They probably will grab another safety somehow

but I also think you can look at Terrel Thomas as a backup safety.

Id think the LB to go when Boley comes back is Wilkenson, tho I could also see a guy like Douzable being cut and going with the extra LB (cuz DeOssie is nothing more than a special teams/LS…he’s really not gonna see time as a LB)

Nice to see Hagan on the roster as well as Sinorice. I really hope Sinorce actually gets a shot this season, cuz eventually Hakeem Nicks is gonna take someone’s spot (and maybe Barden too).

Probably the one surprise is Bruce Johnson. I did not get the impressin he was gonna make the squad, but congrats to him.

When are you guys going to give up on Sinorice?

He stinks, and once the Giants eventually cut him, no one is going to pick him up.

that may be...

but we’ll see this year.

And you (and Bye Dawk) are awfully overconfident for fans of a team that has not all that good of a WR corp either.

The thing that separates Sinorice from someone like say… Reggie Brown, is Reggie’s had ample opportunity to prove himself.

Sinorice has been stuck behind guys for years and when the opportunity came, like in 07 when the slot guy spot was wide open, he kept getting nagging injuries.

THis is his last year if he remains absent the whole year. But Jerry Reese has said actually the same thing I thought when I think about Moss; whenever they throw to him he’s usually wide open and catches the ball.

We’ll see is all.

Are you serious

The Eagles WR corps trumps the Giants WR corps. You can’t use the “Well if they got more playing time they would’ve been good.”

False, if they were good they would’ve been on the field.

but aside from DeShean Jackson, the rest is equal.

Don’t give me no crap that Curtis and Avant are any good either.

Im saying you talking crap about the Giants WR is a bit funny. Id worry about your own guys if I was you.

I pretty much agree...

except I would kept Jeremy Clark over Douzable and Travonti Johson over Bruce Johnson.

by andiamo708 on Sep 5, 2009 7:51 PM EDT reply actions

Hadn't heard

Leger Douzables’ name much at all. What’s the story with him?

by jerseybillfromva on Sep 5, 2009 8:15 PM EDT reply actions

he's the guy that was responsible for the game winning TD vs. Carolina

Got his hand on the QB…ball went to Hill and he ran it in.

But I thought Clark was a monster when he was on the field vs. NE…I know he went down with an ankle injury late in the game. Maybe that’s the reason Douzable got the nod, but I remember being pretty impressed w/ Clark that game. Not much previous to NE though. And I don’t think I heard Douzable’s name mentioned since the play vs. Carolina.

by andiamo708 on Sep 5, 2009 9:05 PM EDT up reply actions

douzable

i think they decided to keep him because of the season ending injury to jay alford, although i wouldnt be surprised if hes he odd man out when boley comes back. i would have liked to see them keep maurice evans instead, it’d be a miracle if he makes it to the practice squad.

by GiantsReignSupreme on Sep 5, 2009 8:22 PM EDT reply actions

We Might Have a DT Problem

I was a bit perplexed myself when I saw Douzable on the final roster but after some thought it makes some sense. Robbins and Cofield are coming off of microfracture surgeries. Canty has been injured for the entire preseason. Bernard missed most of camp and is just getting back to playing. There are question marks about all of them, and now Alford is gone for the year. If things break wrong DT could very well wind up being a huge problem spot. The last thing the Giants want to be doing is picking guys up off the street and asking them to jump right in (remember LB in the playoffs in 2005?).

by Be Driven on Sep 6, 2009 4:33 AM EDT up reply actions

WE WILL REGRET LETTING EVANS GO!!!

he will not make it to the practice squad….not happening

Why couldn’t we keep him and put someone else on the practice squad then deal him away for draft picks? We aren’t going to get anything for this guy and he is will be an eventual starter on another team that is starving for quality DEs

by 732jerseyP on Sep 5, 2009 9:16 PM EDT reply actions

the thing I don't understand...

Evans was a UDFA….for a reason. He looked good in training camp, decent in the actual games. Could he be a player in the league? Maybe. Could he be Jon Randle? Slim chance.

