What other holes/depth do you guys think we’ll need?
by Well-Rounded Cube on Apr 24, 2010 12:57 PM EDT reply actions
I like Petrus
but I wish that was a dude that can snap the ball.
Or unless they’re signing Darnell Stapleton now?
Deji Karim please!
FreeDeji!!!!!
yes but
marc ross said they had him return when they wanted a “safe” return. not sure exactly what that entails but w/e
they had trindon holliday for “non-safe”(?) returns.
Jones was still a pretty effective return man
when given the chance. I’m so excited about this pick.
More offensive line depth, definitely
we need RT. Maybe center can wait next year.
Reshad Jones didn’t get picked. Surprising.
Honestly, we should address KR.
…Trindon Holliday.
John Olerud, Hall of Famer. Got a nice ring to it.
Cardinals trade bryant mcfadden
good for them. mcfadden was absolutely horrid in that playoff game against green bay.
campbell is an oakland raider. I’ll miss him.
In case you missed it

People are being traded away for peanuts now.

Donovan Warren scouting report:
Warren’s choice to enter the draft after his junior season at Michigan has been questioned, which isn’t surprising considering that the Wolverines ranked ninth in the Big Ten and 82nd nationally in total defense in 2009, missing out on a bowl game for the second straight season. But despite those numbers, the talented Californian earned first team All-Big Ten honors, and there’s little debate Warren has the physical tools to develop into a strong cornerback at the next level. A top recruit coming out of high school, Warren proved his physicality with Michigan, totaling 170 career tackles along with six interceptions. Because of that attribute – and some experience at free safety – Warren has been discussed as a possibility at that position in the NFL, and such versatility can only help his draft stock. But with smooth hips and a confident swagger typical of a player who loves the man-to-man challenge, Warren is a cornerback first, and he started there for all three of his seasons at Michigan. Teams may have concerns about his consistency and his high-risk tendencies, and he could stand to add some more weight in order to jam NFL receivers. Those problems – along with a relatively slow showing at the NFL Combine – may cause him to slip to the middle rounds in April’s draft, but his upside and athleticism could nudge him into the first few rounds. Warren may not be the safest pick, but whichever team chooses him may be getting a future lock-down coverage corner who can shut down his half of the field.
i think theres a chance he'll be there at the 7th
if he really ran that slow
…or not.
Damn, I wish we could have a LB like angerer on our team

mayock's comment:
184 — Giants — DE Adrian Tracy
Another conversion prospect from the CAA. Moats went a few picks ago, and now Tracy to the Giants. Tracy is long, he’s athletic, and he runs well. My only issue with him is his ability to stack the edge. I don’t think he’s strong enough to be a three-down player yet. But, he has talent, and the ability to get to the QB. Six picks, with five on defense for the Giants.
Take a tackle, CB, or maybe another LB (Micah Johnson would make good depth) and I'm good
jamar chaney continues to slip.
I think Tony Washington or Blount would've been a better pick
but this late in the draft it doesn’t matter that much.

20 sacks in the past 2 years in college!
by mclaren_is_the_best on Apr 24, 2010 2:31 PM EDT reply actions
Well the competition wasn't very good but
Tracy was very productive over the last two seasons at William & Mary, recording more than 20 sacks. A bit of ‘tweener, size wise, he will have make the transition to outside linebacker at the next level. He is a heady player who does his homework and consistently makes the right reads and flows to the ball. His non-stop motor makes up for his less-than-elite measurables, but his lack of burst will limit his ability to get to the quarterback in the NFL. Plays a little high and will get blown out of the play too often. Needs to refine hand placement and technique against bigger and more athletic players. Tracy is a coach’s dream as far as effort and preparation are concerned, but his physical limitations make a him a late-round or free-agent prospect.

The ball is snapped. Lindell collapses the pocket JPP comes off the edge Kolb rushes the throw JPP TAKES Kolbs head off. Deshan Jackson makes aplay on the ball and is destoyed by Chad Jones. Boss is one the most underrated TE's in the league
The problem is
A): We don’t feature the TE in our offense that much
B): Eli is slow in his progressions and usually misses Kevin Boss wide open — a lot
disagree with B)
its more cuz Boss is slow getting out of his cuts
by FreeBradshaw on Apr 24, 2010 2:48 PM EDT up reply actions
I kind of see that
although sometimes I think Eli is zoned in on Smith. That INT to end the Cards game was the best example, Boss eventually was open running past the LB. Eli was already focused on Smith and threw into double teams when a lofted pass to Boss gets a TD and a win.

