Vikings 44, Giants 7: What is another word for 'embarrassing?'
All I can say is I am going to try very hard to forget this season, and these last two games, ever happened. Sad that the New York Giants didn't even bother to try in their final game of the season.

Awful Awful Awful
I don’t know where to start . . .I know the effort was not there becuase they had nothing to play for but my god that was bad.
I’m a big TC guy and I’m all for him staying but you have to have some concern about the team not playing hard the last two weeks. Maybe some of that had to do with the D knows BS is not comming back so they just folded.
JR did a nice job in 07 putting the final touches on a SB team and has drafted some good young players but 2010 will be a big year for him to see how he responds to this debacle of this season. We’ll also get to see if he’s the GM we think he is becasue they need a lot of help on D not just a player here or there. They need to improve both players and coaches.
Need a lot of help on D
is an understatement. Canty gets a pass because of his injury. Jury’s out on Boley. Sintim we don’t know about. Goff hasn’t looked good but gets a pass because he needs at least another training camp. DeOssie sticks because he can snap. Tuck, Webster and Thomas have earned the right to stay. Keep Cofield because he’s coming of an injury and didn’t suck as much as others. Based on performance, we could justifiably dump the rest of the D, but that’s not practical. So, do we dump Rouse and CC? Maybe we want to keep them around because they can hit and play special teams. Is Robbins worth keeping as a backup? Do we keep Blackburn because he gives his all and is one of the better STers? How about Kehl? Enough potential to keep? Will Ross ever play a full season? etc., etc., etc. My God, it just goes on and on
Wake up call to roll call?
I don’t know where to park my comment, but Gonz has me on a certain track!
This is probably the best thing to happen this year with the D especially. I’m as diehard as alot of you guys, but this D and its performance is a wake up call. I’ll give some players the benefit of the doubt, but thats where it ends, adios to others with no skills or desire! The participants that are available for roll call…good luck JR! This goes along with BS too.
I honestly don’t know where to start, so as Gonz has started my own sentiments, i’ll wait for the future stories to come forth and i’ll chip in with suggestions.
This is by far the most inept Giants D that i have witnessed ever since following them from the early 80’s. But, you know what? From here on out, it cannot get any worse!
I thought it couldn't get worse then the Saints game..
it did get worse with the 1st Eagles game. Even worse with the Broncos game.
More worse with Carolina.
Now has it hit rock Bottom with this game?
N8 !
+1,000
That SD loss was the end of this Giant team as we know it. They put a lot into that game and the D lost all of their confidence after that game.
They played Giant football that game against a very good team and had the game won in the 4th quarter like so many others over the past couple of years but they could not put it away they just were never the same after that.
Here's what's worse, Hoot--
the O looked totally uninspired as well. Yes, I can offer plausible excuses, but has the ugly thought crossed anyone’s mind that maybe it’s not just the D that’s not playing for BS, but that the infection has spread to the whole team? If that’s the case, and I’m not saying it is (or isn’t), what does that mean for TC?
I think its completely true..
that the infection has spread to the whole team.
This is why my stance on Coughlin has changed a bit…cuz it seems the past 2 weeks..they played completely uninspired ball.

We need someone
who’ll just fire people up. One of the beat writers said that the only people who were trying to be leaders were Manning and Feagles.

getting his nucleus of “locker room guys” in place as Job # 1 every where he went. We are sorely lacking in this area.
and to think you roasted me because I suggested TC was as much to blame (and should go) weeks ago!
Every HC should be held accountable for the players AND coaches effort as well as the result/performance of his team.
What does this season’s debacle say about TC? Not much in my opinion. We can do better.

cuz there wasn't anything like this.
2 games in a row like this did not happen.
It did now.
Even so..I still think I’m just too pissed at this team.
Its probably irrational anyway..cuz there isn’t much of an alternative other then a new name and a likely rebuilding process…which is probably unnecessary.

