WR's continue to get snubbed

Percy Harvin wins the ROTY award of which he is deserving. However, the other WR's on the list, Jeremy Maclin, Mike Wallace had inferior numbers to Nicks. Here are the splits..

Maclin          55 Rec    762yds      58.6/game     4 TDs

Wallace       39 Rec    756yds      47.3/game     6 TDs

Nicks           47 Rec    790yds      56.4/game      6 TDs (plus the 4 game streak of TD's scored)

Not even an honorable mention? What do you guys think? Fair or not?

lol...

well at least Nicks gets respect on BBV…

but no..not fair at all.

Probably worse then Steve Smith getting snubbed for the Pro Bowl..cuz IMO there are only 2 of these guys on this list that deserve a vote over Nicks, and that’s Harvin and Maclin.

I enjoyed the deep ball to Maclin on Sunday

where he wasn’t even looking for the ball and was looking at the safety the whole time.

Mike Wallace...

It’s all the media’s obsession with Pittsburgh.

I’ll admit, Wallace did catch fire at the end, and made an amazing play.
And for Maclin, he doesn’t deserve a vote in my opinion. He’s getting it based on Jackson being a stud and was a rookie last year, therefore everyone’s thinking Maclin’s just as studly as Jackson.

Never assume skill at bouncing a ball makes you smarter than the guy who built the court.

Trying to be as unbiased as possible here..

but most of Nick’s TD’s were big plays and althought I feel he’s better than Wallace, I think Maclins done a little bit better even though he’s got 2 less TD’s..

Also you have to take into account that Maclins missed like 2 games due to injuries and has to deal with Desean playing opposite of him, that takes away from the looks he gets and to be honest Nicks really didnt have that much trouble when your WR core wasnt that good this year.

You make a good point...

In that Maclin played with injuries and had to deal with Desean playing opposite him, but that assessment applies more so with Nicks:

Many people don’t give the Giants’ WR corp much credit, but they quietly had a strong year. They were just overshadowed by the big play flashiness of the Philly offensive attack, and Dallas’ offense, because the media likes to suck up to them for some reason.

Nicks actually played in one less game than Maclin and played with a knee injury for some of the season as well. Along with that, while Maclin had Desean take catches away from him check this out:

Desean jackson had 63 catches. Steve Smith of the giants? 107. Add to this Maclin had 55 catches, as opposed to 47…just 7 less and he played one game less…so its not like Nicks was just used for the deep play.

I understand what your saying

but you cannot say that the Giants WR’s are better than the eagles WR’s.. Maclin, Desean, Avant(who is prolly the best slot WR in the league) and Curtis make a good crew, Reggie brown has his moments too but we dont like him..

I dont think you guys got outshined as much as you just didnt have as much to talk about compared to the eagles…

I actually think your WR’s exceeded expectations but they didnt really out do the eagles, if you look the catch totals of our main recievers including celek are about even.

I can

and I will

Avant is not the best slot receiver in the game. That would belong to Wes Welker.

Desean is amazing, I will give you that. Probably, if not the best WR in the NFC East.

But the combination of Smith, Nicks, and Manningham is one I’d take over almost any other teams.

I can respect that...

and Ill admit Welker is the better reciever but if you’ve watched the Pats this year they use him on the outside alot, I wouldnt really consider him a true slot WR. Avant is the definition of at pure Slot WR, also have you seen some of the circus catches that man makes? But either way Id take Avant over Manningham and Nicks.

I like what you said about Desean lol..

The combo of Desean, Maclin and Avant is alot more leathal in my opinion than your trio, although I feel that next year your three will be just fine.

agree...

considering HAM had the season he did..and really, was as bad as he was at times..he’s gonna get better.

Nicks had a better season then Maclin too.

And Avant is NOT the best slot WR in the game….that’s being a homer to say that…

Nicks didnt have Desean opposite of him...

Id take Maclin over everyone but Desean in the NFC east…

but hey you’ve got your opinions and Ive got mine i guess…

That should be against your arguement

Desean gets double teamed a lot more than Steve Smith so that leaves Maclin with 1 on 1s more often than Nicks.

Plus Eli Manning targeted Steve Smith more often than McNabb did DeSean

by mclaren_is_the_best on Jan 9, 2010 6:48 PM EST up reply actions

yeah but it helps my arguement

because then I can say “Desean gets all the looks and Maclins just the checkdown” which is true.. Donavan goes Djax, Celek, Maclin on most plays

Smith got double teamed a whole lot as the year progressed.

..also, Smith caught over 40 more balls then DJAX…meaning, less targets for Nicks.

So…the real argument is…Maclin didn’t have Steve Smith opposite him…catching 107 passes.

And like mclaren says..if DJAX is getting DT’d so much…what’s Maclin’s problem for not catching more balls then Nicks?

Nicks played in less games, and the #1 WR in his offense more then doubled up his catch mark.

You lost……..

steve smith only caught 107 because at the begining of the year he was force

fed the ball.

he had 10 catches in week 17?

He had 34 catches in the first 4 weeks.

29 catches in the final 4 weeks.

His lowest total was against the Raiders…where he only played a half.

…without going any further, yea..fail, basically.

wild_eagle....

that’s pretty damn bias….

Nicks was completely out of 2 games, and in both Washington games and the MIN game..was cut short very early in the game. So he missed about 4 1/2 games.

And like BBtervention mention…how many catches did DJAX have? What about Celek? Avant?

Was it really as much as Steve Smith, Manningham and Boss?

by FreeBradshaw on Jan 7, 2010 10:49 PM EST up reply actions

yeah but look at what Desean, Celek and Avant did...

with the ball in there hands…

Dude

pick an argument angle and stick with it, you are skipping everywhere here. Thus far you have not made one point and followed through, explaining why it is the correct angle on things.
