New York Giants Notes: Afternoon Reading Material
Nothing deep this afternoon. I can't handle that yet, but a few things for you to read.
- Eli Manning apparently addressed the team alone this morning, something he has never done before.
- Antrel Rolle says the Giants are making the playoffs.
- Tom Coughlin reflects on the loss, tries to begin moving forward.
- Looks like Rhett Bomar is about to sign with the quarterback-depleted Minnesota Vikings. Bye, bye, Rhett.

Hang in there, Ed!
We’ll get through this…

This is why it's sad Rolle gets a bad rap
Q: Are you confused about how you can play so well for 52 minutes but so poorly for eight?
A: No, I’m not confused. We saw it on film. Some things just happen. We’re a better defense than that, and I put the blame entirely on defense. I don’t put it on Dodge and I don’t put it on anyone else. I damn sure don’t put it on the coaches. They don’t go out there and play the game for us, they don’t. At the same time, we’re a defense who takes pride on if we’re up and our offense gives us 31 points – you can’t ask for anything better than that. If we’re up, and if they score, they’re going to win. That’s the way we look at it.
ATTN BBV: The Giants will not make the playoffs this year. In light of this fact I will now be cheering for the Eagles for the remainder of this season. Please join me. It’s a much better scenario than jut waitning for next year. Go Vick!
I love Rolle
He was a great signing. He admits his mistakes and plays with confidence. Stand up guy.
I love Rolle too
he referred to Dodge as “Ray Finkle”. That’s frickin awesome!
FInkle … Einhorn….
Einhorn….Finkle
He's got great ears too..
They line perfectly up to the helmet earholes..He has to probably break the suction grip to get his helmet off..

Agreed. I can’t watch ESPN or NFL Network until the Giants win again. Too awful.
Glad to see Eli take command.

I like what I'm seeing and hearing from these guys
hopefully in translates into a good week of practice and a W next week.
I’m still sick though from this loss.

Not Bomar!
No!!! I loved Bomar… not as a player mind you, but as a meme. I always joked with my friends about the game of Madden where Eli went down, and Bomar came in to finish the game with excellence. We joked that Bomar would start a miracle playoff run, and when he hoisted the Lombardi over his head he’d say: “Bomar play football! Bomar win Super Bowl!”
Ah… I’m going to miss Bomar.

Let it be known,
for the sake of every position we need filled:
Bomar’s still a G man in my book
Uh hello, planes? It's blimps. You win.
As much as we have made Bomar our resident 'Kilroy Hero'..I saw it coming..
I actually like the way that kid plays football..and I’d be willing to bet the Vikings found themselves their future QB..and at a bargain basement price…I wish him the best..
"When I was a boy and I had no sense..I got my pecker caught in an electric fence..Well it curled my hair, tickled my balls and made me shit in my overalls..."
I was lucky....
I was at my kid’s swim meet and didn’t see the game. I recorded it on my DVR and erased it once I heard about how much of a debacle it was. I don’t want to know what happened. As far as I am concerned-it didn’t.
Bottom line-the G-men are 9-5 and will probably wind up 10-6 or 11-5 (I thought 7-9 when Nicks went down) and in the wild card. That’s not a bad year for a team that lost most of it’s WRs and most of it’s OL for a good part of the year.
Yes the Eagle will probably wind up in first if their injuries on D don’t cripple them (Graham, Bradley, Allen, etc…) but Vick is playing on another level just like Fitzgerald did for Arizona a few years back.
The Eagles didn’t quit when they were down by 3 TDs and the G-men won’t quit now. Let’s see if Philly can beat us three times in 1 year despite us dominating them both times (I still think JPP jumping offside cost us the first game). The G-men were one average play away from winning both games.
It’s easy for me to say, but let’s not get too low when we lose or too high when we win.
Justin Tuck is on Mike Francesca right now.
He sounds like he is still devastated. I feel for this team man; makes me regret yelling at them a little.
I don’t want the Giants to play with a chip on their shoulder the rest of the season. I want them to play with a building on their shoulder. I don’t want a monkey on their back. I want an 800 pound gorilla on their back, digging them with spurs and beating them with a whip.
I don’t want them happy when they score a touchdown. I want them mad that a touchdown is only worth 6 points, and not 12 or 20. I don’t want them happy they deflected a pass. I want them mad that they didn’t pick it off. I don’t want them happy that they made a tackle. I want them mad that they didn’t strip the ball. I don’t want them happy that they got a first down. I want them mad that they didn’t take it to the house. I don’t want them happy that they broke out a big play. I want them mad that the field is only 100 yards long and they couldn’t go any further. I don’t want them happy with a win. I want them mad that the game is only 60 minutes long.
This team needs FIGHT. They are too willing to shift into neutral and just cruise.

