'We are the kickers'

'Queler' dropped a link to this in the comments on the Lawrence Tynes' post. It's too funny for me not to bring it to the front page. So, here is 'We are the Kickers.'

Walter Payton was so charming.

HAHAHA

Thanks so much Ed for making my day. That is the funniest thing I have seen in a while buddy. Perfect timing with the previous Tynes post.

Brrr...Green Bay

At least Tynes makes some of those there.

Tynes is probably....

The worst kicker in the NFL. I can not think of a single kicker that I would take Tynes over. I would take Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson before that clown. I honestly would rather they let Eli handle the QB and PK duties. He couldn’t possibly be any worse, and even if his kicks where short, they would be consistant.

I so tired of people falling back to the “Yeah, but he got it done in GB” response. The truth is in that game he missed FG’s that a pedestrian kicker makes. I would argue that there is not a kicker in the NFL or College that given three opportunities to make a Kick in GB doesn’t hit at least one of them.

I am also tired of the In Reese We Trust BS. For all the good he has done, he hasn’t even remotely addressed the PK issue, which isn’t new this season. Especially considering the problems the team is having scoring TD’s. If I was GM, I would have cut Tynes immediately following the TB game. I would not have let him on the team bus back to the hotel. I would have spotted him cab fare to the hotel, and a bus ticket back to NY/NJ.

Tynes must have some really incriminating pictures of Coughlin/Reese. Otherwise there is no reason he stays on the team. Enough ranting, I’ve never made it secrety how little I care for Tynes. Go Big Blue!!!

Little tough on JR there

C’mon, this is a team that has one of the league’s elite for three straight seasons. The perfect NFL roster with has yet to be created, except by some Fantasy Football guru somewhere. Give me the name of a better kicker than Tynes who is available today. And, come up with a game Tynes has cost the Giants. In Reese I Trust.

by Ed Valentine on Sep 29, 2009 5:21 PM EDT up reply actions

You make that too Easy Ed...

The list is long and storied. I would take any kicker available today; Matt Stover, Bryant; Morten Anderson (Yes he’s got dead leg, but he doesn’t miss the gimme’s and PAT’s), insert Kicker Name Here.

I will turn this around and say give me the name of an available kicker that is worse than Tynes. Goodluck finding one.

As for Reese, yes he’s done more good for this team than bad, but let’s not forget that for the most part, the Team the won the SB was Ernie Accorsi’s (with the exception of Tynes), not JR’s. Sure JR contributed and has done what I would call an excellent job…aside from addressing the PK situation, which has been a situation for the last three years.

Wait…he did adress the PK issues. He TRADED for Tynes!!!

maybe a little too harsh on JR

His entire draft class that year contributed in that SB run. Also, and I’m not 100% certain…JR’s job while Acorsi was GM was to handle the draft. Which is one of the primary reasons he got the GM job over the Mara that was also up for the same position. So not to take any credit from Ernie, but you should probably give a little more to JR based on the fact the he was part of the organization and didn’t come from the outside.

I'm glad you don't make the decisions for this team...

Stover? Seriously? Anderson!?!?

Do you want our opposition to have an average starting field position at the 40 every time we kickoff?

Jerry Reese

Jerry should win NFL GM of the YEAR!

Hey, c'mon, Ed, haven't you heard

that Pat Summerall is dying to come back from beyond to show the league what a straight ahead booter can do. JR’s a miracle worker so he should be able to work something out. (If not Pat, how about Lou Groza?

by blue gonz on Sep 29, 2009 10:08 PM EDT up reply actions

you're talking about a kicker.....

as the knock on a guy who has settled the WR position, drafted a better secondary than Accorsi ever dreamed of, lobbied his ass off for Tuck and Kiwi, and has created a team that has been decimated by injures yet is still 3-0?

Who the hell cares about at kicker? They gotta make kicks.

Kicker is all about luck. Not every team can find a David Akers out there…..

What the f$%k is the internet?

isn't Seabass still in the league?

as far as replacing Tynes, I have to think, who would be better?

by queler on Sep 29, 2009 5:21 PM EDT reply actions

Tynes

That’s just it. There isn’t a logical replacement out there.

by Ed Valentine on Sep 29, 2009 5:21 PM EDT up reply actions

until we start losing games

then get off his case a bit. we all hate to see Tynes miss FGs but he should get back to normal making 20 yarders.

Has anybody seen the ESPN power rankings? Clayton that little turd has the GMEN 6th!!!! I dont think anybody could justify that ranking below the jets, saints, or the colts. I really dont like how most have the ravens over the giants anyways. I guess we all will see when we go to NO and take on the saints.

oops I crapped my pants!

Do away with Kickers

replace the kicker with two downs for the offense to get the 3 points,
eliminate the extra point. This would save a lot of grief.
