Who will replace Chris Palmer?
[UPDATE 5:48 PM EST: forget Zorn. He has been hired by the Baltimore Ravens. ]
Mike Garafolo has posted an interesting list of possible replacements for Chris Palmer as New York Giants quarterbacks coach.
Jim Zorn, anyone?
Palmer, incidentally, is a big loss for the Giants. He has a reputation as one of the best quarterback coaches in the business, and has done terrific work with Eli Manning. He won't be easy to replace.
- One other quick note: The New York Post's Steve Serby loves what he has been hearing about new defensive coordinator Perry Fewell.
I promise to have more for you guys soon. Right now, though, this traveling stuff has me racing all over the place.

Good story Ed
Good work as usual Ed. I have to admit, I am a bit concerned about all of these coaching changes this season. I can’t remember the last time we had an overhaul like this. Three coaches being replaced in one off season, will require some time to gel with the players. I’m confident in the front office but hope things mesh sooner rather then later.

Nice article on Fewell..
I am starting to like this guy already..I think we found a winner here..As for QB coach..I as others lamented over his departure, but I wouldn’t be opposed to Zorn coming in and filling that role..He’s alot smarter than the rap he got from Washington has cost him..I’m not so much worried about the impact on Eli..I’m more concerned about Bomar having the right guy in his ear and I think Zorn would be a good guy for him..I also am not all that concerned about Carr, but he most likely will be somewhere else this year.

According to Chris Kelsay
Fewell won’t tolerate selfishness or thinking of yourself ahead of the team. Can Osi get on board with that?

Something tells me he can fit in with that..
Actually I think Osi was clamouring for that kind of coaching last year..We all jumped on him mouthing off, but I have second thoughts..I just don’t think he liked playing for Sheridan..I think he’ll like playing for Fewell.

You may be right...
and if not, it might be time to see just exactly what Osi would bring in trade. But I think Bobbiblue’s point is valid, it wasn’t a great way to go about things, but in the end Sheridan wasn’t the man for the job, though how fouled the waters became early with the walkout is impossible to know. I also agree with the above on quarterback coach. I wouldn’t want Zorn as a head coach, but I think he’d be competent if he stuck to quarterback coach.

Yes we can only hope that is the case Crank..
That would give us two guys that have some head coach experience..and both guys are probably a little torqued about the way they were let go..Zorn and Fewell in my opinion got raw deals..Fewell actually had Buffalo looking pretty competitive when he took over and only got a ‘token’ interview..Zorn, he was pretty much handcuffed..I think those two guys (we have one) come in with something to prove.

Usually when a team has a token interview they already have a guy in pocket
But somehow I’m thinking Chan Gailey is not what they had in mind.

Yes I couldn't believe they hired Gailey..I mean he did halfway decent in Dallas..
But no way I would have thought they would get that guy after blowing away their entire coaching staff and pledging to bring in a winning formula..That is why they are perennial losers..

Coaching
I’m sure the giants will make the right choice for qb coach. I wouldn’t mind Zorn either. I have been very pleased with the coaches we have aquired so far

In my opinion Zorn's failure in Washington was as much Snyder's fault
as anyone’s. He is becoming the Eastern version of Al Davis.

Zorn shouldn't have even been the HC
He was orignally supposed to be the offensive coordinator and help campbell develop. The HC before him retired, and Zorn was promoted.
It’s amazing he lasted that long with all the responsibilities he had: QB development, calling the offensive plays, trying to make snyder happy, etc.
Never assume skill at bouncing a ball makes you smarter than the guy who built the court.

I agree with all of you guys concerning Zorn..He'd be a great QB coach for us

I would take Zorn in a heart beat
After seeing what he did with J. Campbell, a guy that should have never been a starting NFL QB ..I think he can coach up anyone

Exactly..that Zorn is a very smart man and he can coach if you let him..
I think as I have said he got a really raw deal in Washington and would not mind at all seeing him on our coaching staff. He certainly knows how to play QB and would be a great addition to our team..again mostly for the back-ups..Teaching them..but more than that the input to TC based on his experience would be invaluable. The guy is a winner. I am a little nervous that they haven’t got rid of others, but I’ll tell ya I think the coaching staff needed far more re-vamping than the players require.

Well Eli is developed at this point
And having Peyton and Archie in your corner certainly has sped up his learning process early in his career.
