Eagles Fan For a Day.

This Sunday at 4:15 the 6-2 New York Giants will take on the 1-7 Dallas Cowboys. I'm very excited for this game, as bleedblue12 and myself will be in attendance. The Cowboys will bring with them their new Head Coach, and with him a new set of questions. Will the team's offense behind John Kitna be more creative now that the former OC is calling the shots? Will the defense respond with emotional play on the field that they had yet to show this season under Wade Phillip's guidance? Everyone knows that this team has talent, and could be dangerous if given some life. The Giants will have to continue their recent string of good football with an excellent balanced offensive attack, and dominating defense to come out with a victory.

It is a Division game, it is an important game, and one the Giants absolutely need win if they are going to continue to be taken seriously as a Super Bowl contender.

With all of that being said, there is another Division game going on Monday night between the Redskins, and the Eagles that I will be keeping my eye on. On most occasions, I would love nothing more than to see the "inferior" team (this week the Redskins) beat the snot out of the "superior" team (this week the Eagles). However, given the recent chatter about the Giants lack of quality opponents my hope is that you will join me, in being an Eagles fan for a day.

It seems as though this is becoming a recurring theme in recent years for the New York Giants. Last year they started 5-0, appearing to be the cream of the NFL crop. Those who looked at the Giants early season schedule however, were not convinced. The Giants simply beat the teams they were supposed to beat. I guess I shouldn't be surprised when this year, after winning what I thought to be some tough games (the last undefeated team in the NFL, the 3-1 Texans on the road, and at Seattle where the Seahawks had yet to lose) the masses are again not convinced. Instead of continuing to plead the case that all teams are quality opponents (as evident by the Browns destruction of the Saints, and Patriots in recent weeks) I will simply say "I understand".

I understand when the Giants played these teams they were something more than they are now. Perhaps it is due to the complete, and undeniable shallacking the Giants gave them, perhaps not. Either way, it is clear that they do not seem to have the same "perception of toughness" they had before their will was broken at the hands of the Giants.

I will no longer hold onto the belief that the Giants have defeated good teams. I will no longer consider the Texans, and Bears "quality opponents". Instead, I will ask the Philadelphia Eagles to do me a favor:

Win against the Redskins Monday night, and win BIG.

The masses seem to think barely squeaking by a shell of the Indianapolis Colts team that the Giants saw Week 2, is a quality victory, and warrants discussion for being one of the best teams in the NFC. I'm fine with that. In fact, my hope is that the Falcons recent victory over the Ravens, will give the Eagles even more ground to stand on in that regard, since they hold a victory over them as well.

When the Eagles play the Redskins on Monday night, I hope to the high heavens they do not come out flat like they did last time, and that Michael Vick makes it through the game standing up. In my fantasy world Vick will throw for 400 yards, with no INTs, and have 100 rushing yards. DeSean looks good, Maclin looks good, and McCoy looks good. Ideally they get after the quarterback on defense, create turnovers, and quite simply dominate both sides of the ball.

You may be asking yourself, why the insanity Tito!? How could you ever, as a Giants fans, wish upon the Eagles such great riches!?

Because I know when this New York Giants team plays turnover free, mentally sound, and consistent football they are the best in the league. There is simply not a more well rounded team in all of the NFL, but because the Giants haven't yet beat a team worthy of being considered "Top Tier" I'm supposed to withold judgement. I'm supposed to think twice about their ability to win against the toughest competition.

I think I can speak for a majority of fans when I say that I'm sick of hearing this garbage. So what I'm asking from the Eagles, is please. Pretty please with sugar on top. Beat the ever living bejesus out of the Redskins. If Philadelphia does this than we can finally see our "quality opponent". But if they lose to the Redskins again, and the Giants play the type of football we have seen over the last 5 weeks by handing the Eagles a LONG over-due ass-whoopin, Philadelphia will be 5-5, and just another "non-quality opponent" added to the list of teams that the Giants were lucky to play.

Philadelphia Eagles on Monday night, if you would be so kind, don't lay an egg.

I'll be cheering you on.