I have never wanted a season to end as much as this one
This has been the hardest second half of the season to watch that I can remember.
I guess Harry Carson was right last week
all I want is my D back. I cant remember EVER having a defense this bad
2008
If we look back, and this has been spoken of already, but if we look back at the month of December in 2008, we see the 2009 team. The Carolina game last year was much like the
second Redskin game, and second Eagle Game this year (though we lost to the Eagles) in that the Giants rose up and played like most thought they could play, but then settled back into the encroaching rot that’d been enveloping them. We peaked in the Super Bowl, played out on adrenalin and faith and then… came Dec 2008. Plaxico Burres is not the reason the giants sucked in Dec 2008 and were a one and done playoff team after so much good stuff before it. The rot caught up with them. Age. Other teams figuring them out. Lack of further development of certain players. And the front office made, though in good faith, bad moves to fix things, moves that didn’t pan out. It happens. But the leaks sprang a year and change ago folks. They have yet to be plugged. As a fan, all we can do is hope they plug ‘em correctly this time. But also, let the owners know, more crap football, empty stadium. It’s the only way to guarantee competitiveness.
Plax
was a convenient excuse at the time. In reality it was an indication of things to come.
I disagree on a few points
1.) They peaked against Baltimore in 08, they beat the piss out of a very physical tough team in rather easy fashion and were in the middle of a brutal streatch of games in which they won all of them reminding me of the 1990 team with how well they played.
2.) Plax WAS a huge part of why they played poorley late last year. The O went from averageing 30 points per game to one that was barley able to score 20+ points per game right after he wen’t down. Throw in the fact we had to play the Eagles who matched up well againts a Plax less Giants O and that was a recipe for Disaster. I still contend if TB holds on to beat Oak and Philly does not get in the G-men make the SB.
3.) Going off my other point the D did let up a bit late last year but outside of the Carolina game they kept them in most games. And even in the Carolina game the D made a few big stops late in the game to get the ball back and in OT. In the other games the O kept going 3 and out and when they moved the ball they could not put it in the endzone. Look at the playoff game vs the Eagles. They shutdwon westbrook and Jackson. Forced a saftey and picked McNabb twice. Philly scored a TD set up by an Eli pick that was returned to the one. For the most part they were responsible for 16 points, not dominate but a hell of a lot better than what we’ve seen this year and good enough to win. The O was not able to handle the loss of Plax vs the Eagles
I agree Plax not being here had NOTHING to do with this years disaster. This years issues go a lot deeper than one player so to that end I agree 100% with you, they have a lot to work on.
A look ahead
If the NFL Schedule rotation stays the same (and I can’t imagine why it wouldn’t), the Giants next year will play the NFC North (Chicago & Detroit at home, Green Bay and Minny on the road), the AFC South (Jax and Tennessee at home, Houston and Peyton on the road), and then the Panthers & the Seahawks (I’m not sure how they figure out the home/away for those games, but they did just play the Panthers at home so I’d guess we’d play them away and Seattle at home). Plus, obviously the 6 NFC East games. That looks like a pretty rough schedule, though obviously you never know.
2009 Did Not Happen
Hawks away Panthers Home (I think)
last time they played the North 2007 they played their NFC west oppent Home (SF) and South oppenent on the Road (ATL).
In 04 they played the North and played ARZ on the Road and then ATL home so I think it rotates.
hard?
we get Detroit, the vikings without Favre, and a middling chicago. Green Bay will be hard. Jax I wouldn’t be worried about, they’re even worst than us about beating good teams. Tennessee I don’t know, Houston same deal. Colts, oh God. Panthers I don’t want to talk about, and its the Seahawks!
The on good thing about an off year is that we get two much easier games. I’m sure the eagles or cowboys will have loads of fun facing the cards and saints again.
Never assume skill at bouncing a ball makes you smarter than the guy who built the court.
When there's a WILL there's a WAY
Panthers
will be much better next year. Still have a good run game and will actually have a QB. The Vikings with or without Favre are a good team with one of the best running backs in the business and a good D. I think the Bears will be better next year – I have a feeling Cutler’s gonna have a bounce back season. Jax, Houston, and Tennessee are all the type of teams you never know what you’re gonna get, but they’re all better than their AFC West counterparts (Broncos, Chiefs, and Raiders).
2009 Did Not Happen
Yea I'm worried about divisonal games next year
Philly and Dallas thoughs are always tough. Indy yea thats scary but all of those other South teams are wildley inconsistant from year-to-year and week to week, a jugernaut one week a pretender the next week. The North is not great, Minny & GB. Carolina who knows. They could be 12-4 or 6-10.
Way too early to look ahead
I’ll wait until after the draft, and even more once training camp starts.

