Giants really don't need a main player of theirs getting hurt.
My last move I was thinking of is probably unlikely but oh well. I got to thinking about our RB situation and maybe we need another name back there. This would only happen if the coaches thought Brown wasn't healthy enough and Ware or Johnson didn't make the roster. I don't feel confident with just AB and Jacobs because both have suffered injuries recently. No one us sure about Gantrell, Ware, or Brown so maybe we need a reliable veteran back there who would do us some good.
Now all these ideas are just speculations and have no evidence of acctually happening but it's the middle of July as I said earlier and I would like to hear everyones feed back. Also if you have an idea of your own I would love to hear it.
