GIANTS HELMET....
Just because I have nothing else to talk about .....I was wondering how you fellow Giant fans felt about bringing back the '80s NY football GIANTS helmet.I always thought there was a slight intimidation factor in the old lettering and dark blue uniform. But i may be crazy........I always thought my feelings about it were in the majority . But as I think about it .I didn't take into account the older fan base. Hence this post . ....just because I'm curious.

i never liked the GIANTS helmet. Keep the NY. Also I like the blue color they have now rather than the dark blue.
Totally agree
The “GIANTS” Helmet is so 70’s and garishly cheesy. The NY symbol has the recognition that the Yankees logo does as it should
Bleeding Blue since 1962
Home vs. Road
What if the Giants wore the old GIANTS helmet at home and the NY helmet on the road? I like that idea. The GIANTS helmet reminds me of the LT-Simms era.
Giants Helmet
I say lets bring it back. I think it looks great.
When I think about it
Seeing “GIANTS” underlined is definitely more intimidating than “NY” in a smooth font.
LOL
It’s hilar that you guys think a helmet design will “intimidate” an opponent!

I gots no problem with the Giants uni's.
Being about o….5, when the Giants Parcells run was over..I have basically NO great memories with the GIANTS logo, other then a few grainy SB and playoff game tapes.
I’d rather keep the current uni’s.
Master of the squeegee
SBXXV was on NFL Network as well as America's Game
It brought back some great memories. It also made me drop any love I had for Jim Burt.
In the 49er’s playoff game Burt appeared to hurt Hoss unintentionally, but the next time I saw him near Jeff, he was punching at the same knee he injured a few plays earlier.
Let’s face it, the Giants uni’s in the 70’s-80’s were ugly. At least they took the red & white stripes off of the collar by ‘90. One of my prized posessions is my 1986 LT Jersey with the Spider 43 patch on it. I don’t wear it much due to the design, but cherish it nonetheless.
Great memories, yes. Attractive, no.

I dont know about the old helmet but.......
I would like to see us unveil new uniforms period with the new stadium.
But dont tell em i told you that !!!!!
Heh heh heh...
I still think that’s funny.
But I agree the “NY” looks cooler and def more classic and classy.

I like our current home uni's
but the 80’s away were so much better.
blue numbers, red underline and white socks.

New uni's
Any word on whether we will wear the red jerseys this year? Wouldn’t mind opening up the new stadium against the Cowboys with those bad boys on.
I Am Tobikan Judan
Although...
I don’t have any stats regarding this, maybe one of you guys do. But in recent memory I think we lost big divisional games more than we won when wearing red.
I Am Tobikan Judan
Yes.
And surely due to the uni’s and not at all because they kinda sucked at football those years.

Simple
The current uniform is just sooooo much slicker, if your a gmen fan from NY you like the ny on the helemet most likely, if you from Dirty Jersey you hate the ny so I get it but I’m from NY State and LOVE the ny on the helmet… we are the New York Giants after all aren’t we? The underlined GIANTS on the helmet is just cheesy 80s graphics.. either way it aint up to us!
Luck is when preparation meets opportunity.
im from (dirty) jersey
and i like the NY. u may play in my state but yea.. we are the New York Giants.
and jersey is only dirty by newark airport.. and camden.. and ac.. and trenton.. and paterson.. and… crap

New Jersey gets a bad rap.
I think it’s a beautiful state and spent alot of time there growing up. My Grandfather owned a home a block away from Bradley’s Beach in Pt. Pleasant and the Vernon Valley/Great Gorge area is incredible.
I was once overseas and heard someone ask people where they were from. They said “New Jersey”, and the person said “That’s in NY, isn’t it?”. I felt so bad for New Jersey when I heard that.
So, being a NYer, I ask y’all to take it easy on The Garden State.
Bleeding Blue since 1962
I was born in Sussex,
But raised in Vernon. My father worked at Great Gorge. Northern Jersey is actually quite nice from my memories.
i love nj
for real. i rep being from new jersey hard every where i go. i love this state and will most likely be here for a very long time. it is beautiful every where except in the cities i mentioned above. just tryin to crack a little joke there, but your right.. jersey is beautiful

My bad
I wasn’t insinuating that Jersey is DIRTY just using the nickname, I also agree Jersey is a nice state been there alot got family there been to toms river not just the northside… Glad to hear people from New Jersey like the ny though…
Luck is when preparation meets opportunity.
being born in 85 i have some memories of the old look
mostly remember mid 90’s on. even tho i voted yes bring em back, i do like the notoreity the current ny is starting to get. it really is turning into the new yankees ny which is ok by me

Not 100% but i would think
people who are over 50 and under 32 like the NY helmets. People in between. the GIANTS helmet. Us that came along for the fun ride in 1986 and 1990, miss it.
Dude, where did you come up with those ages? That's funny.
I’m 47 and its “ny” all the way. I was in Tampa for SBXXV, have had season’s tickets until the Great PSL Robbery of ’08 and have alot of friends who are Giants fans from 22 years old to 70. Not a one of my friends would go for the GIANTS helmet. Not one.
Bleeding Blue since 1962
I think he meant
if you grew up with the GIANTS from the 80s to mid 90s then you would prefer it and everyone else would prefer the NY which was before the 80s and now the 00s.

well my theory may have a flaw here or there.. but the survey is almost 50/50.
i really had no idea it would be this close.
I love the 80's uni.
It has nothing to do with intimidation factor or anything, I guess that is just the uni they wore when I became a fan. Plus up until 2007 SB 25 was like the greatest moment of my young sports life.
I'm old school ...
never liked the “GIANTS” helmet look, and when they had the 50th anniversary of the league in 1994, I just loved seeing the “ny” again. Don’t change it back !!!!!
I love the GIANTS uniforms
but I love the “ny” uniforms a little bit more. I still think instead of that hideous red uniform or any other alternate, they should wear the old 80’s uniforms once a year as a throwback/alternate type thing. I think that would be cool, and give us a little of both worlds.