Reality is he would have not been any better than Tollefson could be this season. Plus there’s no guarantee he will stay on with the Bucs.

Bernard Pollard

He´s on the waivers. Maybe a good fit for the Giants?

Yeah, we like NFL here in Brazil.

by GiantsBRFan on Sep 5, 2009 10:42 PM EDT reply actions

Bernard Pollard

I’d take him over Michael Johnson. He’s a better tackler and he took out Tom Brady last year so I like him already. I’m not sure if he’d be a SS in our system or a FS and the coaches definitely wouldn’t give him a nod over Johnson, but I’d give our secondary a pretty good sized boost with Kenny “The Hitman” Phillips and Bernard “I Hate Tom Bradys Leg” Pollard or even Kenny and Gibril Wilson. Gibril actually knows the system.

Wow, what a joke. Have fun with that one, I'm going to Quiznos!

by MRoztheGreat777 on Sep 5, 2009 11:27 PM EDT up reply actions

pollard would be a nice addition IMO

i think he’d come to the team as a backup, with the possibility of working his way into a starting role. i think he’d play strong safety with his ability to make tackles at the line of scrimmage and lay down some big hits, plus kenny phillips is better at free safety where he can use his speed to cover a lot of field

by GiantsReignSupreme on Sep 5, 2009 11:35 PM EDT up reply actions

From watching

Kenny Phillips all four years he played at Miami, his potential IMO puts him as good as Ed Reed, like Ronnie Lott caliber. I hope Taylor Mays or somethin has a bad year and falls late in the first round so we could put Kenny Phillips and Taylor Mays together……..OW that’d be nasty. Haha. In college there were numerous occasions where a reciever would catch the ball turn up field, Phillips would blast him, the ball would pop in the air, and he’d intercept it and turn upfield. I dream…….I dream.

Wow, what a joke. Have fun with that one, I'm going to Quiznos!

by MRoztheGreat777 on Sep 5, 2009 11:39 PM EDT up reply actions

I would put Pollard as one of the two safeties

that I would like to see possibly signed. The other being Anthony Smith. Yes I’m a homer for ‘Cuse players, but I think he is a huge upgrade over Can’t Cover Brown.

Homer: Aw, twenty dollars! I wanted a peanut!
Homer's Brain: Twenty dollars can buy many peanuts!
Homer: Explain how!
Homer's Brain: Money can be exchanged for goods and services!
Homer: Woo-hoo!

by bigbluethruandthru on Sep 6, 2009 12:00 AM EDT up reply actions

rough game today for the 'Cuse

I’m pulling for them to turn things around this year, though. Paulus may or may not be a good QB, but at least he’s focused some attention on a once great program.

by cjmulrain on Sep 6, 2009 2:39 AM EDT up reply actions

I thought Paulus looked pretty good

…he actually allowed me to sit through a Cuse game again. Minnesota is not the best in the Big 10, but Big 10 nonetheless, so it wasn’t cheap competition.

GODZZIIIIIRRRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!

by FreeBradshaw on Sep 6, 2009 7:38 AM EDT up reply actions

yea

I was impressed by Paulus up until the last play. Probably just a case of a first time QB trying to do too much, but that was a pretty awful pass. Hopefully he’ll cut down on stuff like that – I can see them being competitive in the Big East this year, which really looks wide open.

Even more off topic than the rest of this convo: how ridiculous is is that the Big East is guaranteed a BCS spot but the Mountain West and the WAC aren’t, considering they are both clearly better conferences right now. And I’m a Big East fan.

by cjmulrain on Sep 6, 2009 10:54 AM EDT up reply actions

He wouldn't start over MJ

(another player GIants fans like to underrate…) but Pollard would be an OK addition.

Funny cuz he’s really a lot like CC Brown. A big safety who is more like a Cover 2 OLB (Pollard and CC are both around 225lbs….)

