Giant nation must gain proper perspective inspite of horrific loss

I couldn't believe it. My wife and I are watching, as Desean Jackson makes one cut and I immediately begin praying for a flag because at that point any savvy football fan knows that he's gone.In the top right of the screen there is no yellow flag sign flashing. The wife looks at me and says, " That's it, what happened?".

What a tough loss. Ed did a great job with pointing out the 6 errors that cost the G Men the game. From missed tackles, blown assignments, lack of gap control, Coughlin's special teams blunders (no hands team, the punt heard round the world), the missed 3rd down conversion, all of these things seemed to contribute to the 4th quarter (7 minute) collapse. I laughed because it almost seemed like it was some type of movie that I was watching rather than a football game. Yet this is reality, this is all over sportscenter, talk radio shows, and the internet. How do they respond as a football team and how do we as fans maintain our faith in our football team? Here are some things to keep us optomistic about the remainder of our season

1- Well, for more than 3 quarters we dominated the #1 offense in the NFL. If that was any other QB in the league we win that game. The facts are the facts, we loss, but if the Giants' defense can continue to play at that level consistently (without the break downs of course) no team in the league will be able to move the ball against us.

2- Thank God this wasn't a playoff game (2003 39-38 vs 49ers UGH!)

3- We've kind of been down this road before (2007 wk 15 loss to redskins embarassing, had to beat the Bills the following week to clinch)

4- We were swept by the Cowboys in 2007. However, the divisional playoff game was a different story : )

5- Everybody knows, including the Eagles, that if we see them again in the playoffs they're going to lose!!!

6- Painful experiences breeds superior motivation.

7- We're playing good football at the right time.

8- Thank God that game was not for a playoff spot and just for the division title. We still have a chance at the playoffs. Last year we didn't even make the playoffs.

9- The Giants are one of the most scrutinized teams in the league and the leadership has been thru a ton and has bounced back. Anybody have doubts about a strong peformance against the Packers on Sunday? I don't.

10- We have Coughlin- Coughlin is steadfast about how he leads and sincere about his team. I love Coughlin, us fans get frustrated about some silly things. Thank goodness we are not one of those teams who have no clue who there QB is going to be. Who there coach is going to be. Coughlin brings stability to the franchise. He gives us the best chance to win now. He gets his players to believe in TEAM. Because of that belief the Giants have some of the most talented players on defense in the NFL. Our backup running back has over 1,000 yards rushing and our O line was down to our 3rd left tackle while we ran for about 200 yards a game for 3 games. That's mind boggiling in today's NFL.

Remember, lets keep proper perspective.Last year we had a terrible D coordinator. Mediocre teams were dropping 40 burgers on our D left and right, and of course we were home for the playoffs. The loss on Sunday was awful, but its one loss. Yeah, we had a chance for a first round bye and a home playoff game. In 2008 we got the home playoff game and the bye. Next thing you know McNabb is on our sideline answering our phone. As long as we get in, we have a shot at Dallas. Maybe on the way we get another shot at Philly. And a shot is all that we can ask for. We forget about this game if we make noise in the playoffs. 12/19/10 becomes a springboard to a championship if we make it to Dallas.