Yeah, the 5% chance ...
Ralph V. gave Sheridan of coming back is now 0% !!
I also heard McDermott was a candidate for HC spot, so maybe we can get the best Philly defensive position coach as our DC (same Spags system that BS some-how f’d up royally), then McDermott gets snapped up as HC somewhere, and Philly is screwed.
Glad to see the Boys beating the Eagles, so the Eagles don’t have the bye, and wouldn’t mind a repeat next week, as Jerry might actually keep Captain Cupcake another year or two, thus hamstringing the Boys for awhile longer.
Watch out for the 'boys, Shof.
They’re going into the playoffs hot.
Dallas and GB are the only two NFC teams
that seem to play solid D . . . they seem the most dangerous too me.
We´ve been suffering beating after beating
At least we don´t suffer a shutout like the Eagles are suffering now. haha
Yeah, we like NFL here in Brazil.
I'd expect a much closer game ...
in Jerry-World next week.
Yes they are in fact hot..and Romo is very much on top of things...
That one pick was deflected so far it looked like a punt..Beyond that, he’s looking good..and who the hell is that Practor(?) guy..What rock did that guy crawl out from under?
Can they beat the
Eagles two games in succession? It looks quite possible at this point.
I have never been so glad
to get home from doing christmas returns and finding out my recording of the game was screwed over my the FOX channel I get (Detroit) showing the Lions instead of the listed Giants game. Is it even worth the effort to go into the game thread and try to make sense of that massacre?
Sad watching the Packers game...
… and thinking Dom Capers could’ve and should’ve been our DC. How many picks this year? That’s why I’m harsh on ownership. If its true they nixed Capers for cost and went with in to save money, went with a guy who from the get go, in every interview, every utterance, seemed uneasy with his position, philosophy and whatnot, then ownership bears a major slice of blame for this crap year. If they screw us fans to keep again this year… I’m revving up my bi-plane and banners.
Capers is a good defensive mind.
He’d adapt to the personell, I believe, get the best out of them.
i actually missed most of the game
i was playing a drinking game where i drank every time the announcers said “brett favre.” i was bombed, and down a liter of jack daniels, midway thru the 2nd quarter.
Gotta say...
I’ve been entrenched in the Coughlin must stay camp….for reasons that fail to come back to me right now.
But 2 efforts like this, in a row…yes..they are on Coughlin and I’m sure he knows it.
But what the hell man? If it is rumored that he’s on the way out right now..I wouldn’t be surprised and I wouldn’t say its a bad idea.
This is a joke to come out there and play like this. An absolute joke.

I'm in there too
a 20-12 record coming off a SB win is nothing to sneeze at, without doing any research whatsoever I believe that gives us a two year record better than 2/3 of the league. So yes, he definitely earned another year and a chance to go out on his own terms. Another year like this one? Then we can talk, but to start talking now when we are 8 monhts away from the start of the season (sigh) is just silly.

I still support Coach Tom.
But he must make the playoffs next year or I’ll be on board with him getting the axe.
I'm not jumping ship on TC
but I think his seat will be a little hotter than we expected going into next year becasue of this teams effort the last two weeks.
Wade and the boys had two bad losses late last year, Ravens to close out their stadium and the Eagles. He survived and he’s never done much in the playoffs so TC deserves a shot to turn this thing around but the effort needs to improve.
Probably what I mean..
I don’t really wanna see Coughlin go..for fear of being like this crap teams that recycle coaches every year.
But after the Panthers game..I said that Coughlin’s on the hot seat next year..and like you say, basically the temp. got turned up.
N8 !
I know..
that was my argument too……
These 2 games…atrocious, they did nothing. Absolutely nothing.

Don't think he's getting fired either,
but he’s on the hot seat riding into next season. A few more debacles like this, and the media countdown will start.

