NFL News: Jim Zorn fired as coach of the Redskins

[UPDATE: The Buffalo Bills have fired their entire coaching staff. ]

Not at all unexpected, the Skins dropped the hammer on Jim Zorn after the Redskins finished 4-12 this season. The Skins were 12-20 under Zorn, but had lost 18 of their last 24 after the Skins started 6-2 in 2008 under him.

In an unrelated story, somewhere in the desert Jim Fassel, who interviewed for the Redskins job a few times, just fell off the couch laughing.

Snyder was the Problem more than Zorn

Snyder hired Zorn as head coach despite a complete lack of qualifications and relevant experience, and he is now being fired because he is unqualified. Too bad – he was a decent quarterbacks coach and might have made a decent offensive coordinator if he had been able to concentrate on it. Now, after two years of embarrassment, he will be lucky to get a job as anything.
We will have to see how Shanahan does in Snyderland. The Skins have a lot of rebuilding to do. Although I am sure he has made Bruce Allen a lot of promises about autonomy, Snyder has the patience of a four year old. Unless the team becomes instantly great, I cannot see him staying out of things; it’s not in his nature.

Thank God

Living in the DC area, I’ve been subject to Mr. Monotone’s press conferences and interviews for two years. Talk about a cure for insomnia.

Seriously, Mickey C is right – the problem with the Skins starts from above. This delusional franchise really believed it had the pieces in place to be a Super Bowl contender, but as has been the case since Danny boy bought the team, their collection of talent is not what they think it is. Everyone in town is rightfully skeptical about Snyder’s vow to stay out of things. My prediction: they’ll still be the doormats of the NFC East for quite some time.

Bills fired all their staff?

Wow…I guess it looks like Cowher’s really gonna be their HC?

Dick Jauron their former HC is probably a good candidate for the Giants DC job.

Or if they don’t want someone like him…their interim HC..Perry Fewel, is also a very good DC and candidate.

I know, 2 former Bills coaches may not be the best idea…tho, these 2 are pretty good at their craft. They didn’t exactly have the Giants’ talent (nor the ‘luck’, the Bills are the most cursed team in the NFL).

Zorn again; Oakland rumor

Matt Bowen has an article in the National Football Post titled “Zorn never stood a chance under Snyder” which goes over much the same ground.
Now – rumors that Cable is out in Oakland.
