Who do you prefer to play against Stafford or Hill?
Hello to the BBV crew
I couldn't help but notice this article on Pride of Detroit stating that Lions coach Jim Schwartz has not ruled out Matthew Stafford to play against the Giants this week to replace his back up Shaun Hill. After reading I was somewhat excited if this was the case as Hill has been putting up big numbers these past few weeks, so I began to feel that I would be more comfortable about the Giants winning with Stafford starting. What do you guys think, Who would you prefer start to benefit the Giants chances of winning?

Hill's the best backup in the league.
Stafford’s probably rusty and still not 100%.
Either way, a QB wearing powder blue’s gonna get messed up next weekend.
You mean honolulu blue? Powder blue was the old color from the 90's and prior.

Honestly, a healthy Stafford throughout the first 5 games would've resulted in a 3-2 or 4-1 record.
He’s got so much potential as our starting quarterback, despite the injury issues, he’s got the arm to throw 60+ yards on his back foot. There’s a reason the Madden games have him as the guy with the most throwing power, he has a lot of it. Hill is a good back-up though, so don’t expect the Lions offense to be stagnant, but I anticipate a close game with a Giants win at the end.

But as a Lions fan
don’t you feel that seeing as Stafford is the franchise’s future that throwing him back out prematurely to a ravenous Giants D-Line isn’t the wisest of moves health or not. Also love the madden reference ;)

I'm not anticipating Stafford until week 8 against the Redskins.
But yeah, I see your point. That Giants defense just looks plain nasty, I’m hoping Hill doesn’t get treated the same way Jay Cutler did.

I doubt Stafford would be up to 100% for the game. Even tho it seems to me he’d be the best shot at winning I have strong reservations to subjecting him to this “ravenous Giants D” his first week back. God forbid y’all bend him like a Cutler rag doll that could really set him back. Besides, Hill is on a roll so it’s best to just give Stafford another couple weeks to make sure he’s ready to rock the last half of the season.
They say some people never go crazy.... what a boring life that must be!!
I don't think
you can just say that. There’s nothing tangible to believe stafford could have done any better than Hill has. I’m not saying he’ll never be really good, but saying they’ll have a 3-2 or 4-1 record is pretty ridiculous.

Not really WillgFass. The games we lost were at the end on offenseive possesions and Hill just couldn't get it done.
If Stafford played, he would’ve totally changed the way the defense played us. You can’t underestimate the importance of a starting quarterback in this league. How many games would you expect the Giants to win without Eli Manning playing?

Eli > Stafford
The point is different because for as talented as Stafford is he hasn’t proved he can go out and win games yet.
Shaun Hill is Shaun Hill, you know what you’ll get with him. Stafford’s future is still unknown.

I think we beat either QB.
I have a great deal of respect for Stafford though, once he gets an O-line that is’t gonna get him killed, I think he is going to be one of the better QB’s in the league. The kid has a desire to win. I forget who they were playing last year but Stafford could barely even stand and still threw a last second game winning TD. I think the city of Detroit developed a nasty man-crush on thier QB that day.
No matter what happens, at the end of the day, I will always bleed Giants Blue.
I wasn't just talking about this season, over the last two years he has been hit a good amount.
The game I was thinking about last season was against the Browns. Stafford showed that he was a winner that game. He got destroyed the play before the game winning TD. I think he has a bright future in front of him.

Cleveland Browns. Lions win 37-36
That game was the defining moment of the kind of franchise quarterback Matthew Stafford could turn into. He got hurt, came back in and threw his 5th touchdown pass for the win and had over 420 yards. He owns the NFL record for the youngest starting quarterback to throw for 5 TDs and over 400 yards in a single game. He is only 22 years old but he is probably the smartest quarterback we’ve had since…I really can’t think of the last time I thought that. His football i.q is extremely high, which is part of the reason he was drafted #1 overall in 2009. He is football smart and has a powerful arm and is a great leader. I’m excited for the kind of quarterback he could be once he get’s back and stays healthy. This year the Lions actually have weapons to use besides Calvin Johnson so it will be fun to watch this year.

I don't really care.
This isn’t Vick vs. Klob. Stafford’s got the elite passing qualities but he takes too many big hits…if I were the Lions I wouldn’t bring him back too early, the Giants destroyed 3 QBs this season already. Even if he was healthy its not like he’s Matt Schaub or even at that point Jay Cutler
Hill’s a solid backup, but he’s a backup for a reason. And of course, the Giants aren’t the Rams.

ok but will it taze you if say Hill jacks up 350+ yards on us
for 3+ TD’s and spoils our winning streak??

I said Stafford
But only because I think coming off his injury he might be below par. Theres no doubt in my mind that Stafford is the better QB in Detroit though, so if he wasnt coming back from injury I’d prefer to play Hill.

I'd rather see Stafford
He is superior to Hill but he’s GOT to be rusty whereas Hill is really groovin’.
Yet I think the Lions need to get him back in because he is the future. If I was the Lions I’d also consider not pushing him this particular week because the Giants D-Line is known to concuss a motherf$%^&*
You play to win the game!
Another dumb game...
If we (or the Giants) are really afraid of facing the best competition, then what the hell are we playing for? If we have any kind of Super Bowl aspirations we should be confident that we can beat the best everyone else has to offer. We shouldn’t be running from good competition if we think we are any good. And if we can’t beat the best, we shouldn’t be the best. We have no business winning the Super Bowl.
...
Facing good competition is a way to test yourself, measure where the team stands and where it needs to go. Ultimately it is best for the team’s success to face the hardest competition possible.
