Would Ladanian Tomlinson be a good fit for the Giants?

I believe he would be a good fit. Think about it, Jacobs and Tomlinson would clearly give NY that 1-2 punch that they were hoping for with Bradshaw. Don't get me wrong, I love Bradshaw, but I"m not so sure he compliments Jacobs very well. Tomlinson can catch the ball out of the back field and probably give the Giants the receiving threat out of the backfield that they haven't had since Tiki.

OK so cost...I'm not so sure he'd cost a whole lot. You could probably give him a 2-year deal for decent money. This would also free up the Giants to trade Bradshaw and probably Ware as well. Remember, you have Brown coming back from injury, as well as, Gartrell Johnson in his first full year with the team. Next year, I believe Andre Brown will be ready. If he is, then that will give the giants the ability to dangle Tomlinson as trade bait next year. If he has a bounce back year, they may be able to get somewhere between a first and a 3rd round pick for him. Plus, this is a strong, veteran team. A bonafide contender, with a solid QB. This team is probably the best option for him, and I think he'd agree if we went after him.

No.

While I’d like to add a RB, LdT is not it.

Agreed

I agree with FB. Spending a ton of money on a back who’s well past is prime is a waste of resources and not the best long term answer for the Giants. If anything, address the RB position in the draft (Spiller or Best) or sign a different younger back for less who can be just as productive. LT is going to get his money but he’s going to get paid based on his accomplishments and his name…everything in the past…We need a strong future.

I voted No,

but I dont think we are set at RB. I dont want to sign an aging veteran that is less productive than 2 of the RB’s we already have on the roster.

What don't you like about Bradshaw?

Tough runner, hits the hole hard, catches passes. 4.8 yards per carry, was just shy of 1,000 yards from scrimmage last year, was far more effective than Jacobs, and he only turns 24 next week. And you’re suggesting trading him to make room for a big name guy at the end of his career that ran for 3.3 yards per carry last year?

Bradshaw wasn't the problem

Of the 1-2 punch we were looking for in Jacobs and Bradshaw we got a wiff-2 punch. Jacobs was playing soft, trying to be a moves back which he isn’t. He either needs to embrace that he is a head smasher and do it or he will fade into obscurity.

by bigblue777 on Mar 11, 2010 3:01 PM EST up reply actions

This...

Is a big year for Jacobs, imho, if he doesn’t step up this year…he will be a goner.
If I had a choice, I would rather have Westbrook than LT (don’t think Jints will sign either).

by Great Gatsby on Mar 12, 2010 9:29 AM EST up reply actions

Could drop him this year

To be honest if we can bring in a new bruiser back (Toby Gerhart anyone?) that looks good this offseason, I’d drop Jacobs this year. He has a big contract now that he didn’t live up to. He stopped playing hard once he got paid. That turns me off. Because this is an uncapped year we could get out from under that big contract without penalty. Being able to do that is dependant of course on being able to get a replacement bruiser that sows us enough that we can be confident that he can handle the job.

I couldn't vote for either

We’re not set at RB, but the washed up carcass of the player formerly known as LT is not a good option

by Syler on Mar 11, 2010 2:29 PM EST reply actions

hey hey hey....

I’d take #56 on the team if he wants to sniff some yips and get back in the game.

…Ladanian is “LdT”, around these parts.

Ah, my bad

But as I said, “LdT” is terrible at this point in his career, and I’m bewildered as to why people want him so much.

no thanks

I hear you guys

but, this is why I’d like them to take a flyer on him. He’d probably come cheap and he’d be looking to a) play for his last big contract and b) prove all they naysayers wrong. Listen, like I said, I really do love Bradshaw, I just don’t think he compliments Jacobs very much. I don’t think they fit, for some reason or other.

by maculis on Mar 11, 2010 2:52 PM EST reply actions

AB and Jacobs were both hurt last year. Jacobs had a torn MCL, Bradshaw a ticking timb bomb in each foot…waiting to break at any second.

Tomlinson could be a D-Ward type….but we got D-Ware and A-Brown to do that.

Your idea that LdT will come cheap is basically what makes this irrelevent…he’s not. I doubt that he signs for any less then Thomas Jones’ 2yrs, $5mill, and that’s too much dough for a washed up RB.

He would be a great fit for us!!!

but we wouldnt fit for him, he still thinks he can be a #1 or heavy #2 but he would be a #3 for us, he would probably be the best pass catcher we have………….also he is very good in blitz pickup but he is not going to want to do that at this stage in his career. i dont want him but if he had D Ward mentality, he would be perfect for us but he would be third on the depth chart so we are not perfect for him.

But dont tell em i told you that !!!!!

by Blue Gates on Mar 11, 2010 3:17 PM EST reply actions

I cant believe

Brad Childress says hes going to make sure he tells LT that he would be the 2nd RB, why in the world would that even need to be said!!!! thats like lendale white holding out because he’s unhappy about playing time

But dont tell em i told you that !!!!!

lol

yeah I pushed it a bit with the 1st rounder, but crazy things like that happen all the time (Roy Williams for a 1+3+6 and Richard Seymore bringing back a 1)

Let's see what Michael G. Scott has to say about this:

Any relation to George C. Scott?

ill personally pass.. i think jacobs and bradshaw will be much better this year.

jacobs needs to stop trying these moves to get aound players… just run through them dude

LET'S GO RANGERS!!!

At this point in their careers

I will take AB over LdT any day of the week. AB has something that LdT lost a few years ago and that’s heart. AB played on two bad feet and was still productive while LdT is the greatest magician come playoff time…he always pulls a disappearing act. AB played hurt for most of the year, LdT won’t play through a hang nail.

by njgiant on Mar 12, 2010 10:02 AM EST reply actions

No. LT wants to be a starter wherever he goes.

We already have at least one or two starters. He wouldn’t be happy.

We didn't even have a chance for the "perfect season", but we did have the perfect ending.

by GAgiantfan on Mar 12, 2010 12:01 PM EST reply actions

No

He’s as injury prone as Jacobs and on the backside of his career.