Id rather go with a guy who can cover more….I don’t know who, but that’s what Id go for.

we need to bring in a safety of two..

i think we could get rid of an excess OL, and LB.. considering we have kiwanuka on the line who will play LB…

C.C. Brown...

obviously the guy has taken a lot of heat…some have suggested cutting him.

I really think we’ve been a bit hard on the guy though.

Yes he’s missed some big tackles but at the same time, he was actually in position to make some of those tackles so you can take that as a positive. Also, he’s in a new system…the sanchez TD pass is proof of that…his coverage was completely wrong, and didn’t pick up the right guy. Lastly, didn’t he miss a good part of the year last year? like 1/2 or closer to a whole year w/ a broken arm? We gotta remember that he’s probably trying to shake out some cob webs and get back to game shape.

I know he had a stupid penalty vs NE but he put a few nice licks on some guys too. I actually like that he’s getting as many reps as he did b/c it’s a learning experience and I think he showed improvement with each pre season game.

by andiamo708 on Sep 6, 2009 2:12 AM EDT reply actions

For the record...C.C. Brown has played flat out horrible

but I think that there are certain factors that are contributing to that…those of which I listed above.

I’m not trying to give C.C. a total pass here…i’m just saying.

by andiamo708 on Sep 6, 2009 2:14 AM EDT up reply actions

fair enough

fair enough.. but either way, we def. need another safety.. if i had it my way.. id drop an OL, bring in a 4th RB…

drop a LB as Kiwanuka can play both DE and LB.. and add a safety…

Keeping Douzable, Boothe & Whimper ...

but cutting Evans and Bomar. Really ?!? Pretty sure we could any of the 3 above back on a moments notice, and Evans and Bomar will be hard to stash on the Practice Squad, so I really don’t understand the logic here.

The first three have no future upside, and the last two do, so the very short run must have been the consideration here.

by Shofner85 on Sep 6, 2009 11:52 AM EDT reply actions

Carrying 2 QBs

The Giants are carrying 2 QBs again. Maybe they’ve decided that if the first 2 went down, they would probably try to pick up a vet somewhere. After that, why train someone to be a backup? I wonder if they try to get Bomar to the practice squad.

by TerraByte on Sep 6, 2009 12:19 PM EDT reply actions

That's not a bad gamble in my opinion.

It’s impossible to cover all positions with only 53 guys. You have to take a chance somewhere. While nothing is certain, Eli and Carr have a pretty record for staying healthy.

By the way, Ed, thanks for eliminating that horrible post.

Giants roster

I agree with all the roster selections, except for C.C. Brown. He’s terrible! I guess they didn’t have any better choices. Maybe they’ll sign someone released by another team and get rid of Brown.

yeah

no idea.. and cc brown is awfu.. hopefully we pick up spmeone else..

oh and im fine with 2 QBs..
especially if their eli and carr..

and bomar made it to the practice squad.. dumb move getting rid of evans..

and i have a serious question.. if kiwanukas not gonna play LB.. wheres he gonna play..

we have tuck cofield robbins and umenyuren hehe

wheres he gonna go.. i wouldnt mind seeing him at LB.. with peirce and blackburn/clark

plus, peirce is getting up there and might not be able to go every down.. so it would make sence to put kiwanuka there..

i mean seriously.. hes a good player.. if he doesnt play LB hes a backup.. and that doesnt make much sense..

unless were gonna put 5 guys on the line, it beats me..

Moshe

Did you pay attention to training camp/pre-season? He is part of a three-man DE rotation with Tuck and Osi. He will be in all the time as a pass rusher, and he will allow Tuck and Osi rest so they aren’t worn out at the end of the season. The depth is a great thing. Oh, one more thing. Capital letters and spelling, please.

Now all we can do is hope..Greater football minds than ours..made the decisions. Now we can get back to coaching from our couches every week..Evans is gone (we all new that would happen)..and thus far Bomar seems to be slipping thru the and may make it to the practice squad..We hope..afterall, Carr is gone after this season if not before, than we’ll have only one QB?