As I posted elsewhere, if my memory is right....
The Giants lost the two regular season meetings to the Eagles in 1982 and then knocked them out of the playoffs in 1982, in the last game Vermeil coached them. It’s time to meet and beat them in game three!
I was thinking more 2007
got swept by the cowboys than beat them when it mattered.
Little would make me happier than seeing DeSean end up similar to this

Another good example...
I’ll let’em have the two regular season games if we can win the one that matters.
This loss hurt so bad that I got a call from one of our veteran BBV-ers...Blue_Gonz..
I got the message too late to call him back, but we had a great conversation..His message was brief: “Bobbie, it’s Blue Gonz..worst loss ever”..So I called him back this morning and we spoke for quite a bit..Great guy..He is an encyclopedia on Giants history..I know alot over the past 40 years, but he goes back even farther..We lamented over the game at length, and then basically agreed that we’re used to this..It is not something that hasn’t never happened before and it’s easier to get over with and move forward..I felt privileged to get a call from him..We also had a few reminiscent laughs..He is a very smart man..and he knows the history of the Giants..I can’t wait to meet him in person..he lives right up the road 60 miles North..It tells you something when a long-time fan calls you about something like this ‘thing’ that ocurred yesterday..not exactly the introductory call I was hoping for but it was a fun conversation..and as a long-time fan, I am not giving up an inch of hope..We are still in the chase..He laughed when I told him I got banned for a night due to the responses I fed the trolls..and said he wasn’t surprised after reading my comments..He asked me how you get banned, and I said I guess you just have to write stuff like I do on occasion!haha..Anyway, both of us agreed that all is not lost..We’ve seen this happen before..and with the talent we have, the story may very well have a happy ending..We never had the luxury of talent to bank on..that we do now..When Blue_Gonz posts something, I listen..
"When I was a boy and I had no sense..I got my pecker caught in an electric fence..Well it curled my hair, tickled my balls and made me shit in my overalls..."
Blue Gonz and I have had our moments but I can tell that he A knowledgeable guy and a loyal Giants fan.

Blue Gonz...totally agree with you bobbi when he posts, I always read it with wider eyes.
Interesting that the day Eli Manning addresses the team, is the same day you get a call from Blue Gonz.
It’s almost as if our quiet “leaders” are trying to make sure we keep our eye on the prize, which is the playoffs.
Our goal this season was to win the Super Bowl, not beat the Eagles. A win next week and we are in the playoffs, can’t complain about that.

