The giants year truly hangs in the balance today so to take my mind of it I am going to do a year in review.
The way last year ended with humiliation at the hands of the Panthers and the Vikings , John Mara got it right when when he said it felt more like a 2-14 season.
But out of every failed season is born the hope that the next season will be better. The anticipation for how the draft would go,Coaching changes that would take place , free agents that would be brought in.
I think its fair to say drafting to 2 D-linemen with our first 2 picks might have surprised a few people.
Our 3rd pick was for a safety who suffered a horrendous accident off the field and never made it to the field.
2nd year players such as Clint Sintim and Ramses Bardem were expected to make big strides, that did not happen.
Free agent pickups Deon Grant and Antrelle Rolle were a massive upgrade from what we had last year and Kenny Phillips has played as well as one can expect after a very serious injury last year.
Steve Smith saw his numbers decline with a lot throws going to Nicks and , but every Giant fan knows the importance of that man.
The giants themselves have put out a mixed bag..Just when you begin to write them off they put up some solid Mannighamperformances and just when you get ready to annoint them as the best thing since sliced bread , they lay an egg.
This team has overcome adversity of having a banged up O-line , top 2 WR's out for extended periods and losing a very very importnt defender in Kiwi.
This Teamhas been the absolute antithesis of a Tom Coughlin team with batted balls that end up as interceptions and inexplicable fumbles without the player being touched. Whether you are an Eli fan or not you have to admit that turnovers were a tad high(my entry for the understatement of the year).
Despite the absolute rubbish we saw last week, I think this team can make a deep playoff run. Since this team can beat you with its passing attack, its running attack or its defence. Not so confident about our Special Teams.
