Vasquez-Marquez IV

If you want to see an old-fashioned brawl, watch these two go after each other for the fourth time tonight on Showtime.  Two of their previous three fights were voted Fight of the Year. Off the top of my head, I can't think of any fighter, now or in the past, who has been in more tough fights than Marquez  His fights with Pacquiao and Vasquez are classics.  Not recommended for those who don't like the sight of blood.

Most young guys feel the same way,

including my children/grandchildren.
Here’s my take:
Most boxing and MMA matches are boring.
There are more exciting boxing matches than exciting MMA matches.
The most exciting of the boxing matches are far more exciting than the most exciting MMA matches.
Anyway, I recommend that you google the videos of:
Ward-Gotti trilogy
Cotto-Margarito
Corrales-Castillo
Toney-Jirov
Barrera-Norales III
After watching them, you might agree.
Granted, boxing seems to be dying compared to MMA, although the big boxing matches make more bucks than the bif MMA matches.

I agree 100%

I have the same argument with my two boys most everytime they’re watching UFC. I think kids growing up with the WWE and them having been involved with wrestling is the main reason they think like they do. Boxing doesn’t get the exposure anymore, you have to look for it.

I agree with your comments about Leonard and Hagler as well. The last 30 seconds of each round Leonard would get busy and that was the impression the judges would leave the round with. Sure they were keeping score during the round, but it was the perception that he won the round.

i loved watching hagler fight

im too young to have watched it live, but dad showed me some fights, and damned he was good

Hagler is my favorite

When he beat Tommy Hearns’ ass so bad Hearns was like, running away in the ring, that was some of the best I’ve ever seen

The Leonard decision was terrible.

he launched harmless flurries with thirty seconds remaining at the end of a round. He stole a lot of points that way. Hagler’s among the top three middleweights of all time.

Hagler was robbed.

I think this is reason he retired. Sometimes it pays to be the “pretty boy”. Leonard received a gift the night he “fought??” Hagler.

Boxing is a great sport....and I love it

but it honestly sucks…..due mainly to corruption and ass holes like Don King.

I love the sport, love it….but i’ll be damned if i’m paying 60 bucks to watch a fight.

the only fight i’ll pay to watch is if Mayweather and Pacquiao agree to get in the ring.

I’d also watch this fight but i don’t have showtime….

Yeah, there are very few fights I'd watch myself.

Mayweather-Pacquiao is a must see. Last night’s fight was a bit of a disappointment what with its early finish signalling that it’s all over for Izzy. One of those eye cuts was to the bone. Any halfway decent fighter he faces from here on will have it open again within a coupla rounds.

Not Much of a Brawl......

On this night, Marquez had the eye of the tiger and reduced Vazquez’ eyes ground meat.

Look at the PPV buys for Mosely-Mayweather….1.2 Million…..Cotto VS Pacquaio did 1.5 million. Neither fight is in the heavyweight division.

And theWenz……folks have been saying it is dying for the past 20 years. Just because you can’t name any boxers don’t assume it is dying.