John Fox or Jeff Fisher become avail. Don’t want to deal with the likes of former losers like Jerron, Crennel, or first timeers like Frazier and Garrett as NYG HC. Cowher and Shanahan are no genius’. The talent pool at HC is limited and we could do a lot worse than TC.

Fisher is one of 2 or 3 possibly available coaches that are sure to put a respectable team out there. If TC has in fact lost his team (and only the brass would really know that) then the Giants will need someone who’s been successful before to reel them back in. I realize that he has no NYG ties but does come with considerable resume on the defensive side of the ball.
TC?
I’ve never been a TC fan. He was one miracle catch by David Tyree from losing that Super Bowl. I’d tired of him standing on the sideline, mouth agape looking completely lost. How much of that SB win was Spags?

When there's a WILL there's a WAY
If you only give credit to Spags and the D in 07 and not TC
then why are you not blaming this years debacle on BS and absoulving TC?
by this logic
getting to the superbowl and losing is a failure.
LOL
Ok, all the injury stuff is coming out more. Danny Clark, journeyman, was the only starter on D from the beginning that was healthy all the way through, and they started trying to put Sintim in for him before Pierce went down and they wanted the experience in the lineup.
I loathe the rush society is in today. And in football, in means place blame, fire quickly, try again.
I hope Giants management shows the patience good clubs do and keep TC and BS. It was BS’s first season as a coordinator. They chose him for several reasons. Cutting bait this fast seems silly to me. I listed out all the reasons in a previous topic, and shall skip doing it here. But look how the D-played. They were in position on alot of plays, but failed. Better, healthier players not in a no win situation would perform better.
Sorry I won’t join in on the knee jerk reactions. YEah, I liked spags alot too, and also defended him for those first 10 quarters of his DC career. Let Sheridan stay for another season before we pronounce him inadequate.
Is u craaazzy?
Keeping BS would be asanine! There is no upside to that. I bet a bunch of stories come out about how the players disagreed with BS’s gameplan and play calls as soon as he gets fired. Look, injuries are a norm in this league. The D has played confused and out of sync
since the Saints loss. Too much substitutions have not given the D line any rhythm out there and BS has guys playing positions other than their natural strength. He obviously has no idea what his group is capable of succeeding at on the field. therefore he has to be replaced with someone with experience who
can bring some confidence back to these players.
by gr8kicks on Jan 3, 2010 7:38 PM EST via mobile up reply actions
Yo man..
I agree with you on Coughlin…
but Sheridan is far from a knee jerk reaction. First year or not…the play of the defense has been horrible.
You just can’t keep a guy like that.
if the play of the defense was on and off..or even adequate…then fine (well…if the defense was adequate..the Giants are in the playoffs…)
It would be a joke to the team, the players and the fans to not try and make changes.
You seriously would give him another chance?
N8 !
If they kept BS
Do you really think the D would get any better next year?
Even if he’s getting more blame than he deserves do you really think the players will believe in him in 2010? It’ll just be demoralizing if the organization kept him around. Fair or not fair.
and a good club is patient..
when they see something there.
I really think they were patient by keeping the guy there 16 games. The Giants defense has pretty much never been this bad in their long history.
It would be more of a joke of an effort then this 44-7 game to keep Sheridan on as the DC. I think they need to gut the whole defensive staff.
If you think that’s being a ‘fire quickly, brash decision’…you just weren’t paying attention this year.
N8 !
The whole D was hurt
It was walking wounded all year.
Even in today’s game, they seemed in position to make plays.
And any coordinator, especially a first timer, coming in after such a popular DC, with a veteran, superbowl winning squad, is gonna have control/likability issues.
With all the injuries, I doubt any D-coordinator could have done much, including spags. I think the reason the D was bad was because it had so many injuries.
If I didn’t think Sheridan MIGHT be able to do a good job, I wouldn’t want him back. 16 games under the circumstances that existed do not prove to me he should be gone.
The only way I say he should go is if stories start leaking out about real issues he had with the team, etc. I don’t think he was often out coached. I saw KG outcoached alot more than BS, and BS was a rookie coordinator.
Ofcourse, if management decides to kick him, I am with their choice. They have MUCH more info and insight than we do, and I do trust them.
Based on what I have seen, and have read, and my perspective, I think he should be back.
by Joshua4Giants on Jan 3, 2010 10:52 PM EST up reply actions
The shit really hit the fan with injuries this year
but that’s no excuse for five 40 point games.