Blue actually called me right after the game, but it was too late to call back..until this morning..
I was a little annoyed or perhaps relieved that I got banned overnight..ah but what the hell I went upstairs and put the game on..but yeah it was nice talking to him..Funny thing, he mentioned actually we were talking about how many G-Fans are here in Florida..He mentioned Jim S…I told him “Oh he moved to Arizona..Everybody I try to hook up with moves”..He laughed and said “Yeah, out of the state”..lol!!!
"When I was a boy and I had no sense..I got my pecker caught in an electric fence..Well it curled my hair, tickled my balls and made me shit in my overalls..."
The Giants have won the third meeting of the season with the Eagles before....
If memory serves me right, they lost the two regular season games, but knocked Philly out of the playoffs in 1982, the last game Dick Vermeil coached for them. We need to do it again!!!
Actually, I believe it was in the Wildcard Playoff game of 1981...
not 1982. Hard trying to remember things by where I was and what I was doing when the game was played and then trying to figure out what year it was.
I was at that game!!!
The Eagles fumbled 2 kickoffs that we recovered; one for a TD, The year before they had gone to the SB, and were expecting no less. when we beat them, the Eagle fans in our section began tearing apart the seats and throwing them at everyone! Classy to the end!!!!
Was it the F-Bomb that you hit some troll with
that got you banned!! LOL I saw that and said to myself Bobi will not be on BBV for a few days. I got my first warning this weekend too. Tough tough weekend. Lets home these guys galvinize around each other and win out instead of going into the tank if not it will be a longer off season than last year.
Haha!!..Yeah probably Land..Hell I was so pissed at them trinkling in to feed us beans..
I got shot down..but not without a few choice return shots..Funny, I know when it is coming..I can’t help myself from pressing the post button…then it’s “Your not allowed to post comments”..I’m like hmmm..that’s a bummer…

Every team has these moments
It’s the crucial that either causes a team to be reformed as a winner more determined than ever or they totally wither and die.
I’m hoping it propels them and the coaches to a more hardened aggressive take no prisoners Giants.
If not, then we will know by seasons end that changes have to be made.
rolle
rolle is a good player. they stopped blitzing him and tried the great aaaron ross and others. they tried to outsmart the eagles. rolle is a good not great player but a real good blitzer.
the d coordinator tried to have a masterpiece instead of just a win.
this was a collective implosion.. coughlin no hands team, ferrel having tuck in coverage etc. the offense going to sleep, dodge being doge and the onside kick.

this is by far not the worst loss
the worst loss is still the san francisco meltdown. it was over after that. it is far from over now. if anything, this reminds me more of the loss against the vikings in 07. i remember saying to my friend then, they are not even good at being mediocre. well this team is not mediocre. they have a vicious self destruct button that has not YET killed them. if they get in to the playoffs, they are going to beat philly and go to the show….
you heard it here first.. i think.
Actually, i'm over it.
We lost to the Eagles … not entirely unexpected. The guys showed their lack of nuts and brains … not for the first time. We are very unlikely to win the Division now …the sun will still rise in the sky tomorrow (probably). We get to trash the Packers at the weekend … Yeh, that’s what i’m talkin about. Let’s get to the playoffs and play the Eagles again … that would be sweet. Go Giants.
I'm very important. I have many leather-bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany.
i meant giants will be #6
how can eagles be #2 if they have identical record as bears and lost heads up? the packers are outside looking in

whatever. as i mentioned. the outcome of this season will be very binary. either deep run or no playoffs.

"When I was a boy and I had no sense..I got my pecker caught in an electric fence..Well it curled my hair, tickled my balls and made me shit in my overalls..."
After the game I'll admit I was PISSED....
but in that “I wanna play these douchebags again” way. Twice the Giants handed the game to Philly, Philly didn’t win it. The Giants defense can harass Vick into mistakes and we can pressure him like nobody else. All I kept saying to myself was “I wanna play them a 3rd time like we did Dallas.” With the 6th seed I have no worries about facing the Bears as they can’t score on us. And Atlanta?? No defense and an overrated offense. After we beat GB and get in and then knock Grossman out, we will go into the playoffs with confidence like we did when we won the Superbowl.
Sorry about Bomar
Vikes must like him, 5th QB on roster.
This is the NFL you should be able to cover punts. Everyone blames Dodge not Quinn. This is his third year and STs have gotten rapidly worse since he replaced Sweatman. Yes a 40 year old 35 yard out of bounds punter is needed with him as coach.
Tom and Eli
There’s a great article on Yahoo this morning about Coughlin handling the loss. Talks about how Eli wanted to address the team before the coach did, and how they’re dealing with moving on. It also talks about how the Giants always do things the hard way. I’ve always felt that way, but thought it was more because I was a fan than actual reality. It’s good to see it from a non-biased source.
Should be another great game in the tundra!
