Let me preface this comment with the fact that I am indeed a huge, bleeding heart Giants fan. But the absolute reality is that the Eagles are flat out better (And don't give me historical nonsense about championships, I'm talking about the here and now of it). From the ownership, management, coaching (by far), and players. The Eagles have drafted better, signed better free agents, and always seem to get rid of players that don't produce (while we seem to pick those up). It's obvious we cannot beat them (6 straight?), and they have bounced us out of the playoffs twice already under Coughlin. And if by some miracle the Giants have enough left in the tank to actually make the playoffs (which I don't think will happen), they'll just get bounced out by the Eagles again. As much as they'd like to say publicly with all that bravado that "we'll see them again", nonsense, does anyone out there believe them? Or think they can actually beat them?
And to respond to John Mara's comment concerning the Bill Cowher rumors in which he claims they are "ridiculous", and "Is that where we're at?". The answer is Mr. Mara, yes, that is exactly where we are at. And "ridiculous"? Do you know what's ridiculous sir? 28 points in less than 8 minutes, that's ridiculous. It's time the organization realizes they have an inferior coaching staff, and management, though better than most in the league, that's simply not important. If you're not the best in your division, come on, now, you're just kidding yourselves. Last year Sheridan was the patsy. Who will it be this year?
And to all those who will say, "well, what about 2007?". Well, to that I will say this. There is one man, who in my opinion was most responsible for that incredible run, and that was Steve Spagnoulo, who oh by the way, came from the Eagles organization.
