Sorgi to back up Manning again

If Eli goes down I give up anyway, but Jim Sorgi isn't the worst guy to bring in. At least he worked with Peyton for 6 years, not that he can teach Eli anything Peyton hasn't already. Sorgi's stats aren't horrible either even though he barely plays an 89.9 career QB rating isn't bad. Six TD's one INT and 2 fumbles career, in 6 years that isn't much game time experience. Hopefully we never have to find out how good he really is. It's just a backup that won't sniff the field but are you guys for this signing or against?

Can't argue with it

a veteran. A veteran backup, who knows he’s a backup.

Hopefully he never sees the field other then garbage time

And preseason.

Congrats on signing Sorgi

He’s a great back up and I’m sure will fit in with Eli right away. You lost one solid back up with Carr and got someone at least as good if not better with Sorgi.

Thanks

44% off us don’t feel that way, well for the time being.

I think it is an upgrade

He had to have learned something while attending the same meetings with Peyton all those years.

At least I don’t have to watch David Carr shot-put the ball around in the pre-season and during mop-up time.

Charlie: I'll just regress, because I feel I've made myself perfectly redundant.

Slight risk

Buys time to groom Bomar – if he is in fact has an NFL future.

The best thing about Sorgi is he knows his roll. A backup that knows he is a backup and does the things needed there to help the team is a great thing. He’ll be a benefit in looking over plays and diagnosing defenses with Eli between series, and he won’t pull any “start me” punk BS.

A good pickup

I can see it now…..Giants versus Colts in super bowl…..Sorgi tells all he knows….which is a lot!

Good signing

Put up decent numbers for a backup, and he’s only 30 years old.

Would have preferred Brunell

but this signing doesn’t bother me. Sorgi’s a good backup, and with any luck he’ll never start a game for the Giants.

He's the best clipboard holder in the NFL!

Personally, I’m bummed to see him go. Lord, now we have Painter…

He was basically one of Peyton’s assistants. Peyton would assign film for Sorgi to watch and Sorge would report back. He’s a smart guy.

I’ll miss garbage time: The Sorgi Orgy.

Hefty Lefty!

That’s it. We had him during training camp for the ’08 season.

There was no "meh" option

but I guess it’s better than Bomar at this point.

Homer: Aw, twenty dollars! I wanted a peanut!
Homer's Brain: Twenty dollars can buy many peanuts!
Homer: Explain how!
Homer's Brain: Money can be exchanged for goods and services!
Homer: Woo-hoo!

Sorgi signing

When you have a “franchise quarterback” like the Giants have in Eli Manning, you need a backup that knows his role. The back up on the Giants is not there to “push” the starter or to provide competition. The back up is going to play a little in the pre-season and then hold a clipboard on the sideline for the 16 game regular season schedule plus any playoff games. Hopefully, Sorgi will only be on the field in a mopup role during blowouts. Because if Sorgi has any meaningful playing time, you know that means the Giants are in bad shape.
