I work in education, I’m a teacher and we have a lot of transient staff in the form of Teaching Assistants (TA).  We get many college age kids that are working on an education put in a year or two as TA’s.  So there is a fair amount of overturn in our staff from year to year.

Well yesterday at lunch someone mentions how we are going to be stuck with one of these TA’s, even though she is going to finish her degree in May.  She’s just useful enough to keep around, but pretty useless overall, and who is going to hire her.   It dawned on me that She is the Kevin Gilbride of our staff.  Just useful enough to not be shown the door, but we are all secretly or not so secretly hoping she gets hired by someone else.

 I could only share this revelation here, because you guys would get the joke.  So do you have any Kevin Gilbride’s at your job?
