Giants By The Numbers: 78 Is For ...

Al DeRogatis.

DeRogatis was a defensive tackle for the Giants from 1949-52. He made two Pro Bowls and was once named All-Pro during that time.

His obituary in the New York Times states that DeRogatis' playing career was brought to a premature end at the age of 25 by a knee injury.

DeRogatis is known to many more for his excellent broadcasting career than his playing days, somewhat like former Giants' kicker Pat Summerall. His broadcasting career is detailed here.

Other Notables Who Wore 78
  • Jerome Sally (DT, 1982-86): A reserve defensive tackle, he compiled 18.5 sacks in five seasons with the Giants.
  • Greg Bishop (T, 1993-98): Started at either left guard or left tackle for the Giants from 1995-98.
