BBV Conference Championships Pick'em

The four players eligible for the Conference Championship Pick'em are: Meigs1414, WillGFass, M., and LostinJersey.

Shamefully, I was eliminated after the FIRST game of the playoffs, because four other players had the same remaining picks with better tiebreakers. I'm beginning to hate the Saints.

Meigs1414 and WillgFass went 3-1, only getting the Chargers game wrong. M. won the battle of the 2-2s with a 38-27 Saints win for a tiebreaker value of 20 (S=7, C=13.) LostinJersey made the second tiebreaker with 24, having picked a 45-42 Cards win (21 off on Cards, 3 off on Saints.)

Sorry about my bookkeeping screwup.

Star-divide

Picks due FRIDAY NOON:

Vikings @ Saints:

Jets @ Colts:              Score:

Good luck to our four survivors.

Thanks for sparing my blushes

but even I admit I stank up the joint with an 0-4 record.

Good luck to the remaining guys.

it's OK G

you and me, and brisulph, we kicked ass over 256 games!

You play to win the game!

Um I went 3-1

I chose Saints, Vikes, Colts and San Diego.

Only San Diego lost.

I want a recount

No...

I’m 5-3 overall, but I thought each round was independent of the last

Me, Meigs1414, and ByeDawk went 3-1 last week, and I would have the 2nd tie breaker since Meigs had a closer score, but I chose the saints to win while Bye Dawk had the Cards winning.

Everyone else went 2-2 or worst…

Actually Bye Dawk went 2-2

Only Meigs and I went 3-1, we both had the same picks but I assume Meigs had the tiebreaker.

So uh, spreadsheet error?

sorry dude

Bye Dawk must have had the tiebreaker… only 8 went into this past weekend’s action.
Believe me if I coulda finagled him out of his spot in favor of you, I woulda!

You play to win the game!

by Simms-McConkey on Jan 18, 2010 3:12 PM EST up reply actions

I don't understand though...

I went 3-1, while Bye Dawk and Lost in Jersey went 2-2.

Even if we were tied, I picked the Saints, while they both picked the Cards, which would mean I would get the tiebreaker as I understand it.

If we were going by overall wins in the playoffs, I’d still be in it because I’m 5-3 overall, while Lost in Jersey is 4-4 overall

I’m not trying to be annoying, but I think you made a mistake.

Incredibly enough,

I just found my old paper copy of the wild card round and I thought you had been out from the wild card round — I had you confused with Woogie (it’s a W thang) but you went 2-2 with a good tiebreaker in the WC round and WERE in the divisionals…. where you went 3-1like ByeDawk and Meigs1414.

Which makes you automatic.

Of the 2-2’s the best tiebreaker is had by M.

I screwed up the sheet, and LostinJersey is NOT in the Conference Championships. Thanks for your diligence in pursuing this. If I hadn’t found that old sheet I would have just thought you had been eliminated before. I’m glad I didn’t as that woudl have been super irritating.

The correct 4 to play this weekend are ByeDawk, Meigs, Will, and M.
I will adjust the post accordingly.

You play to win the game!

Thank you

But Bye, Dawk went 2-2,
(Chose Cards and Chargers wrong)

As long as we’re fixing things, we may as well get everything right.

ByeDawk's tiebreaker is 28

LostinJersey is the 4th man.

Now I feel better … didn’t screw over any Giants fans with all my incompetent botchery

No problem

just DON"T DO IT AGAIN.

Seriously though, you go the whole season without an error and in the second easiest part you make a mistake

only partly kidding

about losing focus by not being in it…

seriously, I was eliminated basically 3 quarters into the first game! Then i looked at the sheet and tried to calculate it out ahead, counting the chargers game as a win for everyone… anyway suffice it to say I did not watch a minute of football last weekend and was quite peeved at the Saints and Cards.
Think you got what it takes to win the Superbowl of pick’em?

Next year I’m going with the idea of seeding and matchups for the playoffs!

You play to win the game!

by Simms-McConkey on Jan 19, 2010 4:19 PM EST up reply actions

Not really actually

My first idea was to have the Cards and Chargers winning, but after thinking about it, I thought I should stick with all home teams and make it safe. I knew there would be one upset, but I didn’t know where. I was very confident about the chargers, and it was a shock they lost (although not much by the way they were playing).

