"The outsiders don't matter at this point." Huh?

Over the past year Antel Rolle has been one of the New York Giants most vocal players; both on the field and off of it. He has called out his fellow players when he thought that it was necessary to do. He has also made comments about the coaching staff and their way they carry out their duties. But now this, and I agree that  It may be that I am reading a little too much into this statement and seeing something that is not there; but I was taken back by this question and answer during an Antrel Rolle interview:

Q: How do you feel about a coaching change if you don't make the playoffs? A lot of people have been writing about that:

A: That's not something I think that I really respond to. The outsiders don't matter at this point. They can say whatever they want to say. It's all about this organization and what happens here. If we go out and perform on the field, none of those questions will be brought up and that's the way I look at it. We have to do a better job of going down on the field and performing.

Many of us at BBV have been writing about our dissatisfaction with the way that this team has been performing for the past several weeks. Many of us have voiced our opinion with regard to whether Coughlin should stay or go. With that said, I can not help but infer that the portion of Antrel's statements that I highlighted may very well have included NYG fans as well.

Can we, as fans, be considered as outsiders? Fans who have had their hearts ripped out in the most horrid fashion imaginable by this team time and time again; this season and others?  Fans who have witnessed yet another late season collapse by this team in the most embarrassing fashion? Fans who have watched this team make bone-headed mistake after bone-headed mistake raking up countless numbers of avoidable penalties? Fans who have watch this team lose to teams that they should have beaten? Do you really think that Rolle was talking about us? I do.
