M. Rolle is a player we want and need

It's very funny to me that today the Star-Ledger had an article about M. Rolle.  I'm a college football coach in Va and while out looking at some kids the past two weeks in Alabama and Georgia, I had an opportunity (via connections at the Senior Bowl) to watch the last few days of practice and I tell you this.   As much as I want to keep this kid under the radar.   M. Rolle is a player our Giants want and need.  Yeah, Yeah he has been out of football for a year but I tell you this.  He is just as fast as any player practicing this week, he is more vocal than any other player, and he is a stud(ripped) and in better shape than I have ever seen a player period not coming off of a year layofff.  He will shine at the senior bowl I predict.  Problem there is he jumps on the radar big time.  Scouts keep saying he is a second to third round player and he may be, but he looks like a first rounder, acts like a first rounder, and plays like a first rounder!  If we happen to move back or if he is there at our second pick we must have him.  I assure you guys that he is a stud and it's a need so cross your fingers he falls to us or we snatch him up if we trade our first rounder to fall back in the draft.

You've got to be very careful if you don't know where you are going, because you might not get there

I tell you Free

he looks good! The South roster as a whole is loaded with speed and he looks so fluid running around, jumping etc…

I never said he'd be a bad pick...

there’s just so many other safeties I’d rather take over him.

I would like Rolle

never hurts to actually have smart players playing for you.

I wouldn't mind that pick

If he was there in the 3rd or later. He seems smart and athletic.

Would welcome him aboard

But every where I look has him wayyyy lower then a 3rd pick, 5th rounder was highest I saw most have him 6-7th rd… Of course Senior Bowl play and Combine will do wonders for your draft stock.. Kid is 6-2 217pds big guy, a Strong Safety and his last clocked 40 was a 4.59 not too bad compared to the other Strong Safeties out there.. Only the Free Safeties in this year draft are really good the SS spot is pretty bare in my opinion… here is a good link for all positions http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/prospectrankings/TSX/2010_SS
I glog MLB for CBS Sports at there studios in Fort Lauderdal, FL only reason I even know about this page…

All's Well that Fewell

he was a 1st round pick last year

people are treating him like he’s coming off of a major injury. He spent every day with a trainer. He’s in shape just not football shape (which is more mental than physical).

If he can show that he’s right where he was last year then he’ll probably go in the second.

Rolle moving up

McShay had him moving into the third or even second round Friday based on how good he looked at the Senior Bowl practices. He’s in incredible shape and hasn’t lost his instincts.

Big risk...

He may not totally be into football after a couple years. Here is a guy that is as educated and smart as any other football player to ever come out of the college ranks. This is a guy that can pretty much write his own ticket on any endeavor he might choose. He’s going to be a freaking doctor by the time the season starts… seriously.

It’s actually a wonder that he went to Florida State, of all places.

Sounds like a guy you probably should see available at our 3

I wouldn’t have a prob with him….if you want to take a shot a guy who was dividing his time between football and something else how about Chad Jones….I say both are good picks

He would be a value pick

if we can get him in the 3rd round or later… just think of the guys we could snatch in rounds 1 and 2 with safety off our mind! I think this would be best case scenario to grad him, and use earlier picks elsewhere- BPA in RB, DT, LB, OT/OG.

I'll take him

The football community wants to punish him because he acknowledged there is something else in life besides football. He is not the first to choose a Rhodes scholarship over sports – Bill Bradley is the most well known, but also one of the linemen from the Nebraska championship teams in the 90’s.

Safety is one of the most important positions for intelligence, since they cover more of the field than anyone else on defense. I think they should look for him in the 3rd or 4th, even if they already picked one safety.

+1

Especially because we don’t know if KP is going to return or not.
With the terrible play of M. Johnson, Cant Cover Brown, Rouse and even Ross, I honestly wouldn’t be opposed to starting 2 rookie safeties, or 1 rookie safety and a FA safety. I’d Rather have a Earl Thomas/M. Rolle tandem than Rouse and Johnson back there.

Awaiting the draft :/

I want him

I saw him interviewed on PTI and he seemed like a smart, dedicated player that would play to his maximum potential and train as hard as possible. Reading about him he seems like a good player and I think he would make a real impact with the organisation and the great coaching that the Giants have ( I mean the secondary coach and TC, I dont know how good Fewell is).

Aussie! Aussie! Aussie! Oi ! Oi ! Oi ! Aiming for ONE medal in the winter Olympics.

Fewell is good

Fewell actually was the Bills secondary coach. The Bills were second in the league with 28 interceptions to the Giants 13 picks. Also to note, he turned rookie CB Jarius Byrd into a Pro Bowl S, who had 9 picks. Not too bad!

Imagine if....

…Fewell(if he’s good enough I want to call him Fuel!)can actually make Michael Johnson a good player…..naaahhhh!Damn I wish we didn’t need two S’s.

by Shaunthegiant on Jan 29, 2010 6:06 PM EST reply actions

He's got 1 career INT tho....

….I’d like more production and 12 pass breakups in 38 games, ahhh,I think I’ll pass on him early(first 3 rd.)I see the benefit of his smarts and all but being a Rhodes scholar isn’t exactly nec. for a football player.Kind of overkill.Someone will probably fall in love with his PR skills a bit too early I’m sure. http://www.draftcountdown.com/ScoutingReports/S/Myron-Rolle.php

by Shaunthegiant on Jan 29, 2010 6:32 PM EST reply actions

he was a rover at FSU

dont let the production fool you. Chris Hope is a good comparison for what to expect with Rolle in the pros. Being a rover doesn’t necessarily show all your strengths. He just put up a bunch of tackles.