Ok
JPP will be a part of the rotation. We can afford to bring him on slowly at DE. Plus, some standing up downs as well.
Linval will also be a part of the rotation, especially the 1st two downs.
Chad Jones, outstanding special teamer, insurance for KP, and will be a part of the S rotation
Phillip Dillard, at best, starting MLB. Athletic, and great in pass coverage. At worst, competition for Kehl and Goff to step their game up.
Petrus: Big upgrade on goalline situations, can be brought along to the starting line up towards the end of the season. a look towards the future pick, much like beatty was.
Adrian Tracy: Could push for time in passing situations, and will be a special teams demon.

are the Feebles..
in our frickin’ draft room or what??
Matt Dodge
Here’s a quick take from NFL.com.
Dodge was a productive, three-year starter for the Pirates. He has above-average size and strength for the position. He doesn’t have elite leg strength but can drive the ball at times. However, he can be slow with his get-off times. His mechanics can be inconsistent, which affects his overall production as a punter. Dodge is adept at dropping the ball inside the 20-yard line and appears to have the raw talent to develop his overall skills. He has shown some versatility with the ability to kick off, and this should improve his stock in this year’s draft.
yeah
Feagles days were numbered. I didn’t think they were going in this direction after Feagles got signed and they grabbed the footballer from Australia. I know no one wants to burn a pick on a punter but I think we really needed a good one and I think he and Zoltan were the two best this year.
Will he get touchbacks on kickoffs?

He's very, very raw. A converted TE. He could develop to be a great player.
Isn’t Beatty a converted TE?

get back to being nasty and tough. No way, we’re going to get pushed around again. Can’t be choir boys and allow other teams to walk all over us.
I like it. We can hit, and we’ll hit hard.

Saw that.
I believe we got the better player from William & Mary. Parcells was looking seriously at him to become a 3-4 DE with some added bulk.

Lissemore or Tracy?
I doubt Tracy can be a 3-4 DE

Dillard's conference call exerpt.
Q: You played other positions at Nebraska – outside, weakside, middle. Is middle your best position? What kind of middle linebacker are you?
A: I can play middle or outside. Both I am great in the middle, too. I am great between the tackles. I always stay square. I never cross over. I am very physical and if you watch my film at times I might not get a play because I’m running downhill as I’m trying to knock out the pulling linemen because he is a threat to me, and I just love contact. I love being physical and aggressive. And my mental aspect is that I love to be in control of the checks and make the checks. And if you look at our defense, I made all of the checks from blitzes to checking high coverages, to checking man coverages and telling our corners or safeties or dimes what they are going to do and what check to make. That is just something that I love to do. I love to lead and have that on my shoulders, the quarterback of the defense. And if I get that responsibility, I am going to handle it with care.
Q: You did that this year from the weakside?
A: I did it this year from the MIC because we were mostly in dime and nickel because of our conference. But even when I played WILL playing base, sometimes I would still make the checks and I would still make calls. I have to check blitzes though.
Q: You sound very much like Antonio Pierce. Have you followed his career?
A: Yeah, I have. And that is another thing that I knew. I know that he left, and that he is off the team. So I knew that it would be a good possibility and a good fit for me. And I mean it’s a great organization, the Giants organization is great. All you hear is good things about how they take care of their players and they respect the players and everything. I’m stuttering right now and I never stutter.

Well if you add up what they have to what they got..I think we are better off we have some
talent with a year or two under their pads..I think overall, we did okay…Even though those self-proclaimed brilliant and analysts stated about every pick will “Have an immediate impact”..Most of them won’t…By the end of August most of them will all have had a visit from the ‘Turk’..As for linebackers, I have said for months, Goff is our guy at MLB..his job to lose..Sintim sounds like he finally is learning the playbook, Boley is on a mission..Osi is humble now (can’t blame him there)..I think we are going to be a team to be reckoned with..This Joseph guy..He is a frigging monster..He takes up about 10 yards just standing there..and I kinda like this JPP more now..Anybody that big that can do that back-flip routine is a freak of nature..and he is mostly seen rushing left but he looks good from the right also..plus he has that scary crazy look in his eyes..I think this guy is going to surprise us all.
"When I was a boy and had no sense I got my pecker stuck in an electric fence..Well it curled my hair and tickled my balls, and made me shit in my overalls"
The Eagles probably had the best draft as it mirrored ours with more picks and they jumped us twice or three times
The Skins did the best they could with as few picks as they had.
The Cowboys had a great top 3, but the rest is ehh
I think we did very, very well in addressing our biggest flaws and got depth to guard against injuries.
Unlike alot of people, I thought our run game suffered from injuries on the O-line and RB’s but the only thing I would have liked to see there was a sparkplug type of change of pace back with return abilities.
I think we didn’t do enough to strengthen our special teams, especially the return game. Jones has the ability, but no proven track record in that area.

just read the Chad Jones transcript
did his brother get drafted?
No beer and no girls make Big Ben a dull boy
wow
Q: How well do you know Corey? Have you heard from him?
A: I haven’t talked to him in these last couple days, but I know him really good. I almost try and talk to him three days a week. We have a good relationship going.