Still, I don’t want another year to find out if sheridan can do better next year. it’s been 40 years since the last DC failed as bad as sheridan and co did.
Never assume skill at bouncing a ball makes you smarter than the guy who built the court.
When there's a WILL there's a WAY
I respectfully disagree, joshua
The D has not been in position to make plays and BS has in fact been out-coached all year. No one was prepared for DeSean in both games against the birds. Gap coverage for LBs have been abysmal even when AP and Boley were both in the lineup. And BS has not been able to make adjustments in his gameplan when the D was getting beat at one thing. Take the Denver game for instance. Denver ran wide successfully without any response or adjustments from BS.
It’s cool that you are the forgiving sort and want to give another shot to Bill but I believe he is in way over his head at this time and will be let go. Even as early as tomorrow.
by gr8kicks on Jan 4, 2010 12:21 AM EST via mobile up reply actions
I agree with you on Spags....
he would not have been able to make this unit into the 2007 one.
….but much of the 2007 is here. Plenty of injuries..yea.
But you must not have seen how bad they were. I watch plenty of other teams play…..there was not a single team in the league that had the defensive play that this team had this year.
They may be ranked high…but to even call them a sieve is putting it lightly.
16 games is a lot of games.
I just don’t know how this is not long enough. The players quit on him….they may even have quit on Coughlin.
Sheridan is not a new guy. He’s been with the Giants longer then Spagnuolo…pretty sure this is his 5th year.
The players know him…they know who he is, before this season.
N8 !
OH MY GOD!!!!!
Not since Ray Handley Took over a SB Championship team Have I seen an Giants team just mail in the final weeks of a season. I’ve been a Giants fan since I was 10 (42yrs) I’ve seen some bad teams but at least most of those teams tried….This is beyond pathetic
It was oddly compelling
I just couldn’t turn off the TV until Ware killed the shut-out. For variety, I blame the position coaches. This was team that did not execute fundamentals. There was too many missed tackles. CC Brown looked like my whiny 4-year old whenever a ball-carrier came near him. Without Antonio Pierce, this was a team with, to borrow from the 2007 lexicon, “no will.” They had no interest in imposing themselves on the Vikings. They should all be fired. Manning should be traded and start again from scratch
Playoffs question
If the Cowboys (ugh) and the Packers win next week, does the NFL then reseed with no regard to division winners (meaning is it possible that GB would play at Minn)?
There are alot of rematches in the works across the league...
You’ve got the Philly/Dallas rematch..The Green Bay/Arizona rematch and Jets/Bengals..are there others?..I’ve never seen so many back to back meetings..
Coughlin is one of those rare HC's ...
that at this point isn’t really seen as the de-facto OC or DC. Most other teams really have a HC/coordinator (can anyone even name the Dallas DC last year, or New Orleans OC this year ?), and one strong coordinator on the other side of the ball. All the more reason we need a strong OC and DC.
Sheridan is gone. Even the Maras can’t try and withstand the backlash of keeping him. Just saw on SI today that KG is rumored to be a front-runner in Oakland (that about fits …). Looks like those of us calling for new OC and DC in 2010 might get our wish, although I don’t see the Giants firing KG.
Brian Stewart was the boys DC last year
but he sucked so Wade started calling the D. It obviously helped when a quality DC did his job.
In NO I’m almost positive Peyton calls the plays, thats what he’s done most of his carrerr and thats what he’s good at. I believe Marty Morehningwig calls the plays in Philly too but Reids called the plays before.
Tomlin lets Lebeau run the D but he has expierence as a DC same deal with Marvin Lewis in Cincy, Zimmer runs the D.
You make an interesting point. I think TC is a strong guy running things but would benift from some strong coordinators. The talent level between teams is small, so coaching makes a big difference.
A GIANT disgrace
There is absolutely nothing which redeems this season. It is a reflection on the coaching staff that this team has had more penalties than any in recent memory. The defense is an embarrassment and Sheridan MUST go. I’m not sure there isn’t room on the plane ‘outta here’ for Coughlin as well; after all he allowed this team to deteriorate to its pathetic position. We all knew there was complacency demonstrated after the poor draft and the failure to make any significant attempt to replace Plaxico. Perhaps we need a high impact head coach along with a high impact wide receiver – someone who can hold onto the ball would be a start.
Wow
Really? A poor draft, that netted us a starting tackle and candidate for OROY. Receivers that can’t catch the ball, except the guy with over 100 catches and the rook with almost 50 and 6 TD’s. And a mythical “high impact head coach”? I’ll ask for the umpteenth time, who exactly is this person?

