After watching Monday Night Football I'm officially sick of the Rivers lovefest. A lot of people seem to think Rivers is a much better QB than Eli but I don't buy it. Rivers took over as the starter in 2006 and has put up gaudy regular season numbers. However, he plays in the AFC West and the combined records of his division opponents from 2006 through the end of last season was 67-125. The record of the Giants division opponents in that same span 106-85-1. Big difference huh? I think it's fair to say Eli's stats would benefit and Rivers stats would decline had they played their careers in the other's division. Let's compare them against equivalent levels of competition: THE PLAYOFFS. Fortunately we have a seven game sample for each.
Rivers(3 wins,4 losses) 8TD 9INT, 58.5% Completions, 0 Rings
Eli(4 wins, 3 losses) 8TD 7INT, 58.5% Completions, 1 Ring
Pretty similar stats except Eli has a ring and 2 fewer INTs. As far as I'm concerned Rivers can keep racking up stats in a horrible division and losing in the playoffs, I'll keep Eli(and his bonehead plays) and savor the championship he gave us
