Alan Faneca to the Giants??
Reports are out that he will be paid 5 mill from the Jets so he will take a job for the veteran minimum with the right team. He says in one interview how he loved NYC and so does his family. Why not pay him the league minimum for a veteran. What do you think? At the price it seems like a no brainer but.. I think you could pay him that for one year since this is an uncapped year and then next year let him go if the price is too much.

Tough call
He’s certainly better than Koets and Boothe, but he’s old and we just got Petrus. If we’re looking for OL depth, I’d like to see someone who can snap the ball. I know that’s Koets’ role but he makes me nervous every time he touches the ball.
I'd bring him in to teach Petrus the in's-and-out's of the position.

If you could get him cheap, then sure.
Can never have too much OL depth. He’s always been a good player.
I left my swagger in my other pants.
Not sure
He would be an upgrade over our backups but I think JR wants get younger.

Don't need him
The giants have enough guards and unless he can play tackle, he not coming to the giants.
I would take him
If we just didnt draft Petrus but it is intriguing especially since he is still a beast in the run game
Peyton May Have The Wins!!
But Eli Will Have The Rings!!!
Why not?
Get him… He is a nice insurance policy and im sure he still has something left in the tank. As we learned last year, you never know when the injury bug will bite. If he doesn’t cost us much lets get him.

We got depth
Beatty hopefully earns a starting spot. Diehl will start somewhere, I don’t doubt that he’s just too good.
So either Seubert or McKenzie…or both if Petrus wins out..should be backups.
Plus they signed a UDFA’s Dennis Landoldt and gave him $25,000 guaranteed, meaning he’s very likely to be a backup. He’s an OG/OT.
If Faneca was All-Pro Faneca..yes. but he’s not. I’d rather let Rich Seubert mentor Petrus anyway.
We do have a little depth but...
Lets be honest Faneca is far better than Seubert at this point and for the league min. of 7-800K well… I hear everyone talking about Beatty will be or hopefully wins a spot …I haven’t seen it, I mean the talent is there but he may need an extra year.
True we have some depth but we also have a lot of green/young players that maybe Faneca could help who knows. I don’t totally disagree with you but I don’t totally agree either so..
its all about fit and chemistry.
Seubert fits with us cuz the OL unit as a whole likes him. He works for us.
Plus, while he’s a great OG, the Giants OG’s just simply cannot be that tall, which I think is a big reason they drafted someone like Petrus instead of a OT early on or anywhere.
It doesn’t matter how good Faneca really is. What matters is how he fits, which I don’t really think he does.
I doubt the Giants sign him.

Who
is Dennis Landoldt? Can’t say I know him?

Penn State OL
Played OT and OG. I really dunno why he went undrafted..but he was a solid OL at PSU..just like most of their players.
I’m pretty sure there was a similar OL last year that went undrafted and got signed by the Patriots last year and he played and did pretty well for em. May be a future starter.
I think Landolt’s a similar type of talent. We may well have a future OL in him, or at least depth

nvm...that's someone else
the dude I’m thinking of is Gerald Cadogen. Bounced around from practice squads. Now he’s on the Colts.
We’ll see with Landolt. Usually they don’t go and sign a dude to a $25,000 contract right out of the gate.
Thats about what they pay the 7th rounders to stay on with them. So I’d say they expect him to compete and win a roster spot.

Talked to Jets fan today
and he had nothing nice to say about him.
I haven’t verified his numbers, but according to him, Faneca alone was responsible for SEVEN of the 27 sacks allowed last season.
WAS a phenomenal, perennial pro bowler but his best days are behind him. Pass
- Mohamed Sanu: A Giant in Two Years-
Would he want to be a backup or would he want to start?
If he wants to start then no. If he is willign to be a backup I would say get him cheap
Faneca
is now going to play in the desert, signed with Cardinals He was unemployed less than
48 hours, don’t think the Giants even considered him.
Maybe they did butttt
Russ Grimm and Ken Wisenhut are his former OC and OL coach so any former steeler player will probably look at AZ before any other team. i.e. Joey Porter