how many dropped balls did you count this season? If Smith caught 100 passes that might have been because Eli couldn’t count on any other receiver to catch a damned thing. And the starting tackle you refer to didn’t make the all-pro that singular honour was reserved for Sean O’Hara AGAIN. The rest of the offensive line had a mediocre year, at best. There was little or no running game and all those penalties. Think again.
plenty of dropped balls...
but this is nothing new…I think Plaxico, Toomer and Shockey used to drop twice as much as these guys.
N8 !
People seem to
have forgotten how many balls those three dropped, particularly Plax, not so much Toomer, although he had his share (many spectcular grabs as well, at shoe and sidelines.)
Yeah most rookie tackles that don't start until their 15th game
don’t make the Pro Bowl. But he is a starter probably even next year. So that’s two playmakers from a draft after one season, if we get two more next year that is a solid draft. But I’m sure you could have done better. Still didn’t answer my question about who thismythical better coach is.

If we replace both OC and DC ...
I hope we look for one of them to be HC-in-waiting, as TC is getting a little long in the tooth, and I don’t think he has the kind of rapport with today’s players that a guy like Tomlin in Pittsburgh has (do the Rooney’s know how to hire HC’s or what ?).
Rapport With players
I always get a kick out of that one. Fassel was way too easy (even some of the players admitted that) and TC came and grievances were filed with the NFLPA. How DO you motivate the current crop of self-absorbed infants (see Osi for Exhibit. A)? I hope for a no cap season and ruthless cutting of the “me, me, me” types who won’t tackle because it’s “too hard.”
Coughlin didn't even try
2 plays in the first half could have been successfully challenged, but it seems Coughlin didn’t care. The first was the pass that was clearly bobbled near the sideline…easy reversal there. The second was the interception…it wasn’t a clean catch…even my DVR in slow-mo revealed the nose of the football hit the ground and shifted the position of the ball, another easy reversal. (hint: my DVR isn’t nearly on par with the equipment the refs have available)
Pathetic is the only word I have for this performance, and it starts at the top.
I've been thinking about your contention, T,
and tend to agree. T looked dazed and confused both times. Favre called a quickie to preserve the first catch. Coaches rely on the guys in the skybox to provide advice on throwing the flag, still it looked at times that TC just didn’t have his head in the game.
SCARY.
Hey, at least
you’re not the only team that put forth a disgraceful effort today.
Despite being in the playoffs, I think we as Philadelphia fans feel the same way about our teams this year.
Gotta agree..
that was a disgrace as well.
Terry Bradshaw (distant cousin??) said maybe you all played a ‘rope a dope’?
Makes no sense considering a week off was on the line…but maybe it has some truth?
Dunno..we’ll see next Sunday.
N8 !
Myron, your eagles had a cpl or 3 OL missing today. Are they back next week.

You'll see a much tougher game next week..
Even Romo said it after the game..Dallas will have to completely come up with an entirely different game-plan..to try to keep the Eagles off balance…Cole at center didn’t do too bad a job considering.. Jackson looks hurt, which is not a good thing..But still I think it will be tough for Dallas to repeat what they did today.
Yeah, but...
At least your Eagles are in the playoffs. Today’s massacre would hurt a lot less if we still had something to look forward to next week.