As for the AFC I have the Colts, NFC, I really don’t know. The vikings I think are the better team overall, but the Saints have a better matchup in certain areas.

Well I think I want the Saints to win it all

Definitely have to win this week at least, as I could not stand another Brett Favre lovefest pre-super bowl again.

by brisulph on Jan 18, 2010 9:27 AM EST reply actions

ugh

i dont know which is more annoying the favre love fest or the “who dat, drew dat”

by LT's Will Power on Jan 18, 2010 9:21 PM EST up reply actions

Both are annoying

but Saints as a franchise could use a SB appearance.

by brisulph on Jan 19, 2010 12:27 PM EST up reply actions

Farvings gotta go...

so that means the Saints gotta win.

Tho…I hope the Saints get the snot kicked out of them in the SB.

Beginning to come to terms with the fact its probably the Jets doing it too….

It gets late real early out here....

stayin' alive

All of the regular season heavyweights are out. I managed to go 0-2 yesterday and survive. I’m not sure which was better, the Cowgirls losing or the nice win by the Jets. Wish I had the sense to pick either of those games right. Picking against the ’girls has cost me this season (except vs. the Gmen!).

I'm still fighting with myself about the picks

I don’t want to pick both home teams but I refuse to root for Farve and I’m having a hard time picking the Jets. Argh.

If there's ever a riot at Citi Field and Oliver Perez was the starter, I started the riot.

picks

Picks due FRIDAY NOON:
Vikings @ Saints: VIKINGS

Jets @ Colts: COLTS Score: 23 – 17

Hooray for me not posting late. There it is. Good luck to everyone that’s left.
I don’t really hate any of these teams, and I will root for the Jets to win. I have a soft spot for the city of N’awlins too, but not Drew Brees.

by M. on Jan 20, 2010 2:35 PM EST reply actions

meigs1414's picks

MIN @ NO: Saints
I cannot and will not root for a man that made me agree with Cowboys fans. Bravo, Brett Favre. Whatever little piece of respect I had for you was completely erased when you decided to throw the ball up 24 points with under 4 minutes left to play.

NYJ @ IND: Colts Score: 28-10
I have a hard time seeing the Jets beating the Colts. But I felt that last week against the Chargers. If it’s a close game, I think the Jets will win but I think Peyton will stick to the Jets and Polain (sp?) by lighting up the scoreboard. If the Jets do somehow win this game, however, they will end up winning the Super Bowl.

If there's ever a riot at Citi Field and Oliver Perez was the starter, I started the riot.

Woogie's picks

Since I am 1-7 .

I’m going with the Jets and the Vikings. Because I want both those teams to lose.

Reverse logic 4tw.

Just the one wrong forecast in the postseason!

by G Fan in England on Jan 25, 2010 8:38 AM EST up reply actions

Yea.

My picks were the kiss of death for teams this year.

I only got that one game “wrong” At least it involved the Cowboys losing.

by Woogie526 on Jan 25, 2010 8:48 AM EST up reply actions

Seriously? lol! I thought I was out.

Vikings @ Saints: Saints

Jets @ Colts: Colts Score: 27 – 23

We should have had the score for the other game...

Vikings @ Saints: Favre’s

Jets @ Colts: Peyton Score: ….

How exactly does the tiebreaker work again?

Never assume skill at bouncing a ball makes you smarter than the guy who built the court.

When there's a WILL there's a WAY

by Willgfass on Jan 21, 2010 5:42 PM EST reply actions

The tiebreaker

Is the combined point margin of how far you are away from the actual score of each team.

If you predict 20-10 colts, and the score is 31-14 Colts, you’d be 11 off on the colts and 4 off on the Jets for a total of 15.

If the score was 31-14 Jets, you’d be 6 off on the colts and 21 off on the Jets for a total of 27.

However, it seems the tiebreaker will be moot this week: Everyone has the Colts; two have Minny and two have the Aints. Therefore, if Minnesota wins, LostinJersey and M. would be in the Superbowl; if the Saints win it’s be You and Meigs.

However, do post a score for interest’s sake.

You play to win the game!
