POTW Bye-Week Edition: Where They Were. vs Where They Are. & Where Will They Be?

Our Giants drew no opponent this past Sunday.Thus, they enjoyed a well deserved day off considering their performance over the past 4 weeks. Since the bye week left me with some extra time on my hands fan-post publishing wise, I thought that I would use that time to construct this fan-post for the purpose of taking a closer look at top BBV Player of The Week Winners. For the sake of time and time and space I decided to focus on offensive players in this post. Defensive players will be covered later in the season.The question that this post was designed to entertain will be found at the end of this post. It was necessary to place it there because of the need to review the following information in order to answer it. Alright, lets get to it:

NEW YORK GIANTS ALL-TIME LEADING RUSHER

TIKI BARBER RB/OFFENSE

Tiki Barber joined the NY Giants in 1997. It is said that he wasn't the most coveted running back at the time because of his hieght and size. Nevertheless, he was drafted by the Giants in the 2nd round of the 1997 NFL Draft. After two initial sub-par seasons, he established himself as a premier back. He finished his career with a franchise best 10,449 yards and 55 TDs. 5,266 of these yards are rushing yards while the remaining 5,183 are reception yards.

Where Was He Then?

In his 4th year, Tiki Barber carried the ball a total of 213 times and accumulated a season rushing total of 1,006 yards. He complimented his production in rushing by amassing a season total of 719 receiving yards which was the product of 70 receptions. His rushing and receiving totals resulted in a combined season total of 1,725 yards and 1 TDs.

AHMAD BRADSHAW RB/OFFENSE

Ahmad joined the NY Giants in 2007. He began his career with the Giants as a kick returner; just as Tiki did. He was later placed with the NY Giant RB corp and has fired off a consistent number of strong performances. The fact that he is now the NY Giant starting RB only serves to reinforce this fact. Ahmad currently sits at # 26 on the franchise's all-time leading rusher's list with a career total of 2031 rushing yards and 12 TDs.

Where Is He Now?

Ahmad Bradshaw is presently in his 4th year. With seven games already in the books for the 2010 season, he has a season total of 134 carries, 708 yards and 14 TDs.

NEW YORK GIANTS ALL-TIME LEADING RECEIVER

AMANI TOOMER WR/OFFENSE

Amani Toomer joined the NY Giants in 1996 and 13 years later, he left the NY Giant franchise as it's all-time leading receiver (guess whose is ranked at # 2). During his tenure, he amassed a career total of 9,497 receiving yards which is the product of 668 receptions. He scored a total of 54 TDs and committed 6 fumbles through his entire career, which is quite an impressive feat. Toomer also contributed to bringing a Superbowl Championship to New York.

Where Was He Then?

Amani Toomer wasn't even catching the ball in his 2nd year. At least not as a receiver. He was mostly used for return duties and only amassed a total of 263 yards for the season as a result of 16 receptions. He scored 1 TD and was relatively quiet in 1998 before having a 1,183 yard breakout season in 1999 his 4th season.

HAKEEM NICKS WR/OFFENSE

Hakeem Nicks is currently ranked at # 46 on the Giants' all-time leading receiver list. During his 21 game tenure with the NY Giants, his has accumulated a career total of 1,315 yards and 14 TDs as a result of the 92 receptions that he has snagged from the clutches of destiny. He has 2 fumbles at this point in his career.

Where Is He Now?

Hakeem Nicks is currently in his 2nd year. With seven games already in the books for the 2010 season, he has a season total of 45 receptions, 525 Yards and 8 TDs.

NEW YORK GIANTS ALL-TIME LEADING PASSER

PHIL SIMMS QB/OFFENSE

Phil Simms joined the NY Giants in 1979. He now holds the top NY Giant passing crown. During his reign, which spanned over a decade, he amassed a career total of 33,462 passing yards which is the product of 4,647 attempts and 2,576 completions. He finished his illustrious career with 199 TDs, 157 interceptions, two Superbowl Championships and a career record of 95-64-0.

Where Was He Then?

Phil Simm's 6th season in the NFL yielded a season total 3,829 passing yards for the year. It only took him 495 attempts and 275 completions to achieve this mark. He also had 22 TDs.

ELI MANNING QB/OFFENSE

Eli Manning joined the New York Giants in 2004 and is currently in his 6th year. Since then, his 3022 attempts and 1750 completions have given berth to a career total of 20, 429 passing yards. At this point in his career, he has 139 TDs and 99 interceptions. His career record as of today is 50-37-0.

Where Is He Now?

With seven games in the books for the 2010 season Eli has a season total of 239 attempts, 157 completions, 1785 Yards and 14 TDs. He currently sits at # 2 on the NY Giant All time leading passer list.
