Several Ex-New York Giants In The UFL

Teams in the United Football League (UFL) recently announced their rosters for the upcoming season, the league's second full year.

Below is a list of players on UFL rosters who have New York Giants' connections.

Hartford Colonials
Head Coach: Chris Palmer
(former Giants quarterbacks coach)

Andre Woodson (QB) -- Sixth-round draft pick in 2008, spent one season on the practice squad. Orrin Thompson (OL) -- Spent the 2009 off-season with the Giants before being among the final cuts of the preseason.

Las Vegas Locomotives
Head Coach: Jim Fassel (former Giants' head coach)

Adrian Awasom (DE) -- Played for the Giants from 2005-2007 as a reserve defensive lineman. Recorded one career NFL quarterback sack. George Wrighster (TE) -- Was in mini-camp with the Giants in 2009, but was let go prior to the beginning of training camp.

Omaha Nighthawks

Stuart Schweigert (S) -- Spent less than three weeks on the Giants' roster during 2008. He was signed during training camp and subsequently cut. Frank Walker (CB) -- A reserve cornerback for the Giants from 2003-2006. I think a lot of Giants fans were relieved when Walker went to Green Bay as a free agent.

NOTE: I don't think I missed anybody, but I might have. Feel free to peruse the rosters yourself and see what names you recognize.

I'm shocked,

yes, shocked that no one has grabbed Riley Skinner yet.

Wasn’t Awasom also the guy the Giants sent home from the Super Bowl for a DUI?

Beat me to it

Yeah, he got a DUI a day or two before the Super Bowl and that was pretty much it for him. I do remember him being good enough to start on some NFL D-lines, just not ours, but he definitely ‘flashed’ as they say.

He’s one of the better players in UFL.

Wow don't remember that Awasom thing

Frank Walker seemed to have a solid gig with the Ravens, guess he stunk there too

Gotta love

the name, Omaha Nighthawks, no day games for them?

His mother has a tattoo that reads, "Son".
Sharks have a week dedicated to HIM.

Ahman Green

is surprising that he would join the UFL when he could probably retire very accomplished career. Also Tony Parrish could just retire

EPL

They should demote the two worst NFL teams to the UFL like they do in the EPL. Detroit, Cleveland, I’m looking at you.

Rumor has it

That JR has a handshake agreement with Chris Palmer where he’s going to release Bomar right before camp and Palmer has him penciled in as a 2-way RB/DT

(yes, I’m bored at work)

I thought

Bomar was serving as commissioner of the league in his spare time … and had named himself startign QB for every team in the league.

Is Jamarcus playing in the UFL?

rules

They usually don’t like people travelling around the country while out on bail.

Just seeing the name Fassel

Makes me have to go to the bathroom. Almost like hearing about Ray Hanley again.

Give Fassel a break.

He wasn’t near as bad as Hanley or some of the guys who coached during the Wilderness Years. Actually a few were good football men, like Arnsbarger, a great DC and the milk-skinned guy with the Irish name who turned out to be a good GM elsewhere.

a few more

tank daniels – olb hartford, mostly practice squad 2007-08
orrin thompson – OT – practice squad 2009
craphonso thorpe – WR omaha, 2008 practice squad

and last but certainly not least – “WE LIKE” IKE Hilliard is the WR coach for FLorida.
