Giants QB Coach Palmer Retires
According to Michael Eisen of Giants.com, New York Giants Quarterback coach Chris Palmer is going to retire after spending three years with the team. Eli Manning has continued to progress every year and is already a Super Bowl MVP and Pro Bowl quarterback. How much is this going to affect Manning going forward? It is important to have stability at coaching positions, especially for quarterbacks. Hopefully the Giants find someone who is capable of continuing to help Eli Manning become an elite quarterback in this league.

not that big of a deal
This is the guy that ruined tim couch and david carr with the browns and texans respectively. I doubt Eli will miss him

He's the guy responsible for what Eli is today
He didn’t ruin anyone’s career. No quarterback could survive under the “offensive line” the Texans put together.
And Cleveland’s cleveland. They haven’t had anyone better without him.
Never assume skill at bouncing a ball makes you smarter than the guy who built the court.
When there's a WILL there's a WAY
This is not good at all.....
You've got to be very careful if you don't know where you are going, because you might not get there
Eli will survive - I'm more concerned for
whoever his backup would be… a quality QB coach to teach Eli’s understudy would be valuable in that person’s growth. Esp. if we lose Carr and only have Bomar and a young FA/drafted QB back there…
hence COULD force emphasis in possibly retaining Carr if we don’t get a quality QB coach. Definitely changes things a bit in the team’s focus to strengthen that backup position.
Opus smart , lascivio magis , intereo gauisus...
Good point...
I hadn’t thought about the backup’s need for good coaching. I do believe though that coaching vacancies here have to be among the most coveted in the league so unlike a lot of other teams we don’t have to recruit quite so hard to get the best available talent.

Agreed
I think the biggest worry is the development of the backups, especially young guys like Bomar. But it sounds like Eli will also miss Palmer’s innovative QB drills. Eli raves about them. Hopefully they find as bright a mind to replace him, but as ‘57 points out it’s a desirable gig so I have faith in TC.
