Our Receivers
Ok, I know this is going to upset some people but such as life. Our 4 receivers; Smith, Nicks, Manningham, and Hixon are not a scary group for defenses to face. Smith is the best guy out there and at best he is a low 2nd tier receiver. The others shouldn't even be starters. The problem is we don't have a down-the-field guy any more, and every team we face knows it. Manningham can't catch a cold with those hands-of-stones. And he should have been the "next" guy. Eli had a ton of yards but everything was short passes and didn't get in the end zone. This also affects the run game because the defenses we face can load the box on us.
How did the Jets get Santonio for a 5th round pick? Then Brandon Marshall to the 'Fins for 2 second round picks? Why were we not after these guys? The receiving class in this draft is semi-weak at best. So how do we fix it? Two letters, T.O.! He is still out there without a job for next season. And with Santonio and Brandon going so cheap (per say) we can get him for nothing. I think going this whole offseason without any teams running after him will humble T.O. (and he is pretty quite the first season with a new team) Plus he would just love to beat up on the COWGIRLS and SHEAGLES twice next year! Let's not forget that with McNabb in Washington its another reason for him to have 2 more great games. That would be at least 6 good games out of him and that would put us back on the top of the division. He would also draw the double-team which would free up Smith and one other guy (hopefully) to have a monster season! LETS LOBBY FOR T.O.! Who's with me?!?

No one
TO is no longer an elite WR. A solid one, maybe, but afraid of contact and selfish. This was Manningham’s first year as a starter and Hakeem Nicks was a true rookie. They’ll only get better.
Further, Eli was 8th in TD’s and 10th in yards. 28 is plenty of touchdowns.
And Nicks, as a rookie, had a 16.8 Avg, good for 7th in the league. Sure, more than half of that was YAC, but that means he still stretched the field.
Oh, and 107 catches for 1220 yards is low 2nd tier? Really? A lot of talent is required to break the 100 catch threshold.
You need to get your facts straight.
well...
sometimes i go on rants too but this one is a bit far fetched even for my standards.
Nicks is very good and on the come up. smith is a pro bowl WR (I like typing that), and MM although makes us wanna pull our hair out has made HUGE strides in 1 year…if he can continue to grow than he could be that guy to stretch the field.
don’t forget about Barden who i think could be a terrific possession WR for us (if TC and KG ever figure out how to get him on the field).
Hagan and Hixon are solid backup/special teams players. I like them both.
I like our WRs w/ exception to someone who remarkably is still on our roster taking up space….who’s name i won’t even bother to mention.

considering I named each an every one of our WR w/ exception to one....
i think it’s safe to say I was talking about Moss there ;)

This post is stupid
The giants receivers was the strength of the team last year. The only wide receiver on the giants that is bad is moss and you must be drunk or on drugs if you think t.o is still good, he sucks just like moss on the giants. The giants are fine with their young recievers and don’t need an old bum and troublemaker like t.o.
I don't agree with anything you said
“And with Santonio and Brandon going so cheap (per say)”
I’m assuming you are referring to draft compensation, but Marshall just signed a 4 year 47.5M extension. That’s hardly cheap.
Our receiving core is young and hungry and could IMO potentially develop into one of the top units in the league.
T.O. has nothing left, and even if he did I wouldn’t want him.
I Am Tobikan Judan
Way to be completely wrong on everything
Our current offense with these receivers that “shouldn’t be starters” managed to score a lot more points than the Broncos, Steelers and Jets. That is with a QB with 1 healthy foot and 2 crippled OLineman. They also scored more points than teams with “down the field guys” like the Texans(supposed beast Andre Johnson) and Cardinals (Larry who?)
Also it’s funny that you make fun of Manningham’s hands then say we get TO??? who is notorious for dropping balls.

The Giants have very good receivers.
Smith, at 24 years of age, is already a Pro Bowler. Nicks (22) had a really nice rookie season. Manningham (23) has his issues but the talent is there. And then you sort of have a wild card in Ramses Barden (24). I mean… They’re not the Eagles receivers, haha, but what’s not to like?
yeah
our guys can actually make a play in the red zone

Wow
In all my time on this blog I have never seen a post that so consistently and thoroughly gets everything wrong the whole way through. Congratulations!

Perhaps
we should lobby to have this post removed.
No offence King – but if you posted this sort of post last year before Nicks and Ham played well you would have had some support to get a WR – after all last year was all about B Edwards and A Boldin.
This year no one is even suggesting a WR in the 7th round unless they are a return specalist and will replace Hixon.

I'll volunteer to pick up the saw....
after it lands safely on the ground, if you wanna stop sawing off that limb you’ve climbed out on with this post, but other than that, you’re on you’re own as far as I’m concerned. The ideas expressed make me think you must be Jerry Manuel’s roster advisor in your spare time.
WOW
this might be the most ignorant post i have ever seen on this site. After all the hype about whether or not we had the receivers to get the job done last year, I was BLOWN AWAY at how well the WR corp performed throughout the season minus a few key drops from Hixon/Manningham. To even consider going out and spending valuable draft picks on cancerous wideouts such as T.O. or Marshall is just pure ignorance. You obviously have no knowledge on how to play the game of football.
I wouldve deffinetly been after Marshall
FOR SURE!!! I think he is very very close to being the best WR in the league.
Peyton May Have The Wins!!
But Eli Will Have The Rings!!!
Rolando McClain, Brian Price, John Jerry, Jamar Chaney, Deji Karim, Kenny Alfred, Rafael Priest....... April 22-24th.
I agree but he could be a headache
The Tuna has taken chances on guys like that. We usually don’t unless it’s a draft pick and something relatively minor.
I won’t rip you to shreds king, but I feel this is the best most diverse group of receivers the Gmen have ever had. And I’m sure that most in our “cult” feel the same way.