Well...You folks certainly have..
Made enough comments to cover anything I would have had to say..The best thing that happened to me was having the network switch over to the Lions game, and I didn’t bother switching over to the NFL channel, I figure I’d watch the rest of a better teams game..Detroit…
And Eli looked like the most disgusted QB I ever saw throw for 4000 yards..
Traveshammockery
Would work well. To think that my biggest fear this year regarding this team was the received, how wrong was I?
I dont know where Reese will begin this offseason, I think its gonna be a tough job b/c theyre not in need of an entire overall, just a few critical pieces, which could be harder to correct
Okay, just so I understand it... in your wildest fantasy, you are in hell. And you are co-running a bed and breakfast with the devil.
It funny bren isn't it...
its as if Reese really..really took to heart the task of finding playmakers at WR…yet, probably would’ve been A-OK just getting Nicks to go with HAM, Smith and Hixon (well..that’s the 4 that played….).
But he got Barden..cuz of the perceived need for a big guy. And he got Beckum, for the perceived need of a safety blanket, pass catching TE.
I get the general consensus that at least the media really has no idea who to put blame on, given that there’s no EASY 2+2 answer, like Plaxico’s gone so that MUST be the reason…
This is the offseason that JR proves his meddle. Well…Coughlin too. Basically the whole org. cuz they really gotta fix that defense, and to be honest Sheridan is there too long even at this point, 1/3/2010, 9:44 PM.
N8 !
Well we can do without Hixon
Our other WR are better than he is, his returns notwithstanding, Moss should probably be shown the door. So id expect a future foursome of Smith, Nicks, Manningham and Barden.
What we really need is a safety

A safety?
just one?

One thing
How did Nicks end up with -5 receiving yards?
He’s on my fantasy team, and is pretty much indicative of how my fantasy team did this week.
Never assume skill at bouncing a ball makes you smarter than the guy who built the court.
When there's a WILL there's a WAY
What a difference a year makes.
Before the ‘09 draft, our D looked like they a top 5 D in the league. All of a sudden the same group lacks depth in the Secondary, a run supporting playmaker at Linebacker and a player who can consistently apply pressure at DL. The O on the other hands needed a “big” playmaker at WR, a replacement for Ward (3rd down pass catching, Blitz blocking RB) and an insurance policy for Kareem Mackenzie. After this season, it seems like we might have addressed those needs (with the exception of RB) on O but have a whole lot of holes on D. The draft doesn’t seem like its enough to fill those holes. We will need 1 or 2 Free Agent superstars to solidify the D. JR has his hands full.
Can someone tell Collinsworth
that Sanchez was 8-16 for 63 yards? He just compared him to Roethlisberger in his rookie year, I couldn’t believe it.

big ben
wasn’t all that spectacular his rookie year, he relied on a great running game and defense. the comparison is apt, i think.
Ben his first year had
a TD/ INT of 17/11, completed 64.4 percent of his passes and had a 98.1 QB rating. Sanchez has 12/20 completing under 54 percent for a 63.2 rating (before tonight). Hardly comparable.
This is the first Jet game I watched..They have one hell of a running game and defense..
What happened to our guys?
Has TC lost this team?
A good indication as to whether Coughlin has "lost " control over this team is; if in the next couple of weeks Players and/or “sources close to the team” start ripping each other in the press. If this starts happening Tom and those around him need to be shown the door.
I don't think he lost the team...but you can bet he'll be losing alot of his coaches...They let him down..
Big time and there wasn’t anything he could do about it..Now he will..He’s going to have some serious “Come to Jesus” meetings, for sure..and it won’t take him long to clean house..
I agree w/Bobbi
I don’t think TC has lost this team. I think Sheridan lost the defense, and there are other assistants who also need to go. You know 8-8 and missing the playoffs for the first time in 5 years does not turn us into the Rams or the Lions. That said, some changes are in order.
I agree it's hard for me to buy he lost the team
when they play 3 divisional oppentents in a row pretty hard and went 2-1 Dallas Philly and Wash. Then in the span of a week he lost the team. I think Sheridan lost the D like you said, and after last week and the fact they put so many guys on IR they just packed it in Yesterday but it’s hard to believe he lost the team in just one week.
This is not our Giants
They were home on strike or injured.
